Well I first got Tomb Raider 3 when that came out (what year was that?) but my Dad thought it was too violent for me and returned it :( Well after many years I finally got it back! At least I actually pass some of the ratings... lol (15) It was the spikes that did it, in the first level I fell in the spike pit going down the hill and he saw her dying and got worried about it. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/vlol.gif

Date: October/November 1999, sometime in the afternoon.
Scene: Sat watching TV, the adverts come on.

Tomb Raider IV, Last Revalation hits the screen. Swinging from ropes, shooting bad guys, exploring dark, murky tombs.

Mum: "That looks like fun."
Me, looking up from magazine: "You sure?" (at that point fed up with Lara Croft and the hype - she's a male-teenager, sex-toy booby, so what?)

Date: December 24th 1999, 8.02pm
Scene: Busy shopping centre

Dad: "What can we get Mum as a spoof? Do you think she'll like Tomb Raider?"
Me: (shrugs shoulders) "Why not?" (tries not to burst out laughing)

Date: Late December 1999, 9.38pm
Scene: Our computer room

Me: "YES! I GRABBED THE ROPE!!!!!" (punches air with joy, forgets previous views about said Tomb Raider. This is actually a pretty darned good game).

I was working at a commerical cabinet shop in 1996. A friend who had a Playstation came in and told me about the game. I had bought the PS for Resident Evil, and wasn't terribly interested in it at first. I think I rented it before I purchased it. I ended up buying his PS after I fried mine with the RE games. From that first game I was completely hooked. I still remember the wonder and excitement as I turned each corner. And jumped out of my skin when the wolves attacked! I own all the games on PS/ PS2 and all except TR1 for PC.

Playing TR2 at my freinds house as a little kid.

They always got me to do those underwater disc-traps on the first level 'cause I could do it without loosing any health.

It was on the playstation though so I couldn't do anything else...

I started playing the series properly in about 99/2000.

I started playing Tomb Raider when I was about eight years old back in 1998...Tomb Raider 2 was the first game I played. I remember everytime I tried to play it I would get scared by the tigers in the beginning so for a long time all I played was the training level...Lara's mansion. Ah, the good old days.

wow, i remember that day clearly!

When i was on Work Experience from school in 4th year (so prolly 1998), doing accounting for a mates mum at their house. I had an hour lunchbreak so there i was sitting in front of the computer munching on my sarnie and i spied Tomb Raider II in my mates game collection. I hunted the disc out (wasnt in the box - gar!) as my friend in english class had been playing it and updating me daily on walking into dark valleys and having dinosaurs running at him (The great wall - Gold Secret) and such, so i was kinda intrested in having a shot.

I didnt know any of the keys and for an hour i just winged it (yes the tigers at the beggining of level one got the better of me several times).

A couple of weeks later when my friend had completed it, i got a borrow and the rest, as they say, is history!

Good Thread btw!

I actually started playing Tomb Raider 2 on the PC, from their i got hooked. I bought the 1st one and everyone since then for PC. I honestly have to say it was a complete joy till Chronicles and AOD, those just didn't hit home for me. Legend will hopefully be the resurection.
