View Full Version : Chocolat (2000)
Lasse Hallström's wonderfully quirky comedy about a woman and her daughter who open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community. Reminded me somewhat of Footloose, and Kevin Bacon's task of bringing music (and life) to a small western town. Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp and Dame Judi Dench as the irrepressible Armande Voizin. Pic was accompanied by an amazing soundtrack by Rachel Portman (no relation to Natalie) and really capture the spirit of small-town France.
Direction was pretty damn good too, especially the river-boat fire scene. Performances good all round, and the underlying message about embracing all life tastefully put across.
Three stars? You gave Ocean's 12 three stars.
Chocolat is definitely worth more than three stars.
I loved Chocolat.
Jonny Depp was HOT in that!
Please croft28, don´t talk about JonnY! Or i have to have a cold shower! :D
I think you may have a good point. Upon reflection, Ocean's 12 has been downgraded to two stars.
Advice: DO NOT watch this movie if you don't have chocolates all around you :D
Yeah. That's good advice actually. Made me hungry for chocolate too!
Good movie. (tlr online, why your stars are so golden, so bright? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif :D )

A great movie, and I second what Anubis & tlr said, it really awakens those chocolate cravings. That much delicious chocolate in a movie should be illegal! :D
Yes!.....it did make me crave chocolate!....among other things ;)
