View Full Version : Prince of Persia - Warrior Within
First, some beautiful screens (my comp seems to be in a permanent dark mood so I had to lighten them up a bit in Photoshop, but otherwise they're authentic):
Now, I have to say I'm usually suspicious about games in which the main villain's a warrior babe in bikini armor. I mean come on, I've got two swords and she's practically naked - and she's STILL kicking my ass?! But as soon as I got to playing PoP2 I saw this game has much, much more to offer. Controls take a bit of getting used to, but the graphics and environments are absolutely gorgeous! Not to mention the main character - the Prince's got the looks AND he's got the agility. Cover your head in shame, Kurtis! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
All in all, a great game http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I hope it's long.

Ive neva played the game but it looks cool and so does he!!! *Squeels*
I'm playing this game right now and I'm getting close to the ending.
It's a really great game! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
If you have played the first game "Sands of time", then you'll pretty much know how the controls work. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
About the game's length, in my opinion it's a long game, compared to Sands of time it's much longer.
Warrior Within is 26 chapters I think, I have 3 chapters left now... ;)
By the way, thanks Catlantean for those great pics!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif :D
Later on in the game you'll come to a few levels that take place in a garden, and that enviroment looks amazing....really breathtaking!
POP sands of time and Warrior Within are both great games. If you like TR these games will suit you down to the ground. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
(You do need a good graphics card.)
Thanks for the reminder Sim ! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif :D
BTW, for all you who have finished the game - how do I kill the bikini armor babe (3rd level I think)? Is there any way to avoid losing an outrageous amount of health after each cut-scene in which you struggle with her? I tried blocking and I tried rolling aside, but neither worked. I hope it's not scripted...
i like the POP warrior within
i like the moves kinda like a tr game only set in Perisa
but one thing though i hate the chases by the dahaka
please delete this post
looks like i enterd it twice

POP:WW - superb graphics, sounds, effects and super-cool moves, BUT this game has quite week story which makes it boring (have played only demo of POP:WW) This game is missing breath-taking story, atleast SOT. :(
(but leave it at that! i'll play it - however http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif )

Anyone want to no the Forums 4 this games cos im on there??
I just ran into my first bug - and it's hilarious! :D I completed a level and, for some reason, the Prince turned into this corpsey freak:
You gotta admit it, even undead he's still got the looks http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif
01kr01, please post that link to the PoP Forums. I think people there would be interested in hearing about this bug too :D
Ok its, http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=400102&f=747107822
Its that i think, if any probs then PM me ok???
The bug may look hilarious but actually it's not!!
If you haven't, then just stop playing now, because otherwise a big part of the story will be unveiled in a cutscene (meant for far later into the game near the end)
And eventually after that you'll get to a place where you have no way of proceeding since you are lacking important equipment.
I have not experienced this bug myself, since I'm playing on gamecube (apparently the most bug-free console when it comes to this game).
The PC version seems to have most bugs... :(
And serious bugs too which totally prevents you from finishing the game.
Maybe you've been to the POP forums and gotten some help on this matter, if not I'll try to help you the best I can.
I quite recently became a member at those forums and at the moment I'm trying to help a person there who's experienced the same bug as you did.
Now jumping to a happy occasion:
I finished Warrior Within tonight!! (both endings)
And yes it's a great game!
At the beginning, I thought the story was nothing compared to SOT but as I got closer to the ending the plot thickened and I thought the story was very well and cleverly written.
And about those endings.....they BEG for a third Prince of Persia!! :D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
So it's a serious bug? Eeeek! Luckily I saved wherever possible, it won't be a problem for me to resume playing. But I'm curious :D I'll take the pic over to the PoP forums to find out exactly what it's about...
Thanks for telling me, I really thought it was just a funny bug, you know like the messed-up characters in AOD http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Maybe I should get into the PoP games... The locations look gorgeous!
I played the first game for five minutes in a store once, and just died and died. Not fun... But I could give it another go.
Ok Catlantean here it goes, I just found out that the person that I was trying to help with this bug managed to do it by following these instructions I sent him:
"If you are at a time portal that is not active DO NOT SAVE THE GAME. Activate the portal first.
Otherwise next time you load the game you could be a guy with blue glowing eyes and will put forward in the plotline quite a few hours without the equipment you will need to advance and hence be stuck.
Maybe this could help you if you reload the game from somewhere before that portal, I don't know, but try. And if it doesn't, then re-install the game maybe and play always keeping in mind about that saving by the portals problem.
Let's hope it works out!"
There you go, keep this in mind and you should be able to enjoy the game the way that you're supposed to I hope! :D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
I know, I passed it already (now I'm running from the Dahaka, damn what a scary beast! It looks a bit like the Balrog http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif ). But thanks anyway http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Thats ok, so u r goin on it arnt u??? and i am on there and my user is kjr012003!!!
Wat may yours be???
I'm there, username tanarri23 http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Beutiful Pics Cat!
I´ve never palyed The Prince, but now i want to play!!!
R u on there now??? Cat???
I was there, but as I haven't finished the game yet most posts there are too spoilerish for my taste...but once I complete the game I'll probably hang around a bit more http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I'm speechless. The graphics... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
Thanks for the screenies Cat
Here's the Dahaka:
Dahaka means the laugh(Noun) in Arabic :D
I like it http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
There is an off topic section, and Valentines Day is one i would love 4 u to look at and then PM me on there to tell me wat u think, plz???

