TR3 - Did a level not make it into the released version of the game?

Everybody - I'd like your opinions on this. There are only 3 levels in the Nevada zone and you complete the final level and pick up the artifact without having to battle a boss. I think that there was supposed to be a 4th Nevada level (witha a boss confrontation), but for technical and/or creative reasons it didn't make it through the development process. It doesn't seem to make sense to me otherwise.

And what kinda boss did you had in mind.
That the aliens came back to life again.
That doesn't make sense because the artifact isn't the core of the ship but everything is possible in a game right... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
