View Full Version : The worst nightmare I've ever had! - The Stretchy Monster!

I had it a few years ago and it was REEEEAAAALLY scary!!! From reading it here I wouldn't worry about being scared by it cos you're just reading it, but if you're an easily scared person (like me who got scared by a Simspons episode once) then please don't read ahead.

It was set at my old mum's house, two houses before the one we have now. In the lounge, there are two sofa's one against one wall, and one againats an adjeacent wall. In the corner that both sofa's face there is the TV. In the opposite corner is the door to the kitchen. I was in the corner standing in front of the closed kitchen door. The sofa to my right had my mum and my step dad sat on it. My mum's half sister and her dad sat on the sofa to my left. But suddenly I heard a squeak. A strange creature was sat on top of the TV, which was turned off. He hadn't seen me. He was like a REALLY furry black monkey with a tail that split into three tails half way. And arms and feet, and was smallish, and had big black eyes, and huge ears. The fur looked a little spikey. Suddenly it jumped up into the air and landed on the arm of the left sofa that was nearest to me. It was looking at my mum's half sister. "Aww, it's cute," she said. Everyone, especially me, was looking at the creature. I was by this point scared. "Just quietly opened the door...don't let it see me" I thought. I opened the door with my hand whilst it was behind me, and stepped backwards through it, my eyes fixed on the creature. I slowly begun to close the door. Just as it was almost closed, I saw the creature really quickly suddenly jerk it's head the side, it's eyes gazing into mine in the most menacing way possible. I was terrified, and I thought this was real life, I didn't know it was a dream. I quickly slammed the door shut, but for some reason it was dark. I was in a tiny cupboard. I stepped back against the wall behind me and heard it banging against the door. Now here was the scary part! It slammed really loud against the wooden door and I saw it, it's face pressed out of the centre of the door. I could somehow see it's face sticking out through the wooden door, making no mark on the door whatsoever. Then it made a horrible zipping stretching noise like nails on a black board as it pulled itself through the door, the spiky fur on it's head pulling back from it's eyes as it glared at me. "Help me!" I cried. Nobody answered, nobody came. Just me and it. It was almost through the door. What to do? Then I realised it. WAKE UP!!! I somehow 'pulled' and tried to wake up but I couldn't. Then it's slimy hand as it grabbed at my shirt and pulled me by my skin on my stomach against the door. The most horrible feeling of all, it felt so real! I jerked so hard I just pulled up with my head and I was awake, still being grabbed by the monster. My head hurt terribly from the incredible force it took to lift my head whilst asleep. I don't know how I did it, but it was as if I was controling my head in my sleep. But I could still feel it grabbed there. I looked down and it was gone. The rest of my night was spent under the quilt, roasting sweating hot, never daring to look out, never daring to look at the TV. It was midnight, and I never went to sleep again for the rest of the night. All I could think about was the creature's eyes.

That is a real dream! Scary, huh?

That was interesting! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif The worst one i ever had i was five and stuck in the Toys R Us from Hell. The stuffed animals were freaky, I had t go to the bathroom, and it was shrinking. I was freaked out so bad I have not gone into a Toys R Us since.

Very odd... and interesting. Do you have a phobia of spiky monkeys? Just kidding... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif o.O Not to brag or anything, but if you think that's scary, you should've seen my nightmares. Or maybe not... even I thought they were scary.

Well a good first step in controlling your dreams is to write them down. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

edit: on 2nd thought I won't share that dream. It's too horrible. :(

Sorry to anyone that caught this post before I edited.

All of my dreams are more weird than they are scary..

Though I do remember once when I was about...eight or nine I had a dream in which this creepy guy was following me around.. I think I was about 16 in the dream..and towards the end he stabbed me in the side. Odd.

Yeah, most of my dreams are strange, but at the moment I hardly ever have any dreams. :( I once had a dream where real life was the simpsons and apparently if you watched to much TV your eyes would eventually see the exact opposite in colour of what is really there. Then one day I watched too much and all the simpsons looked blue forever. Weird.

My scary ones and werid ones at the same time consist of these from when I was little (in all of them I didn't know it was a dream):

In one very short one I was walking along the pavement and I was being chased along the pavement by my mum's ex-ex-boyfriend (who was her boyfriend at the time) whilst he was driving my dads old car!

