New plans afoot to abolish Happy Hour in bars and clubs because it encourages binge drinking... aparently. Your thoughts on this?

havent there been reports that people are becoming binge drinkers at a much younger age?

Alchoholic Beverages are cheaper during the hour..2-3 hours in some places.

What about places with $1 you call it? (its not happy hour because it usually lasts all night)

They shouldn't ban it. If people want to drink they should be aloud, you only live once. Well thats my view on it.

Allthough I myself don't drink, I don't see why others shouldn't be allowed...
Then again, the drinking isn't being banned, it's the prize... Hmmm, why not just go to a cheaper place? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Lol :D

Well i reckon they should keep happy hour. I mean you only have so much of your life that you can live it to the full in, because one day your most probaly gonna have kids and a nice family and you wont be able to go out as much. drinking now and again can be loads of fun so long you dont go OTT.

There is always some other way. Drinking is not the right way. Maybe a little for fun! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

There's loads of ways for fun, but alcy is one of them and people including me enjoy to drink. Why take it away from them? I dont agree with binge drinking, that'd just make things worse for whatever reason theyre doing it.

I can't offer an opinion. I'm not into the bar/club scene and I have never been to a happy hour. Ppl have been drinking since Adam let the fruit ferment and I don't think it will stop (or slow down) by getting rid of "Happy Hour". Perhaps make it mandatory that it be helt to 1 hr?

NOOOOO!!!

My world is coming to a crashing halt!!

Just kiddin.' :D Happy hour is usually 5-6 and I work during those hours. Happy hour begins at midnight for me, and let me tell you, it lasts longer then one measly hour.

I usually go out to the local pub about once a week, and it is always happy hour when I am there  I do not drink so much anyways as I am on call most of the time and I am really in no position to be fired :D

I am at bars and clubs more when I work than when I am not working

Here in Norway we don't have Happy Hours, so to me it doesn't really matter.....although I don't see the purpose in taking it away from those who enjoy it. It won't stop people from drinking, so what's the point???

Happy hour was original brough in to drum up trade when the pubs/clubs were quite fo 1 hour , the problem is that these happy hours last far longer than an hour. It also causes people to drink too much in a short amouunt of time, which is when then leads to anti social behaviour, viiolence and the like.

Have you ever been to City centre and seen so called humnas who have had to much to drink. How man police are there dealing with them. Go to an A&E on a friday night, hope is nothing life frightening as it is full of these drunks abusing the Doctors and Nurses, who have better things to do then deal with them.

Youngsters in this country need to be taught about alcohol, and to respect it from an early age. like there do in France.

FYI I do like a drink but I now when I have had enough, usual before I fall over uncousious!

Elen. Happy Hour is a period of time when the prices of drinks are lower than normal. Like a special deal on drinks. Normally lasts for an hour, hence the name Happy Hour (i.e. get Happy (drunk) for less)

I've never heard that before. We don't have it here and I'm glad. Alcohol is not good, especially for the minors. The adults though should be more careful. They end up doing things they regret later.

It doesn't affect me because I don't drink! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I do think it can encourage binge drinking though, especially with students. You only have to see York on a Friday night to realise. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Like I said in my earlier post, I am at the bars more when I work then when I am not, as a paramedic I am called to clean up damage after bar fights, only thing is now I am seeing more females getting roughed up, sometimes by each other :(
