Notorious South African shop at it again.

The next entry in EA's annual Need for Speed franchise will be a sequel to 2005 game Need for Speed: Most Wanted, according to leak-prone South African retailer BTGames.

No release date or launch platforms are mentioned on the Need For Speed Most Wanted 2 (http://www.btgames.co.za/po/POinfo.asp?A13070) product page. But you can pre-order it, if you like.

Criterion, maker of Burnout and the fabulous Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, is expected to be the developer behind the next released Need for Speed game. Is it this one - Most Wanted 2?

Criterion was spotted hiring for an open world racer project (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-05-criterion-hiring-for-open-world-racer) last summer.

Eurogamer's then editor Kristan Reed wrote our Need for Speed: Most Wanted review (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/r_nfsmw_x360), scoring an impressive, series-back-on-track, 8/10.

BTGames' may want to repair its bucket, having also leaked Dead Space 3 (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-18-dead-space-3-listed-by-leaky-south-african-shop) today.

BTGames was correct when it leaked Jak & Daxter HD Collection ahead of Sony's official announcement.

Just do Hot Pursuit 2 HD already, EA.

I'd buy it.

BTGames are getting full of themselves aren't they? They've obviously latched on to the fact people seem to suck up the rubbish they post on their website. They posted Dead Space 3 on there the other day and the gaming press lapped it up, all because they were right (once) in predicting the J&D HD Collection.

But anyway, NFS games are rubbish. They're like a poor man's Burnout or Ridge Racer.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that they're rubbish. Granted EA do seem to throw out alot of these titles, however NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) was rather successful.
Talking of Ridge Racer - that's one game that has now been ruined

True, Unbounded makes me want to cry :(
But that's the level that NFS started at, like they cut out the bit where they were actually good and skipped straight to the rubbish part.

This. The original was the last good game in the series for me.

Most Wanted was my favourite out of the entire series. This seems exciting.

Either this, or Criterion goes back to making good Burnout games.

Everyone wants underground 3. But these game companies don't listen to their customers.