And another where I was upstairs in my room playing with some toys and suddenly my mum shouted "Jacob your dinner's ready!" and it was morning in the dream but oh well. Then I heard her coming upstairs and when she opened the door it wasn't her it was this old lady with a weird hairstyle and she came up to me and picked me up and put me down in the middle of the room and going, "ooh, yeah! I'm a pag-tag!" *kiss me twice on the head* "Ohh, yeah! I'm a pag-tag!" *kiss kiss* over and over again until I woke up.

By the way Capt. Murphy I'm now really curious about what your dream was lol.

Oh man... I really wish there were such thing as a dreamcorder (something that records dreams http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif like the catchy name?). Then I could show you all the horror that is my subconscious (sometimes).

In total I've had seven to eight dreams that could easily rival any horror movie you've ever seen. The only thing that makes the movies scarier is that they are way longer than my dreams. It's creepy as hell.

Some of them were about murder, suicide, or just people dying. I didn't know any of those people. In one, I died (in a very gruesome way, too).

For an example of my freaky dreams - and this is only a very small part - get this: my brother, who is 20 years old (at the time of the dream, I was about 16 and he was 17) was chasing me around with a very large kitchen knife. He didn't see me, but I knew he was after me.

In his eyes was the scariest most murderous look I have ever seen. It's quite hard to describe. His eyes were just full of evil intent. You'd have to be there to completely understand... part of the reason why it was so unbearably frightening is because I have NEVER (gladly so) seen such a look in his eyes.

For the record, I'd say I have a pretty good relationship with my brother... so at the time (and even now) none of this made any sense. He's never gone after me with a knife, or tried to kill me! It was just WEIRD.

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Hmmm. Have any of you ever looked up some of the symbolism behind your dreams? I occasionally do (when I dream and actually remember anything!), and there are some really interesting coincidences behind them.

Just the other night I was dreaming about putting up Christmas decorations and finding slugs when I went to water our Christmas catus (which was flowering). Apparently the slugs mean I'm proggressing very slowly through life at the moment, the decorations stand for prepartions I'm making for that life, and the white flowers on the catus stand for my desire to earn/achieve my goals no matter what the barriers. Sounds weird? It does when you know that I've suffered fom M.E for the last seven years, am frustrated because I'm impatient to start my next university course (starts in September) and the degree I'm taking will hopefully let me enter Medical School some time is the (I hope) not-too-distant future.

It's amazing what you can find out on the internet :D though I'm not sure if there's anything about spiky monkeys...

Sounds like it's a part of you you'd rather not confront. Dark, threatening figures/creatures commonly portray this.

Anyone ever had a dream that they could've sworn was real?

I fell asleep at my mom's house once, and in the corner of my vision I saw a dark shadow in the shape of a tall man approaching the side of my bed to the right. Just as it was getting really close, I woke up!

In the dream for some reason I thought my boyfriend was there, even though he was halfway across the city o.O I was completely alone upstairs, but I could FEEL someone else present in this dream.

It wasn't like a regular dream where you see people but when you wake up you feel like they weren't really there... even after I woke up the shadow still seemed like a tangible, real thing.

it was sooo creepy

but that still doesn't even begin to approach my other nightmares!

I go into slightlky semi-conscious states sometimes. It's kind of like day-dreaming, only I just stare into space for a bit and whens omeone speaks to me or does something to me I will say or do something very strange. Or I may do something whilst daydreaming (don't worry the things I do then aren't rude lol).

Once at school I was hugging a tree for some reason, and I didn't know people were watching, and then someone came up behind me and pulled me onto the floor by ankles! Do you know how painful and dangerous that is! I was incredibly annoyed later on but did nothing. But what happened was as soon as they pulled me away, I don't know why, but I suddenly shouted "I'm gay!" and it was very embarrasing to be lying on the floor with everyone laughing and pointing and been watching, when you've just been pulled off a tree by your ankles after been hugging it, and after saying "I'm gay". One of the most embarrasing moments of my life!