What game is the best? First or second? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I never played the first (Sands Of Time) so I can't tell which is the best. But I recommend Warrior Within, it's great and I just can't stop playing it :D
Heh, now I remember I played THE first Prince of Persia ages ago in DOS. Those were the days :D
[ 25. February 2005, 21:40: Message edited by: Catlantean ]
LOL! Even TR 1 looks better than that :D
Glad to hear that you don't have a problem anymore! ;)
So you're dealing with the Dahaka now....he he well there'll be alot more chasing from his part before the game is over! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
But it's not so bad, it's just a matter of having fast reflexes and then the rewind option can also be helpful if you slip and do a mistake for example if you aren't sure where you're suppposed to go the first time in a chase! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif
Well.....keep running! :D
Staying away from the forums a bit is a very good choice since you haven't completed the game yet and you're right, the place is FULL of spoilers without any warnings!!
Oh god you're asking me to choose? ;)
This is such a difficult question!!
Those two games are so great in their own ways...
I've played through the first game 3 times now, and I don't get tired of it!!
I recently bought the second one and finished it for the first time yesterday.
The second game is longer, darker and a bit harder.
The first game has so much story, great characters and so on.
Both games have really strong stories and great characters.
To conclude it all....
If you're thinking of playing Prince of Persia then I definitely think you should start with the first one Sands of time, and then continue with the sequel Warrior Within. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
That's my advice! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Catlantean now you gave me nightmares when you posted that picture!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif
Just kidding... ;)
The thing is that I unlocked that game in Sands of time and I tried it a bit......well let me say this, it only ended with me doing this: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif
It was so frustrating!! Who knew it would be so hard just to jump over a spiked pit in the old games!?
I just kept on dying.....and dying yet again and therefor had to start from the beginning!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif
I'm so grateful for today's modern games... :D
[ 25. February 2005, 22:07: Message edited by: Angelina ]
Yeah, the old game was a pain. I never completed it http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
he had big fat flat shoes on and made lots of noise when running and never followed the controls unlessed pressed twice
Yes the controls in that old game was a nightmare to me!!
I found SoT for around 10 pounds (cheap) and ordered it. I`ll get it in a few days. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I need some adventure and it looks fun. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Lol, I remember watching my brother play Prince of Persia on his Amiga back in the early nineties. :D It was really cool! I still remember falling onto those spikes...
Hi Thorir! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif
That's great news! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
In my opinion (and there are many who agrees), SOT have one of the best stories ever written for a game.
I'm quite sure that you'll enjoy the game, I love it! ;)
I feel quite certain that if you play both POP1 and POP2.....then you'll be the way I am...can't wait for a third game!!! :D
How come it's always like this?
It always seems as if though I'm waiting and waiting for some new game to come out!
At the moment it's TR7 and POP3, and also the new Zelda game...
Well it never ends... ;)
In two years or so I'll be waiting impatiently for TR8 and POP4.. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ;)
new zelda game??? for which console!! ( i love the zelda series, tomb raider, roller coaster tycoon, dmc, FF,gta and ratchet and clank series
and of course PoP but i have not got PoP 2 yet
I know, I`m waiting for games and movies all the time. :D
I`m looking foward to Red Ninja, Bujingai, Blood will tell, Bloodrayne 2, Shadow Hearts, Tenchu, MGS 3... I`m hyped! Really looking foward to PoP now. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Plus, it was on Platinum. And I don`t have to wait ages to get the second one if I really like the first. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
www.gametrailers.com (http://www.gametrailers.com) and video reviews on www.gamespot.com (http://www.gamespot.com) is great for hyping up!
And I hate delays!
Prince Of Persia very cool game...i'm playing it rite now but a bit stuck....anyways the prince looks cool but kurtis is better....p.s is he from another world?
Hey, cat u on the forums now??
Yes the new Zelda game looks awesome!!
Link has grown up again... ;)
The game will be released some time this year, I've heard it will be before summer....but you can never be sure about these things.
I don't know which consoles it will be released on, gamecube for sure (which is what I have), other than that I don't know, does Nintendo even release games to other consoles than their own?? I don't think so...or am I wrong??
Thorir, you seem to have alot to look forward to! :D
I always get real hyped up too when it's a game I REALLY want!! (I've already told you which they are....)
Hmm about the comparison between the Prince and Kurtis...
In my opinion they don't even play in the same league.... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Kurtis is like way down at the bottom somewhere with some other garbage and the Prince is at the top! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
*Ok sorry, maybe that was a bit cruel of me.... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif *
But hey we all have very different tastes and opinions, and that's not a bad thing....the world would be kind of a boring place if we all thought just the same! ;)
I still can't stop admiring the locations in this game, they're just so beautiful!
And the enemies are pretty cool too:
When I finish Warrior Within, I think I'll go play Sands of Time http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Hey, Angelina, did you say you had unlocked both endings on the GC version? I've played it twice through on the cube too, but only got one ending. Do you have to get all health upgrades to unlock it because I reallly want to see the alternative ending? I know where all but one upgrade is. Some of them are damn hard to get to aswell! Traps worthy of Lara!
Yes I've unlocked both endings on the GC version, and you're totally right, the way to see the alternative ending is to find all nine lifeupgrades.
After you've found them all the watersword will be waiting for you in the throneroom, pick it up, and then you'll fight the Dahaka instead of the empress in the final battle!
Beat him and you'll get the second ending, or rather the true ending. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
And I'm telling you the second ending is so much better than the first one!!
So it's definitely worth the effort, makes you jump up and down in anticipation for POP3... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif
The first ending is so bad and boring compared to the other one which is way longer and you get to see a lot more...I won't say more than that though! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif
About the upgrades, tell me which ones you've got and I can tell you where the last one is.
It's indeed a challenge getting all those upgrades.....as for the traps at least the Prince has one advantage over Lara.....the ability to slow down time. ;)
Thanks Angelina! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
When I played it through the first time, by boyfriend said 'Well, at least you didn't have to fight the Dahaka' and 'I said no, Thank God!'
But I'll definitlely have another go. Its hard explainig which upgrades I've got because its been a couple of months since I played it, but here goes:
1. The one above the water puzzle garden, in the little room up high.
2. The one down below the main lever room where you use the key sword to move the big climby blocks (that one's a bugger!)
3. The one where you hit a switch, slow down time and run through a concealed doorway (before you fight the big really hard troll dude)
4. The one where you go off the side of a drop, shimmy along, and wall run (part of the water tower puzzle on that level where you get a really nice view of the sea and floaty clouds!)
5. The one where you go behind the altar after you defeat Shahdee
6.The one where you get the big fireball throwing troll dude to knock down the wall for you in the clock tower puzzle
7. The one near the beginning of the game after you get the sands proper and stand on that floor switch, slow down time, run up some steps and roll through a small grate.
Gah! I know I got one more but I can't remember which one!I might have to get back to you after I've racked my brains some more!
But I'm really intrigued about this other ending. I was really disappointed because it doesn't mention it at all on the Cube box. I thought I'd have to buy it for the PS2 as well. But its definitely best on the lovely cube. And the Prince is HOT!
*Sorry double post!*

