Hey, I just got back from watching Constantine with my mom. I know, everytime I get insterested in a movie I watch it opening day, but that's because there rarely are any good movies. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Any way, this movie was great! It wasn't perfect, but great nonetheless. However, I don't recommend it for the squeemish, because it is scary. At the beginning of the movie Mom got mad at me since she got scared to death, but then later she said she was glad I recommended that movie because she liked it too. ( I've got a cool mom http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ).

Ok, I keep getting off topic. Although I thought this movie was great, there was just a little I didn't agree with. As most of you know I'm a Christian ( Not catholic), and the Christian references in this movie were pretty much catholic, and so I deisagreed with a lot of that. For example, I believe that in order to be saved is through Jesus Christ, and I think that as long as you are living you do have hope, but this movie had a lot of catholic beliefs, and I can't get too much into detail without spoiling the movie. However, I still think over all the movie had a good meaning, although a flawed meaning. I just have to remember the people who made this movie were not Christians ( I don't think), so they did a great job for what they know any way.

Ok, enough of what I think, you have got to see this movie for yourselves, it's really good. But like I said before, if you get scared easily I wouldn't recommend it. Although it wasn't too scary at all, it was pretty scary at the start. For those of you are are intersted in sci-fi action movies, this is the movie for you. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Mel,

You will find that Catholicism and other Christian religions have a LOT in common.

I'm also eager to see this movie as well. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Psone, i wouldnt classify it as a religious film. It deals with heaven and hell so of course it will have religious references.
But it isnt a "religious" film, it's based on a graphic novel, it's fantasy, it's REALLY good.

Once again Mel....You have impecabble taste! :D

I absolutly LOVED this movie. The story was so good and the ending was superb. All the heaven/hell stuff is extremely interesting to me and that made the movie even better with the whole son thing.

The beggining WAS a little creepy, but it got out of all that later, and really made for a great movie.

Definately a must see. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

i just saw constantine the other night, and it was meh okay.

nothing great.

the special effects were great. but the plot was very convoluted...

its like they tried to throw TOO much information at us and it just didnt work out. there were too many sub plots that didnt develop so to speak.

i would give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

You know what's more scary than the beginning of the movie, Soma? How much we have in common! haha. I don't think I've ever met anyone who had as much in common with me as you do. That is so cool though. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif And just like you said, I am also so fascinated with things to do with Heaven and Hell. Also, the half breeds really caught my interest. I love the effects they used for the wings too, they looked awesome.

Any way, Flipper, the Catholic and Christian religion do have a lot in common as you have mentioned; however, they have a lot of things that are not in common as well. For example, in the movie the catholics believed that Constantine could not go to Heaven because he had killed himself and was dead for 2 minutes or whatever. Most Christians don't believe that way. Also, most Christians believe that in order to get into Heaven you have to repent, but doesn't the catholics think a priest has do pray over you or something? And the Catholics believe in confessing to the priest, chants, and basically worshipping Mary and Joseph. I don't know a whole lot about the Catholic religion, so I could be wrong with some of their beliefs; however, the way I believe ( Christian) is a lot different. I don't believe in saying 10 hail mary's to be forgiven of your sins and stuff liek that. I just believe it the way the Bible says it. I strictly believe what the Bible has to say, and the reason why some Christians who believe in the Bible think differently on things is all about interpretation.

Any way, I will keep on the topic of Constantine instead of my beliefs. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Lol Mel, we ARE scary! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

The only part I didn't understand was why the sister still killed herself. Was it because she knew the demons could use her?

Oh, and did Gabriel kill Balthsar? Or was is the Memnon guy?

Apparently our minds do think a lot alike, because I'm curious about all of that too. haha! Any way, as far as the sister killing herself, I think it was just like you said. She knew the demons could use her. I think.... Or maybe because she had seen them so much and had finally had enough of it. I'm not sure... It had something to do with that scripture she wrote on the window though.

Oh, and yes, I think Gabriel did kill Balthsar. If you mean he was the guy who had the spear. And the Memnon guy was supposed to be satan's son, right? Or am I getting the names mixed up? Any way, I still don't totally understand the story 100%. I still have my questions.

