View Full Version : replay Tomb Raider
I'm going to start playing Tomb Raider I again and wondered if there was a trick to making it run ok in Windows ME ?
Bruin,
What kind of problems are you having?
Hi Pimmie. two things happen. sometimes I get program closing arguments, or it begins to run, and then bins out. I wonder whether or not this could be due to the fact that Windows ME doesn't use DOS the same way Windows 98 does, what do you think ?
Has anyone managed to get Tomb Raider I running on Windows ME ?
Hi there Bruin,
I couldn't run Chronicles on 98 due to a lot of problems it gave (see technical forum). I then reinstalled one of my PC's with ME and hey presto, I could run Chronicles. The problems you're having now can be caused by the fact that the older TR game can't cope with the new ME structure (ME's use of hardware/software) or vice versa.
I'll install TR I at home on ME and try to find out what's causing the problems.
Take care

I was afraid of this too, running a ME macine, evidently there is enough DOS shell/emulator left to do it though. I have had no problem, other than I have to run in software mode, can't use my GeForce 2 to do graphics. TR1 gives me less trouble on my machine than TR2
Just tried loading Tomb Raider 1 on an old Win95 machine, 32MB ram, real rust bucket - runs purfect :)

Hey Raiders.....don't know much about playing tr on PC but notice that alot of you do.....I have a dreamcast, unfornately though they only made TR last Revelation and Chronicles.....and we just got a new computer with Window ME and it came with the Chronicles game (haven't tried playing it on PC yet) and I was going to purchase TR3 for PC since I've never played that......but it's been said that TR is having problems with windows ME?????.........Does anyone recommend that I still should buy TR3 and trying it, cause I really enjoy playing TR and it's to bad Dreamcast only made the last two episodes.......give me a shout out on this subject......thanks.....keep on raidin' http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

eriksgirl. Tomb Raider III should run fine on a Windows ME machine meeting the minimum hardware requirements, Tomb Raider I however may need some configuring before it runs ok on ME.
thank you much tlr online......I'm going to purchase tr3 and let you know how it goes.....Aloha.....keep on radin' http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I installed TR1 on windows ME and it worked fine! I think you are having problems with the CD. Try loacing Windows 98 again and see if it still works.
