eww.. might have an nvidia inside that thing but yuck!

[edit]
oh btw.. check out it's system specifications closely.

The X-Box 360 CPU is capable of 1TFlop of Processing power, the PS3 is only capable of 213GFlop... That's less than 1/4 the power.

Without the NVIDIA GPU, it wouldn't even come close to the X-Box 360 in power.

Sony yesterday revealed the chip would be clocked at 3.2GHz - matching Xbox 360's PowerPC-based three-core chip - enough to yield 2.18 teraflops, the company claimed - twice what Xbox 360 will be able to pump out, apparently

I would choose the PS3 over an X-Box 360 any day, the Playstation seems to pull in the better titles

What I'm unclear on is the fact that the Xbox360 Spec states it has three cores running at 3.2 GHz each, while the PS3 spec states a 7 core system running at 3.2GHz total. The PS3 has four more vmx vector units than the Xbox360. Also to be noted is that the PS3 has 3.2GBs more memory bandwidth than the Xbox360.

Ok am really confused, is the PS3 more or less powerful? I dont get this technical stuff!

One needs only to look at the games that have been shown so far. Either in-game, pre-rendered, or whatever, the PS3 stuff looks way better than the 360 stuff. Physics, AI, etc., should all follow suit. This is a system that is just going through development and will release 6 months after the 360! Their showing shouldn't be more impressive than Microsofts, but it is.

Ok thanks, I see what you mean, the duck presentation was great, the physics was perfect, and the water was wow! Im a PS3 pro, i reckon.

Here's another tidbit:

Xbox360: 48 billion shader operations per second
PS3: 100 billion shader operations per second

Xbox 360: 9 billion dot product operations per second
PS3: 51 billion dot product operations per second

Those technology demos look phenomenal! Check out this this real-time rendered DEMO (http://streamingmovies.ign.com/ps3/article/614/614935/sonycon_demos_fightnight_wmvlow.wmv) of EA Fight Night on PS3.

Everything looks amazing! I'll choose PS3 even if it's a little slower (or faster) than XB360, cos as always there are a lot more better titles on PS consule than XB. Still ATI Fudo (the next gen videocard) seems to have the same powers as PS3 has. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Just checked out those demos, WOW! If what i read above is correct then PS3 does seem the have the edge, especially since the graphics card is better than two 6800 Ultra linked, but then I am assuming ATi are better? Or is that opinion based?

8290.. the overal processing power of the 360 CPU is 1TFLOP, not the system.

Not sure who's decision it is, but the X-Box team have been questioned about the power of the ATI RV520 VPU. No one has had a straight answer yet.

There is one thing I can tell you, and that's the ATI one IS NOT capable of 48 million shader operations per second. It's closer to 30 million.

From what I've seen and what the Sony presentation has shown is that the NVIDIA GPU is what really carries the systems' power. There is no doubt or mistake at all, that over 70% of the systems processing capabilities are purely down to the ridiculous power of the RSX.

In order for the top-end GeForce 6800 Ultra to perform the same as the RSX you would need 8 Cards connected via SLi.

All of that in a single chip. Every peice of technology NVIDIA has innovated over the past decade really marks the GeForce 7-Series (RSX) as quite frankly a quantum leap in Graphics Processing technology.

And I agree... Killzone was just WOW

:-\ .. I'm still saying to check the values, because on the Microsoft Press Release yesterday they outlined just the processor, not the GPU.
