Am up to Beginning of Level 9-Tomb of Tihocan
So far for me Level 7 Palace Midas was toughest because of the fire pillars. Just could not get thru this- the idea of getting caught on fire and burned to a crisp makes me so nervous, intricate controls- turning Laura around in mid air-anyway , gave up after 2 0r 3 hours, found saved game. will I have to face even worse things in the next 5 levels? What was the hardest thing for you in this game?

Not an easy question this. TR1 is by far the easiest game in the series. Still, if my hand was forced I'd say "Atlantis" (Lvl 14).

This might well make an interesting topic for the other games, too.

Hi Cloudclimber
Yes, you'll find "worse things" but nothing is more difficult than that fire pedestal jump. So, take heart and have fun.

p.s. I couldn't do the fire jump untill I had completed the entire series and was replaying #1 for the 3rd time!

I agree with Scottlee, Atlantis was the hardest TR1 level for me.

Yep, that fire pedastal fire jump. I was stuck there for three or four hours first time through, but what a feeling when I finally made it! It was fantastic!

Funnily enough, the last time I tried it, I managed it first time.

Nice to hear from you one and all- :D :D
Will let you know if I find anything more diff. when I finish game-maybe I'll go back and try the fire pillars again, now that I know some people have actually done it.

I don't see what the big deal with the fire pillars is. You can stand right up close to them on TR1 without setting yourself on fire. The game engine on that score isn't as strict as the one in TRLR, for example.

Yeah I made it over the fire pedestals my first try... I had heard all the hype about it being difficult but it really wasn't for me.

Apart from the fire-pillars thing, which I eventually worked out for myself, I found the boulder trap in Natla's mines quite hard. It also took me quite a while to kill the dude with the magnums. On my first time round, I also found it extremely difficult to do the swimming bit in level 2 (what's it called again?) - you have to swim underwater for quite a while and hit ctrl at just the right moment to open the door in the swimming-pool room, and then go all the way back again. Lara drowned many times.

I'm now on TR2 and there are a lot of human enemies with big guns and very few medi-packs. This is tough.

Ha! You're all wimps!! :D Just kidding!! :D TR is so easy! Even the fire pedestal bit, although it did take me awhile to get it just right the first couple of times! But then, I must have played it about 27 times!!! I think Natla's mines is the toughest level - all that backwards and forwards!! ;)

Hardest level in TR1 for me was the Great Pyramid.

I was stuck in Palace Midas for some time though, because of the awkward jump to enter the second floor/higher tier of the level. Just couldnt find it for ages. The fire pedistal jump was also a pain in the ass for me.

Hmm...I might say Atlantis. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

My pick for most difficult level would be Atlantis too. I hate battling those "SBM".

No question about it...Atlantis.

I hate the SBMs and the scenary is both nightmare and headache-inducing too. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif

Atlantis was by far the toughest. Those fleshy throbbing walls were scary. That whole section of levels gave me an eerie feeling.

I agree with Sarah, Natla's Mines was by far the hardest level! So many items to get, and those mines can be confusing, and the part with detonating the TNT boxes had me stuck for a long time (the only part in TR1 I found to be hard) This was almost exactly 4 years ago when I played the game for the first time. As far as Atlantis goes, the only thing you have to do is go up!!! no way possible to get lost

Now that I have finished TR1 and am now at level 6 of TR2 I have to say that the thugs in TR2 make the ones in TR1 look like wimps! Have to keep reloding and playing the battles over again to avoid using too many health paks.

St Francis' Folly is my particular boogy level. That and The Cistern. I keep getting lost in there :(

Ahhh, such great memories of St. Francis' Folly! Yea, its a bit confusing but one of the best levels! and same for Cistern, truly wonderful creative levels. I wish AOD will be as good as TR1, then it would be something truly worth waiting for

Atlantis has to be the worst them mutant things are so annoying. The giant mutant in Great Pyramid is easier to kill than them things. The real question is whats the most annoying level? And in answer to that any with Pierre in. I hate that guy how can someone with 50 rounds of bullets in their chest stay alive. One time i found him in the Cistern UNDERWATER shooting at me. Amagine my horror when he appered in Chroniles! thank god he went down that hole :D