Oh, and didn't you like the relationship between Constantine and that woman. ( I have no idea why I can't remember her name). I like it that they didn't make them so lovely dovey and drooling all over each other. That would have ruined it. The way they did their relationship reminded me a lot of how Kurtis and Lara acted to each other in AOD.

Any way, what other movies are you looking forward to Soma? Have you seen the previews for Batman Begins? Now that looks pretty cool. I'm not a fan of the old Batman movies though, but this new one looks like it will be really cool IMO. I guess we will have to wait and see. Oh! And I saw on yahoo that the next Underworld movie, " Underworld: Evolution" should be out in December I think. Some where around there. I can't wait!

The only thing I liked about the Batman movies was George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell in nipple batsuits. Does Chris have amnessia??? Because I saw him the other day at Centerpoint under the name Robbie Hicks.

Ciao!

I guess that makes sense. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

I haven't seen the previews for Batman yet, but I love Christian Bale, so it should be a plus.

And Yes, I can't wait for the new Underworld!!! I just don't know how they are gonna match the first one, it is soo incredible!!

Other than that, I haven't really seen any movies coming out in the near future that look all that interesting.

Oh, and btw Mel, you should REALLY read the Underworld prequel called Underworld: Blood Enemy. I just read it two days ago, and now it's like my favorite book! It details all about how Lucian met Soya, and how they fall in love, and how Vicktor........well you know the rest, but it was fantastic! Definately check it out. It really expands on Craven and Soren too, excellent!

And have you seen the Extended Underworld version?

Keanu Reeves is hot but he has a very pale butt. I mean Orlando Bloom has more of a tan than him!!!

And have you seen the Extended Underworld version? They have an Underworld book? I didn't know that. I'll definitely have to pick that up! I have so many unanswered questions about that movie, so I bet that the book helps answer most of them any way.

No, I haven't watched the extended cut yet of Underworld, but I have been wanting to for a while. I didn't know if i should buy it because I don't know if it have enough special features or not. So I guess I will ask you. Is it worth buying? Does it have enough new stuff in it? If so then I'll get it for sure. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

The book is called Blood Enemy, and it's all about Lucian and Sonja, but has a few Selene things in it. It is a really excellent book, and I actually cried when I read it (I couldn't believe I did!)cause you really get attched to the Sonja and Lucian characters and then.....well you know what happens. :(

Amazon book link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743480724/qid=1109517358/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-6803256-5533737?v=glance&s=books) *

And as for the Extended Movie, I really enjoyed it. There was alot more of a relationship aspect in it between Selene and Micheal, and Craven and Erika. You find out what happened to Micheals wife/girlfriend, and Selene and him seem to like each other a lot more.

The new content isn't anything "unrated" either, like Original Sin. Other than a scene between Craven and Erika, it's pretty clean, nothing spoils it like the formerly mentioned movie.

The DVD has some cool stuff on it to, like Bloopers and some Vampire stuff. So I really liked it. I want to read the novelization so I can really get a feel for it.

*Edited to fix long, page stretching link. Wow, the book sells for a great price! I'll definitely be getting that. I will probably cry too. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I'm glad the extended version doesn't have, "unrated" junk in it. It seems like almost every movie is releasing "unrated" dvds. I seriously don't understand who would actually want to watch junk like that. Any way, like I said before, I'm glad it's not "unrated". One thing I loved about the last Underworld is that it was clean. Violence doesn't bother me, language (unless it's way overused) doesn't bother me, but nudity and sex scenes make me sick. So, I was glad that Underworld didn't have that in it. Well, thanks for all te good tips on the book and extended version of the movie. I can't wait to read/ watch them. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Like I said, there is a short "unrated" scene between Erika and Craven, but it isn't anything major, no real nudity or anything.

I just don't want it to spoil the movie for you if you really like it without it. :(

But the book it a definate plus! And I hope you enjoy it!

As long as the scene isn't too majorly bad I won't let it spoil the movie for me. No worries. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

The movie was indeed interesting and fun to watch, but… considering this is a Tomb Raider forum I’m astonished with the fact that no one mentioned it was (partially) about the spear of destiny, one of the artefacts Lara pursued, and, as far as I remember, the only one she wasn’t able to keep… I just wonder how it got out from the bottom of the ocean… http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
