I can tell a story, which might not seem scary, but for me it is, bcz it happened to me. My best friend and I were going to her house one late evening during winter. The bus we had to take stopped quite far from her house, so we had to walk for aobut 20 minutes or so. We were walking up a hill, and on the right side of the road was a really creepy old house which had been abandoned for years. As we were sitting on the bus she told me that she had seen a woman dressed in white walking past one of the windows inside the house. I didn't think more about it then, but as we walked past the house, I turned my head and looked up at it. As I was passing by, I saw a woman, dressed in white, by the top left window. She seemed to be hanging from a ceiling rafter with a rope around her neck. I froze and quickly looked away, and as I turned my head again, the woman was gone......and the rafter she had hung by too http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif I got home safe and went to bed, but woke up a few hours later bcz I had a horrible nightmare. I sat up in my bed and looked around...and to my great horror, I saw the woman in the white dress standing across the room....barely three meters away from me. She even seemed to have a rope around her neck. I turned on the nighttable lamp in a hurry, and turned around.....and the woman was gone. And that's only one of the episodes which has really freaked me out http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

Yes he sometimes play's recordings of bangs and clatters at Luccadia sp? Castle and there might be times when they forget about the recorder.
Once I was listening and he stopped commentary about the place he was at and there was really fast whispering then a sound of a door slamming
Thanks guys http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Just to add a little something to it: my friend and I went up to the house the next day around early afternoon. The entrance door, the (I presume) basement door and ALL the windows on the ground floor were sealed shut, so obviously no one has been able to enter that house for a long time.
A few days later however, someone had broken into the house and left the entrance door open. We(out of stupid curiosity) went in to check it out. We went up the stairs to check if someone could have been in the room where we saw the woman. We checked all possible ways....there was only one possible doorway and it(and the entire wall) there was sealed shut by a concrete wall http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

Okay, I have a real story now. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Not much, but the picture reminded me of it. We discovered the strangest picture in our AP History book the other day. It's a picture commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, and there are a few people lined up in it, but doing nothing really in the picture. It looks like there should be a person on the far left, you can clearly see feet and the beginning of a dress, but it fades out to nothing, and you can see through whatever it is and see the barrels behind it. It must be the ghost of the Civil War! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I can't remember the URL right now, but the BBC has a ghostcam set up in an old house in Cornwall.
My friend used to live in a student hall when we were studying in England. One night we were going out and as we got to the main entrance I got this really strange feeling that someone was watching us. So I turned around and saw that a man was standing in the hallway in Flat 3 upstairs. He stood leaning against the door, his hands pressed against the glass, and stared down at us. I askes my friend who he was, as I presumed it was a student I hadn't met. She turned around too and asked: "Who are you talking about???? There's no one there". I looked back up and saw that she was right. Later we found out that a man had committed suicide in the apartment right next to the door

Well, just in case anybody missed my sorry tale of childhood haunting, it's right here (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=008432). Not as brief as it could be, but as honest an account as possible.
That old house of my grandparents was as haunted a place as any; my teenaged uncle and 2 great-grandmothers all died there, as well as a housekeeper who hanged herself in "the red room" (guess which bedroom I got to stay in whenever I visited - those b*stards), and a servant who died in an attic fire during the 1800s. :(
Happy, Warm, and Safe Place Huh?
I think her shadow wouldn't show from the angle of the light. Look at the placement of the plant and is shadow.

I gotcha, 001. ;) There is a definite romance to living with the ghosts of the past lurking in every corner - as much as Lawn House used to scare the living cr*p out of me sometimes, I loved that old house with more passion than I've felt for most people (they pulled it down the year I left Britain, and my grandfather still hasn't forgiven me for not coming to say my goodbyes to the old place).
I also lived in a 16th century former Inn for about 6 years (on the coast of North Wales). That had an extremely creepy old cellar, and my mother and I both saw a small, shadowy thing a couple of times, up on the second floor (it sort of resembled a Scotty dog). Apparently, after leaving that house, my mum received a phonecall from the new owners, asking about a black dog (their daughter was apparently too scared to go upstairs alone).

My sister's sorority house was haunted. There was this lamp in the living room, that sometimes if you wanted to turn it off, it wouldn't go off even if it was unplugged. Or there would be times where it wouldn't turn on. And then there were the times it would go on by itself even when unplugged.
My sister was cleaning the attic once, and she found this picture of a little boy, some old toys, and a cowboy outfit. The little boy was the son of one of the university founders and he died in the house from polio. And the disturbing picture of the little boy hangs up in the living room, near the lamp. My sister wouldn't tell me about the basement, but I guess strange things go on in there. My cousin was in the same sorority, and she said the same thing about the basement.

I can tell you something that supplied the biggest fright of my life. You won't believe it but it's true!
Years ago a girlfriend and I were playing with a ouija board in my bedroom (it was an overnighter for her). I don't remember what questions we were asking but the pointer became more and more agitated. Suddenly the board flew across the room and when we went over to it, there were scratch or claw marks on the underside of it. I wouldn't pick it up or touch it again and I will never touch another one. Ever.