Another time was in a French lesson where for some reason I begun to carefully, handful by handful, empty the content of my pencil case out onto the desk. Then my friend Tom who sat next to me said, "What are you doing?" and I said "I don't know..." and I was wondering what I was doing and just put it all back lol. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Argh...mine is a recurring dream, had it about three times now. Again...not so much scary as it is pure odd. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/vlol.gif

I was just walking out of my house about to walk down the road when I heard this strange wailing sound coming from one of the lamp-posts. When I looked up this little funny looking devil creature was inside the lamp-post playing with the bulb. I stood looking at it wondering what to do for a minute or so until eventually it smashed the side, jumped out and chased me down the street. After that I just woke up! Reeeally can't explain it. lol  http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

I think it might've been a ghost... I'm not sure. My mom's house is pretty old (40 years?). I could be wrong so don't quote me on that, heh.

I wish I could post some of my scarier dreams... I still can't figure out why I had those. I don't expect to be having any more of them.

They say death is symbolic of change in a dream, but what if it's excessive, and involves people you have never seen before? There's no way I can explain it.

Well, I'm reluctant to describe them because some people here might think I'm a weirdo or a soon-to-be psycho killer. But if anyone with an open mind wants to know, feel free to pm me.

Where do I start? :D Sometimes I am trying to run from something, but my feet feel like they are stuck in mud or clay and I can hardly move them, kind of like I'm drugged. Other times, I am back in school again with only 3 days before a final exam and I haven't even read the text book and I was cutting classes. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif I think another time I was locked out with no clothes on and I had to hide everywhere. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

I have weird dreams like you Mary CF. Some of them are so awful I feel awful for dreaming them. An example is one where a man had kidnapped me and I was sitting in an old bath and he was pointing a sniper rifle at me. Then he shot me in the stomach and it didn't hurt it just stang and I looked down and all my insides were falling out of the hole then I blacked out and woke up ! It was horrid!

I had a bad dream last night cos I had a disturbed night after I woke up and felt a little bug crawling on me, thinking it was a fly I batted it off (it was on my neck) and i heard it plop down onto my bed so I looked and it was a great big fat spider. Well I'm arachnophobic and had a fit and my mum came in and we tried to catch it but it disappeared. But anyway then my mum said I could sleep in her room (that is how arachnophobic I am, she doesn't mind spiders at all really so she stayed in my room I am 20 yaers old by the way lol! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif ) and then I dreamt when I got into her bed that I got into this car in the Co-Op car-park cos some guy had offered me a lift home (!I wouldn't do that in real life!) it was dark and we got in and he locked the doors. There were steering wheels on both front seats too and he told me he would let me out if i bashed my head open on the steering wheel in front of me. So I did it for a bit but couldn't bring myself to hit it hard enough to hurt myself. Anyway then he started driving off and i was bashing on the window trying to get peoples attention but everyone was just waving at me. Then eventually he pulled over and took out a cheese knife and tried to stab me but I fought it off him somehow and stabbed him in the arm. Then I woke up it was really freaky! Just wanted to share those dreams with you. I have lots more but some are just too awful to tell! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think that maybe this means I have a fear of being kidnapped!! Or maybe I just ate too much cheese!!

i hate it wen u really want to wake up but no matter how much you try you still cant, ive always had a fear of pot-dolls and dummies one night i had a nightmare and i was staying at my friends house where she has got a pot-doll...

it must have been on my mind because my nightmare was; i was in a scary old mansion and i woke-up (in my dream) to see a scary pot-doll in a old-fashioned ragg-ed dress, holding a knife. i began to run around but got lost so i hided in the cellar. it was really dark but i locked the door so i was safe...

...or did i...

...i was crept up in the corner and i felt deep breathing in my left ear, by now i really really wanted to wake up - but i just couldnt :(

in the darkness i could just make-out a cold shiny reflective material pointing towards my chest. SUDDENLY a sharp pain thrusted in my ribs...AND THEN I AWOKE

later on at my friends house we were having our dinner and she asked me why i kept shouting "no" and "help me" in my sleep. i explained to her about my dream and she said she used to have a old pot doll that was really mucky and in rags that her grandma gave her. i did'nt know whether to believe her tho cos it would be a really stupid coincidence!

although, who knows...

Some very nice posts here! Not that anything has been too bad but later on people please be careful the dreams you post because I am the type of person to be very easily scared. I never ever watch any horror films and I don't intend to because I would have nightmares.

But once I had a dream where I was at school and I started to be sick like on series 2 of little britain only it was all blood and then it stopped and my friend tom said "You're bright white!" and all my blood had gone but I was still alive. Apparently you never die in a dream, you wake up just as it happens. Or if you are dead you are not dead because you can still see in the dream. If you die in a dream you die in real life because of the shock, so some people say, but I'm not sure I believe that.

