View Full Version : 11 hardest TR-gaming moments (not 10)
Vote for one of these or suggest your own...
- Turning the bars into gold
- Getting some air at the beginning of 40 Fathoms
- Reaching that room full of stone warriers and ninja's and realising you didn't bring enough stuff with you.
- It's so easy to never see that penny in Aldwych
- Pulling the guy away from the grate in City of the Dead (Like I knew u could do that!)
- Underneath the Spinx, and wandering into the dead end cave full of traps OVER and OVER again.
- That damn cook
- The sprint in the Roman cave to reach the pedastal (Nicky must be pig-sick of dealing with this one)
- The previous level to that one, where you must shoot 3 snakes in front of a door for about the same of length of times it takes to complete the rest of the game.
- Red Ghost (Made worse because of the noise it makes)

Not obvious to see why I get stuck so much is it? :(
Both from TR4
Getting by the blades in The Lost Library unscratched.
Getting by the second set of steam pipes in Trenches unscratched.
for AOD add the cleaner NOT shooting you, that was the only hiccup in my stats when last playin it

lol even the cook in in the submarine level is hard
yeah he could be a nuisance when you disturb him
don't forget the firing-laser guys in big suit at the VCI stage kinda scary when they start shooting at you
The giant bugs at Great Pyramid with manual targeting, pistols only and all kills :D
LOL TR-Player, you know I had a try of manual targetting for the first time yesterday. You must be joking!

But I will agree with Net. Getting by the blades in LL and the 2nd pair of pipes in Trenches without losing any health, can really drive you mad!!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif Don't try it if you don't have strong nerves  http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
All games (that had it): having to face the ominous T-Rex. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif It's like you (or me anyway) have to wait a sec. to get your courage up before you go in, and/or -out- like in the Crash Site (TR3).
the tr3 t-rex is probably the easiest
I think if you never played TR before, and TR1 was your first game, the giant mutant at the end on that tiny platform was quite challenging. I kept running into it because I didn't holster the guns. I also kept falling off. Once I stood too close to it and when it blew up, it took poor Lara with it! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif
Finally, I got the hang of it, running from corner to corner, taking a few shots each time. Pretty easy after that, but took forever to learn!
Of course, that awful dragon in TR2 was a bugger. The dagger in its belly was hard to see, and sometimes there wasn't enough time to grab it, especially if the dragon fell over toward Lara, and she had to run around it. If you weren't paying attention to the opening video of the game, you might not even know about that dagger. I usually don't pay much attention to those films, but luckily, I was watching this time! The machine guns didn't seem to have much range in that level.
Ever since that game, I have saved my ammo for the end, usually for nothing.
I would like to think, killing the Railgun man after going the wrong way at the start of the Von Croy Saga (TRC) would be one of the challenging.
You could add it to most annoying, when you realise it was the wrong sodding way to go. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I remember doing it over and over just to prove to the team you *can* kill him, just took some practise and a save game before falling in there ;)
Another one I would again (again TRC - VCI) would be the helicopter chase.. because not only do you have the Helicopter after you with only a limited number of hiding places, but 2 cyborgs as well.
The entire Helicopter bit was a nightmare though, even the playtesters ended up doing a good few tries at it.
Oh.. and the whole Lift area, where you had to jump from the wires, to money bars to swing bars, etc..
Also I would say the bit in AOD, where your going between the Greenhouse to the Aqua Centre; and you have those 2 sentry guns.. problem being is you have to go where they can shoot you to get to the valve.
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I also remember in TR1 where I could never find my guns again but you start on a level where your getting shot at by someone who won't sodding quit. Cheated every damn time to get my pitols to kill him and get on with the game, to this day never discovered what I actually had to do.
TR3. The penny thing killed me. :(
tr2, i kept falling from that balcony thing in the first bit and AOD, boaz, when i killed the mutent in the botanical gardens and those big bugs come out and ummmmm...and brother obscura. have you noticed no-ones said the real baddies aka, eckardt and karel?
sorry in last post i forgot to say it was in the opra house
Neither of those were hard for me  , except the couple for AOD http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif .

He was like a Texas guy or some kind of cowboy talking person. I had no weapons and kept trying to run into him and knock him down. Thought maybe Lara would grab his gun and take it away from him. Very aggravating. Good one!