I wouldn't pick it up or touch it again and I will never touch another one. Ever.Hmm. Those things can be seriously freaky. My man and I made our own last year (we had a lot of time on our hands during his unemployed time). We only used it once, too - we got into a lively conversation with an old lady named "Kay", and I assumed at first that my husband was yanking my chain, until Kay started talking about my stepfather (about whom I seldom talk).
Then after about a half hour of pleasant chatter with Kay, something really eerie happened. First the room got very cold (which isn't so unusual in Chicago, but this was July and the chill came and went very quickly). Then someone called "Michael" started talking, saying that he'd been murdered and that he didn't know how to get home. :(
It could have been my husband messing about, but I seriously, sincerely don't think that it was (he would've had too much fun laughing at me afterwards if it had been him).
Thoses things are bad news and I heartily recomend that ppl stay away from them. Far away.
I stopped believing in Ouija boards when I was at my cousin's house and we played with hers. I jokingly thought to myself that it'd be funny if it told us we were the chosen ones...lo and behold we were the chosen ones. It has something to do with your brainwaves coming out through your fingertips.
I'm just a little skeptical of something that is mass produced and has Park Brothers or whatever the company is on the box...
AnotherLara
15-01-04, 20:36
There's a lot to be said for that theory, Cup - I'd come to similar conclusions about ouija boards and the expression of the subconscious mind. But no amount of sneaky brainwaves can make a room take a sudden and dramatic drop in temperature... nor put claw-marks into the underside of Parker Bros' finest cardboard. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif
The toy companys make them now but they are an ancient divice.

Talk about scary???? My poltergeist has it going on again....and I'm not joking http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif Very often actually, I hear someone knocking at the walls in our house....even when I'm home alone...like now. And it doesn't come from our neighbours house, but from our living room. And since I'm at home alone, and I'm sitting in my bedroom....well.... I'm getting kinda used to it though....it's not the worst sound I've heard around here....and it's around so often I normally just ignore it....as long as it limits itself to the knocking

Yeap, I am. My mom's out for the moment.
It's really not so scary anymore....to me it's getting as normal as hearing the sound of the TV or the music from a radio while doing other stuff.....maybe that's what's so scary about it....the fact that it's something I'm so accustomed to http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

this it so scary
Once you're as accustomed to being a spiritist and getting in touch with spirits on a near said daily basis, it won't get that scary in the end. But my porcelain doll was sure freaking me out after having read these posts last night http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif
It stood on a shelf right next to my bed so I could see its face in the mirror across the room. It almost seemed as if turned more and more towards me everytime I looked at it, so I ended up taking it down from the shelf. Maybe it's just my poltergeist messing around with me

OMG Annacia....that one is really spooky  You're lucky if you have pets, especially cats in this case, not only do they keep you company if you're scared and home alone, but they're also(it is said) the first one to notice it if you have....well......unwanted, spiritual visitors

Nothing really happened, it's the feeling you get just being there. Nothings ever passed the Whaley House's fear level IMO. That is a pretty good site. It says what the guide we had told us.
I remember this website i once saw with all these real life encountered ghost stories... if i only i remember the adress :(
Here is a pic from Em's site. Sorry I can't make it any bigger.

Did you know you can actually "talk" to ghosts and ask them not to bother you anymore? Unless you have a poltergeist or a spectre, that is. Those usually have a more creepy reason for sticking around...
A friend of mine had an encounter that nearly drove her and her boyfriend apart. John (the boyfriend ;) ) had been down at the pub and came home a little more drunk than usual and at the very second he steped through the door she could tell there was something different. Things went on more or less as they always did, up until the following weekend.
Not feeling like going out, they stayed in. They had some drinks. Not that many, but enough to make anyone a bit fuzzy. But, as they drank - nothing happened! Neither of them felt the effects of the alchohol. They didn't think of it that much at first, but when the same thing happened later that same week, when they had a little celebration from being together three years and alot more to drink.
This sort of thing went on, but soon the situation changed. Suddenly John started behaving strangely towards Nicole and she didn't understand why. He was always mean (verbaly) and extremely tense. It got to the point where she thought about leaving him, but then she started getting a feeling of always being watched and she felt as if someone was following her.
Not being the type that scare easily, she ignored it for a while, simply thinking that it was the trouble with John that played with her mind. After a couple of weeks she started to feel a presence in their flat although she was there alone. This progressed into sounds and later some of her more priced possesions being knocked from the places they were in.
One thing led to an other, and finally they called in "an expert". According to this "expert" John had unknowingly met the ghost of a middle-aged woman with a drinking-problem the night he came home from the pub. She had followed the fumes from the alchohol on him and also "consumed" whatever alchohol they drank to "subtle her needs".
After some time she had developed a crush on him, thus making him say things he otherwise never would to Nicole... She had also been responible for the sounds and other activities on her quest of scaring Nicole off. Frankly, the ghost was trying to break them up!!
"The expert" did a "ridding" and after two sessions where John and Nicole proclaimed their love for eachother the ghost decided to give up and leave. Appearantly she was touched by their strong bond, which had been similar to the one she had had with her husband before he died...