Particularly to Mary CF please don't post your scary dreams lol, I will be very frightened because MissnATLA's insides dream made me feel pretty bad lol.

Just as it was almost closed, I saw the creature really quickly suddenly jerk it's head the side, it's eyes gazing into mine in the most menacing way possible.

I have an image in my head of that point ... s-c-a-r-y

Hope you dont have any other meanie dreams Jacob.. (by the way Jacob my mood ring went grey and deep amber while reading that!!)

I have a repeating dream. A few months before christmas time I have a dream that im in a nice village and me, my mom and my sister are sitting in the car and my dad is buying fish and chips. When he comes back I open my food and there is chips and my fish is a spiny christilised looking deep blue fish and my mom says its cool and i HAVTO keep it in my bedroom. We come back and put it on my bedside shelf and in the middle of the night i wakeup and stare at it and its eyes are boring into mine. I go back to sleep and then i wakeup and i find that its killed and splattered my sister all over the walls and it comes after me so i hit it on the head with my book and then all is fine and the dream gets less scary but then we have a funeral in my garden for my sister but its more like a birthday party and my nan is swinging on my sofa swinging thing and then i here thunping noises to find a t-rex comeing into my garden and everyone scatters and we all hide in my house and it goes away. On the night im sleeping in my bed and my curtains are open and i see a massive t-rex head staring at me. Then i wake up!!

Its not a really scary dream, it just leaves me with that frighning feeling when i wakeup. And ive been having this dream 4 years in a row.

my worst nightmare (not scary but downright depressing) --> i am walking down an aisle, the suddenly everything disappears i am in the dark... then i see stars all around me... then i spot this really bright star, and i reach out my hand to grab it, i am so close... but when my hand is close enough to grab it, i start to fall down and down and down... then i wake up.

Lavinder yours was quite scary! For some reason fish and chips sounds cute when you say it lol I can't help it!!! Grrr everything sounds cute even sofa swinging thing! :D

superstar that sounds sad where you almost have something but you never get it. I used to have the falling dream but I haven't had a dream for a while now. I had one once when I was little where I fell down the stairs from the top and on my way down I didn't touch any other stares I just was falling into the wall at the other side but I wake up before I bang into it. :(

i had this VERY weird dream once. it wasn't too scary.
i can't remember the whole thing but i was in this huge room with torches(i think it was the room from the 'wrath of the beast' from aod!!)and i could see a monster crawling towards me from the other end. i wanted to wake up now(still in my dream ) but i couldn't because there was something covering me and blocking me from sitting up in my bed!! i could see my bedroom around me but i just couldn't get 'out' of my dream. then suddenly i started to sink into my bed and fell through it, falling into nothingness!! then i actually woke up.
i think this was THE MOST WEIRD dream i ever had.(hope i made sense...)

kabir, tats really strange...Its intersting how one somehoe knows one is dreaming but cant wake up.
professor Richard Feynman claimed he actually could ocntrol his movements in dreams ( and i believe him because I have been semi-successful in doing so myself). Anyways, he claims that if you lie down and be aware of every single thought process passing through your mind, and pay attention to yourself as if you're observing yourself from the outside, you'll actuall be able to control your movements in your dreams.
I think thats interesting.

MaryCF, dreams last a very long time, i believe. Some say they last as long as the night sometimes. Its just that you really dont remember most of it.

I think the best way to live a dream is if oyu write it down(in case you wake up in the night). I do write mine down in short as best as my sleepy hands would allow.

Jacob x5
07-09-05, 17:41
I hate it when you're lying in bed at night and suddenly you have a brilliant idea and you're afraid that you might forget it in the morning, but you can't get up to write it down, although I have done in the past! :D

Andromeda66
07-09-05, 17:49
Takes some strength to get up and fetch a pen and paper...exactly why I always keep a notepad and pen on my bedside, just in case :D . Maybe you could try that.

But of course, I dont know if anyone else encounters this problem...well...My hands go sorta limp and loose just after I get up and its almost impossible for me to write legibly at that time but I manage and I'm learning.

Jacob x5
07-09-05, 17:56
It's always very dark and I can't see what I'm writing, and it hurts to much that I find that I am writing (oh the shame!) in text slang! When I wake up my handwriting is even more of a messy scrawl than usual. :(