I agree with you, gamecube is the best console! ;)
And as for the Warrior Within game, apparently the gamecube version is the one which has the least bugs... :D
I didn't encounter a single bug through the game! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
I see you've found most upgrades, good work!
I'm suspecting that you have missed the ninth upgrade since that one is a bit hard to find.
You can't get this upgrade until you have the Scorpion sword, and it's in the room before the sacrificial Altar.
You know, the room where you run after Shayhdee and she disappears through a door that closes.
In this room you swing on a bar to get higher up, and then you walk around on beams alot and fight a few enemies along the way.
I think you know which place I'm talking about, the first time you went through here early in the game you went all the way up there to pull a lever which opened the door into the next room.
Anyway, as you're making you're way over the beams and to the various platforms where you fight some enemies you'll come to one of the platforms that has a wall with cracks in it.
Break the wall, then you find a crate in there, pull out the crate and use it to climb up on the wall, grab the edge and pull yourself up, and then you'll be on your way to the ninth upgrade!
So is this the one you might have missed??
Nope, I definitely missed that one. Thanks! I'm going to have to wait awhile to replay it though, because MGS 3: Snake Eater comes out on Friday so I will have no chance of getting anywhere near the T.V once the boyf gets a hold of a copy! Men!
I really want to go back and play Sands of Time, too. I guess I 'll have to wait, maybe take up tiddlywinks or something... :D
Oh well! :D
Sounds like you'll just have to get yourself your very own gamecube! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif
Yes SOT is really worth replaying, I'm replaying it for the fourth time now! ;)
I have got my own cube, (in fact we're getting a third!)but it means I'll be relegated to the bedroom and the tiny portable T.V, and I won't be able to gaze at the Prince in all his luscious, full-colour widescreen glory! :D
