Skype is a wonderful bit of software. It's free to download and allows people to talk for as long as they want online. It's a little like making a phone call.

Right now I'm talking to deepbluesea while trying to post in the 8 word story game. It's sooooo cool! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif Has anyone else here heard or makes use of this software?

I've heard about it. But I really have no use for it. It would be overkill for me.

Besides, don't you need high speed internet to have to use it? If someone already used 'dial-up' to get on-line then they used 'Skype' to make all their calls... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif I suppose if you had to make an international long distance call, and still used dial-up, yeah, it'd be good for that.

One thing I have heard about these types of internet phone sevices is since you can call not only to any place in the world - but when you are any 'other' place in the world and you have to call an emergency number (9-1-1) you would get the 9-1-1 center in your city/town instead of it being re-routed to the actual nearest location of you - the person making the call.

I think there was an incident like this. But since then a resolution may have been reached. I'm not sure.

It's being able to talk for free to people anywhere (you can even call ordinary phones or mobile numbers - though you are charded for that) that I like. Right now, I'm also using MSM messenger at the same time, so I can talk and see the person http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif .
