View Full Version : Something a little... ILLEGAL. Muhahahah!!!

So, one of my friends came back from China yesterday morning. Yea, the weather was nice, yadda yadda yadda (apparently it was 100 degrees there). She entered my front door, a little crisp from the other side of the world sun, but non the less looking good, and pulls out a bag that had my very own name on it http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I looked what was inside, cautiously, being careful not to ruin a good supprise, yet forcefully, knowing something good was indeed inside. A blue box caught my eye at the bottom, laying down peacefully in a horizontal fashion. I opened the box slowly but surely, and inside was a real, yet miniature, Tarricada warrior (you know, like the ones in P.F. Chang's resturante and in the Tomb Raider: the Cradle of Life movie when Lara jumps on those statues heads)! But, I felt something else weigh down my hand. I knew it couldnt just be the bag alone, for it was a simple, brown paper bag the size of a CD case... and that was just it. I felt a CD case rattle around lifelessly inside. I reached my hand in and grabbed on to the hard plastic. A surge of white attrackted my eyes, along with read and black writing I was unable to read, but still recognizable to me. I began to immediately shove my face into the whiteness, examining what was to be seen. I noticed buxom, bee-stung plump lips that engaged me very much. As my eyes began to wonder further, I notice a beautiful man whose face I know well. On the opposite end, an equally poised but even more gorgeous woman drapped in black leaning against what seemed to be "her" man. Then, in an instant, it hit me.

"MR. AND MRS SMITH!!!" I screamed that for a few minutes in disbelief. My friend pawned it off the black market in good ol' China... ILLEGALLY. MUHAHAHAHA. Im sure Im not the only one who has this DVD even though it hasnt been released yet, but i wanted to share my excitement and to pose a question for all of the computer people out there:

I noticed it seems to be badly damaged; black marks here and there, fingerprints this way and that way. IT WONT COME OFF!!! I tried playing it in my DVD player, but it wont work!!! Please, does anyone know anything about this? Is there a way I can save myself from a nahsty fahll??? Anyway to safely clean this **** off?!?!?

The only way to safely clean a disk is with a soft cotton cloth. Maybe lens cleaning liquid might work? Depends with what the black marks were done.

Although... well, if you're still in the bootlegging field, why not get the film off torrent? it downloads in a day and it's sure to work.

Big stores usually sell CD cleaners. That'd probably be the best and safest way to clean a CD.

Very literary description of the events, by the way... :D

I once cleaned black marker marks from a cd with alcohol and the cd can run perfectly. Don't know if the same can be done on a DVD, though.

I think the pirates record the movies at the cinema, and use a DVD-making program, with subtitles. It isn't hard actually.

But in any case should be very bad if this is so!

Anyway thanks for the answer! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Well thanks guys. Ive tried cleaning it with a cloth, but the marks are STUCK way on there. Im depressed :( they just wont come off. But I have yet to use a cleaning liquid though...

But I think the way it works is when someone from the actual film destributing buisness mysteriously "lends" out a copy of the movie. Alls it takes really is just that ONE copy of the movie, and its continuously copied from there.

LILY BEITH: what is getting the film off torrent? I dont know if I want the police at my front door, but Im just... curious. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Even I have seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Div-X already, at my sister's. She downloaded it with Emule. Though she hasn't found Portuguese subtitles for it yet, but it's ok, we're both average good with English anyway.
