10 Billion Trillion Carat Diamond Discovered
Scientists have discovered a massive diamond with a weight of 10 billion trillion carats - the only problem is, it's 50 light years from earth, within a burned-out star named BPM 37093.
The white dwarf, a burnt out star whose rock has crystallised, was found by Travis Metcalfe and a team of American researchers. He said "You would need a jewellerís loupe [magnifying glass] the size of the sun to grade this diamond."
The author of the paper which is announcing the find said "The hunt for the crystal core of this white dwarf has been going on for decades but obtaining direct evidence only became possible recently."

Just wondering, is there such a thing as "billion trillion"? Starting at the lowest I thought it went million, billion, trillion, etc...

I think we call it "billion trillion" because we don't have a proper name for it (because our organic human brains are too small to comprehend such big numbers http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif )

A Google is 100 zeros...

But a billion trillion is only 21... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
