*sigh*

a couple years ago i was pre-selected to go to this modeling/acting audition. this one lady who interviewed me for the modeling part loved me. she wanted me to take more pics and bring them in to her the next day. since i made the cut i had the chance to go to this expo in texas and thus wouldve been signed on to whatever modeling company this woman was a part of. but because of my dad not having a job we couldnt pay for this trip.

2 nights ago i recieved a letter about being pre-selected for another modeling/acting audition - the same company that sent me this letter a few years ago.
today a woman from this company called me to ask if i recieved the letter. i said i did but i dont think i would be attending, even tho id LOVE to. because i dont want to have to get my hopes up again because we still would not be able to pay for the expo in florida this time. the woman on the phone works with the lady who interviewed me and told me it is very rare for somone to get a second letter. blah blah blah...
so she said i should give it a try and that i can maybe get support from family, about money, and other companies, etc.

i talked to my mum and dad and they act as if they don't want this for me :( i understand that money is tight and my mum, and myself, would be too embarrased to ask family for money. but this just sucks. i want this SO badly. im 18 and can be my own descision about this, but it all comes down to money. that i dont have and my parents dont.

i feel so stuck in a rut at the moment. im just overwhelmed. i can't help but think that this is somewhat of a sign that this modeling thing can happen. but its right here and its like i can't have it. i cannot describe how badly i want this. and i feel like i have no support what so ever from my parents.

i don't know what to do.

should i just go alone and hope for the best?

ugh. this bites. :(

maybe you could get people to sponsor you or something, there has to be a way to get the money somehow. i'm sure you'll figure something out cos if you want it that badly you will get it http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

How much will it cost?

TRChik

i can't remember but i think it was over 2000. maybe a bit less... maybe a bit more. i forget.

the woman said i can get sponsors... but i think she meant family. and my mum doesn't want me to ask family.

If you can't ask your family...who can you ask?

Can you open a Paypal account and accept donations from friends? If everyone contributes 5 dollars, you would probably make it.

I hope you can, you are gorgeous and you should follow your dreams. Who knows it will not be the start of a profitable career and then you can help your parents and all! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

the woman on the phone mentioned other sources of sponsors that would be on some sheet they'd give me.

thanks for the idea gomes, but i dont have many friends atm... theres been tons of bs ive had to deal with involving my non existant best friends.

i think you should definatly give it ago TRchik if you want it so much! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Keep saving, and do ask your family for help.. your mum should realise how much you want this, so she should let you ask for support from your family.

And, if i had some money, and lived near you, i'd definatly post some dinero through your letter box! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif hehe. good luck TRChik

oh i just edited my last post.

Well if your parents dont care, then you should annoy them until they realise!! Do you think there are alternatives? Perhaps you will find another agency where you dont have to pay that much...maybe you could surf the web and have a look. Im very sure that theres other opportunities. Do not give up!! and stay happy http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Btw, do you have a job? If you do, keep saving up the money from that.

i do have a job, but i have to save the money for college next year.

there is an agency in Boston, Model Club. but i should loose weight before i go there... im hesitant to go too because last time i was there for an interview they called me back saying they already have my look and to call back in 6 months. bs.

it just made me happy to know that they sent me another letter. idk maybe if they want me so badly i wont have to go to the expo.

I'm not sure what's right for you right now, but if it ends up you don't go, I'm confident other opportunities will present themselves to you, or that you will be able to find them. If this is something you really want, there's a way to make it happen!

If its that important to you then get a bank loan. You could back it back in a few years easily.

Maybe your parents are seeing you grow up and don't want to let you go rather than not caring.

I can't say much about parents who hold their children down, but I'm glad I told mine to go to hell when she pulled it on me.

Aww, that really stinks Jess! I really, really hope this works out for you, because if anoyone deserves that job it's definitely you! You are so gorgeous. I hope everything works out, andI wish I could give some advice, but I'm pretty much clueless. That's very smart of you to save for college though, that shows how mature you are to think ahead. Most people would have probably used their savings for their modeling.

I have faith in you sis, I know that you definitely have the beauty to become a model, and I'll be praying that everything works out for you. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

Think long-term.

If this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime things where this is your only chance to get into the business then take it. Otherwise don't sweat it, we all have things we would have done differently if we could have and its best not to dwell on them.

TRChik

i don't think id want to take out a loan.... it might become a habbit.

thanks for the support guys http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

cruz - im taking that this might be a once in a life time thing.. i passed it by the first time and its come back again a second time so i dont think i should pass it.

ill just have to see what happens. maybe i can get out of going to the expo and the woman in charge can just sign me on http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif thatd be the easy way out. but we'll see.

thank you mel for your prayers http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

k - school will always come first. this modeling thing isnt like a real daily job. so it wont take away from school time. it could be a couple jobs a month or so. maybe even every other month. they money id make from them would be really good and i can save that for college stuff too, like the very expensive books

I do think you'd be a great model, tr chik, but check this company out with your Better Business Bureau, or Chamber of Commerce before you do anything. I'm very suspicious of an outfit that expects you to pay them for anything, or that won't pay your travel costs.

TRChik
07-05-05, 14:31
well we arent paying them, but we have to pay for flight and hotel accomodations. its not just a couple people, other wise im sure maybe theyd flip the bill. but itd be a group of girls/guys.
