Hi guys, I hope some one can help me with my computer problem. My computer has been working just fine, no problems at all, when just recently I was playing a Java game and my computer would just automatically restart for no reason. I quit playing the game and it stopped, but then today I wasn't playing a game I was just doing what I normally do on the computer and it automatically restarted again. I did a virus scan and I have no virus, what could be wrong?

Hi Melonie. You could try PC-Pitstop (http://www.pcpitstop.com/) . That is - if you're sure you don't have anything like adware. But this doesn't sound like adware.

Melonie , I think that you have the virus "W32.Blaster.Worm" , this virus shuts down your pc every 5-10 minutes.
When your pc is going to restart, do you see this image?:

*** sure , the message is in english.

Thanks for your help guys, but I dunno if I have a virus because for one thing it only restarts when I play java games normally, but other than that it RARELY restarts and when it does there is no warning, no popup sign or any thing. I have done many virus scans on it and nothing showed up, so I dunno what could be wrong with it. Thanks for your help though.

Hi Mel http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

If you think it's something to do with Java, you could go to Internet Explorer and de-select Java (uninstalling it) and then re-install it. Or, you might try installing the real Java from sun.com.

Or, go to http://support.microsoft.com/support, go to the version of Windows you have and type in restart or something like that. The one thing MS does right is tech support on their web site :D

the above image that AAO showed has been linked to a virus AND also some software problems. it is the RPC process that runs in the background for internet and network resources - if you manually shut it down (its called svchost.exe) you will recieve that message and your PC wil shut down in 30 seconds because windows has detected a break in its procedure calling.

back to the issue at hand tho - i have had about a thousand and one different reasons for PCs shutting down on their own. certian software, hardware calls, memory (RAM) faults, power flucuations causing the powersupply to tell the motherboard to shutdown (newer PC's) - so it could be many things. More often than not the computer restarting on its own will be of two possible reasons:

1. a hardware fault - ie. motherboard, RAM, etc
2. a virus/malicious software

From what you have narrowed it down to possibly being linked to the java software it could be something that is running in internet "cache" - possibly try clearing your cache. In Internet Explorer press Tools menu --> Internet Options. Then press the "Delete Files..." button in the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab.

i know its a simple thing - but make sure your virus scan is upto date - there are at least 2-4 new virus's created every day...

um... if you have any other concerns or ideas where this could be linked to post it. i am always happy to help http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
