Okay, it's time to get TR 1 up and running but I need help. The game is loaded and runs fine but without sound.

I have XP home edition and a Nvidia Gforce 2 card. In the setup for Tomb Raider there are a list of choices for soundcards but I suspect none of them will work for me. When I try any of them the screen freezes and I have to switch the computer off at the wall.

I've downloaded the XP patches and copied them into the Tombraid folder. I've downloaded Glidos and tried to use it but get the error message "wrong version of tomb.exe" when I try to run it.

Where do I go from here?

George. You also need to download the tomb.exe which can be found HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/glidos/download.html) and then collect VDM Sound which can be downloaded HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp.html)

Pity you don't have a zimmer too Lara's girlie, I think we could have been good together wandering around with our zimmers.

Cheers tlr, I'm on it and I'll report straight back.

Thanks
George

Thanks tlr. I downloaded the files and tried out the game. It looked good, but I only had half the sound, ie music and no effects. Had a quick look at the VDM sound programme, installed Soundblaster using Tomb Raider setup and put in the values Port 220, IRQ 7 and DMA 1. Tried glidos again and to be honest, I think the original Tomb Raider has never looked or sounded so good!

I think I'll go through the entire adventure again!

Thanks, this is the best TR site in the universe!

George. Glad it worked. Enjoy the game!

Still no effects? That should work if you have VDMSound installed. The setting you want for VDMSound is "Sound Balster 16/AWE", but the other
sound blaster settings should work.

I've just uploaded an installation whizard to the Glidos site. That might help: it sets up the sound for you, and downloads the right Tomb.exe for you.

Gosh, such esteemed company! Hi Paul, I've got the original Tomb Raider working perfectly! Thanks for Glidos eh. While you're here, where do I find the Tombub.exe file as I couldn't find it? Might as well set up Unfinished Business while I'm at it.

I'll just go have a peek at your web site in case it's there!

GeorgeM,

You can find Glide verison of TombUb.exe file on Tomb Raider Gold CD. There is a directory called 3dpatches, and inside that directory, there is a subdirectory called 3dfx. Take TombUB.exe from 3dfx directory and replace the original file. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
