I am still not able to get noises on my game. I tried getting into the setup.exe using the C:\ prompt, as you suggested, but the same thing happens like when I tried to install the game. The screen goes blank, my PC whirs like it is starting to do something, but then nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? How can I get audio so I can hear the monsters/creatures/animals during game play?

Any help is appreciated!

Howdy TeeJay. I've dropped Paul an email mentioning this thread. In the meantime, check out VDM Sound, which can be downloaded from either our Windows XP (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp.html) page or the VDM Sound (http://www.jacuzzi.com/products/baths/private/la_scala72.htm#) homepage. This is a virtual DOS machine application for Windows 2000 & Windows XP and comes loaded with documentation.

Apologies. The correct web site for the VDM Sound Project can be found here (https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/)

You mean the background sound? So you can hear Lara's footsteps and pistol shots, but not the roars and creaks in the background? These sounds are audio tracks on the CD. They won't play under Windows XP, but Glidos should fix that. But you must have the TR CD in your first CD drive (the one who'd drive letter is firstmost in the alphabet), and that CD drive must be set up to play audio CD's. I.e., either you need an internal connection from that CD drive to your audio card, or you need digital CD audio enabled for that drive.

Paul,

I've already been using VDMsound. Yes, I have the background noises, creaks and groans, etc. I do not have footsteps, animal noises, etc. I am using my TR1 CD in the only CD drive I have. It is set up to play CD's, because we listen to music on it all the time. I am not sure what else to try.

What next?

Sorry, been a while since I've visited this forum.

The thing to do is bring up a fullscreen command prompt and type

C:\Tombraid
DOSDRV
setup.exe

You will see the TR audio setup menu. Select autodetection. Then save the settings.
