PC Gamers rejoice Half-Life 2 is getting its first expansion. Valve Software has confirmed that Half-Life 2: Aftermath is in the works, and will make an official announcement with details on the game in the coming weeks

The specifics of the game are still very unclear. It is known that hero Gordon Freeman's sultry sidekick, Alyx, will play a large part in the add-on, but in what context is anyone's guess. Whether she will be a playable character, as previously rumored, is unknown

The expansion will take place immediately after the conclusion of Half-Life 2 and will see Freeman and Alyx fleeing from City 17 and its impending destruction. "You and Alyx are leading the flight from the city getting up close and personal with some of the creatures and sights from the end of the game," says Laidlaw.

Wow, awesome

I haven't seen the movies yet, as I really don't feel like waiting 50 minutes in line...

I really can't wait to get this game :D . I hope it will be released in stores, as I heard a while ago that it might be released through Steam only...

Looks like I'm not the only one who are satisfied and amazed by Valve's wonder called Half-Life 2 and soon coming Aftermatch! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif Sometimes I have a feel that this game has its own intelect (AI)! :D (btw, quite interesting file structure it has). Can't wait to see Alyx and Gordon back again! :D

The line when it was put up 3day was non-existant, they've gone up to 60minutes today.. ridiculous.

I'm not so amazed with thier HDR implimentation, in-fact I would go as far to say that Valve don't ACTUALLY know what HDR really is. That said neither does the other 90% of game companies so, won't hold that against them. Cause it does add some nice depth.

Aftermath looks good, according to Valve it's going to either be Free or $20 for people who already own Half-Life 2. It will of course be buyable as a solo thing.

I'm not sure what Aftermath will contain itself, as I only know what Half-Life 3 has... which is the story where you get to play as Alyx as the Hero (no Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 3 at all). It also runs along a slightly different story, while set in the same universe it is quite different.

I do look forward to seeing what Aftermath has though, given the original game felt just so short... I would like to have some more game and story than just driving around. While that part was nice and relaxing, it really felt like they were padding the game.

While that part was nice and relaxing, it really felt like they were padding the game. How would game developers not know what HDR is when they're implementing it?

Also, where did you hear the details about Half-Life 3? Link?

Cant wait for Aftermath though.
