The game follows the story of Alexander J. Mercer (voiced by Barry Pepper) who wakes up on a morgue slab in the basement of Gentek, a large and influential genetic engineering company. Alex escapes and sets out to recover his memory and find out exactly what occurred. He soon discovers that he now possesses powerful shapeshifting abilities that grant him superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, weaponry and the ability to "consume" people to gain their memories, skills and appearance. With no memory of his previous life, Alex is forced to track down and consume those related to the conspiracy in order to uncover the truth. During his quest, Alex faces two factions. Blackwatch, a Fort Detrick special forces unit dedicated to combating biological warfare, and the Infected, consisting of civilians who have contracted a strange virus and powerful monsters known as Hunters. Captain Cross, a Blackwatch officer, is specifically given orders to find and contain Alex.

14 months after the Blacklight being Alex Mercer saved the infected New York on his quest for redemption, Sgt. James Heller returns to the city, once his home, following his dismissal from a war in the Middle East. He discovers that his wife and daughter have been killed, sending him into a downward spiral of grief and rage. He heads out on a suicide mission into the heart of the Red Zone with the intention of dying in action and taking as many abominations as he can with him.

On one such mission into the Red Zone Heller's team is killed and he was confronted by Alex Mercer. A fight ensues between the two, leading Heller attacking Mercer multiple times only to be thrown back. Impressed by his his actions, Mercer infects Heller with his own strain of the Blacklight virus as he believed him to be the perfect lieutenant in spreading the virus beyond Manhattan.[3] Heller awakens in one of Gentek's research facilities and manages to escape. He's then confronted by Mercer who manages to convince Heller that he was not responsible for the viral outbreak. Blackwatch and Gentek were using New York for testing bio-weapons. Mercer claims that he wouldn't be able to take down the two factions without help.

In-order to help Mercer, Heller had to develop his abilities. Heller sets out to foil Blackwatch and Gentek's operation is anyway he could.

Prototype 2 review round-up: Dumb but fun?

CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/343935/reviews/prototype-2-review-a-superbly-polished-world-of-destruction-review/): 8.0 - There's an abundance of weak missions and a daft storyline, but the free-running and combat are a joy - plus, it's fantastically bloody throughout.

OPM UK (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=344476): 9/10 - The ultimate manifestation of comic book violence.

GamesMaster (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=343967): 86% - Prototype 2 gives power to the player in ways many titles can only dream of. It gives you options, it lets you explore and experiment, and it's a riotous and compulsive experience. Drink it in.

IGN (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1223525p1.html): 7.0 - Having no impact is kind of the M.O. of Prototype 2. I enjoyed leveling up Heller and completing side quests, but none of it really meant anything to me. Outside of the Trophies I have for my efforts, I doubt I'll remember much of Prototype 2's sterile side missions and curse word-laden dialogue. Prototype 2 is fun, but it sure is forgettable.

Games Radar (http://www.gamesradar.com/prototype-2-review/): 8/10 - If you're looking for an epic, hugely varied adventure, look elsewhere, but if you want a game that lets you run amok in creative, bloody ways, Prototype 2 is pretty incredible.

Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/review-prototype-2-226294.phtml): 8/10 - Simply put, Prototype 2 is your number one choice for anybody who wants to inflict abject biological horror on an entire army of helpless individuals who are nonetheless just nefarious enough for you to feel justified.

I'm at 84% in Prototype 2 and can't find anything else to do, i've done all the blacknet missions or whatever they are called, i've collected all the blackboxes and destroyed all the lairs, how do i get to 100%? Can getting to 100% only be done through new game plus.

Also i have 33 of 38 mutations i need 4 more regen mutations and one mass mutation, where can i get these mutations from?

Usually you get Mutations from performing special actions, or by finishing Blacknet missions. I havent finished it 100% so I wouldnt know. But consuming certain people gets you mutations afaik.

I started a new game on new game plus, got the last 5 mutations from there i'm on my third new game and i'm playing on hard which isn't really that hard.

What's strange (to me anyway) is i've defeated all the field ops teams, found all the blackboxes, destroyed all the lairs, done all the blacknet and main story missions and still my save says i've 84% of the game completed, there isn't anything else to do to get to 100%, maybe when the developers release new challenges via radnet they will add up to 100% completion.

Probably the latter with the developers releasing stuff. Maybe if you run around the city you may find something though.
