I just stopped by the post office to send a gift to someone, and was perturbed by the fact that not only did I have to write what was in the present (element of surprise) on the front, I also had to write the exact price! (way to make someone feel tight) So the joy of giving gifts has been lost thanks to letter bombers.

Luckily it is compulsory to also include your address so the reciever can return their unsurprisng, cheap gift if they dont like it.

 Is this what happens there? I've never heard of it. Ok, I can understand if you have to write down what the package contains... But why the price? Are they willing to pay you their value is case they lost the package? This happens here when you send money. But they pay only the 10%

What happened to your yawn, ELEN?

ELEN, do you in Greece also have to write ON THE PACKAGE what's in it? Like in a_e's situation? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Here in my country it has to be filled in on a paper you save instead of on the package itself.

Neither on the package nor on a piece of paper. Nowhere... This is our choice. If we think that the item is valuable, we can then make an agreement with the post office. If they lose it, I get back the 10%.

Joseph that would be called common sense something for which our Australia Post just does not possess. Our Telstra is just as bad. We have a system where you punch in * 10 # on the phone to retrieve the last person who rang you it tells you the phone no of the last person who rang, then says press 1 to return the call or hang up and dial later. Great idea unless the person calling you has a unlisted phone no. The message just says your last call was from a private no. Obviously the person rang you wants to speak to you but you have no idea who it was. You cannot even press 1 to return the call (which would be sensible) as you would still not know the no. Your just left hanging around wondering who rang you. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

Its because we are not allowed to send something worth over $500, for some reason, so we have to write the exact price.

What a joke.

I tend to send items using Special Deliery, it's the package system that Royal Mail do. Simpler, cheaper, and quicker than dealing with the post office system directly.

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif hell of alot cheaper than DHL, Fedral Express or Business Post.

Hmm, what "other" parts might you be talking about? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

Shipping over in the US is better (or worse if you're concerned about security). All we see on the box is the name of the sender and basically their address.
