View Full Version : The House of Flying Daggers
I've just bought the double DVD of The House of Flying Daggers. Directed by Zhang Yimou, who also directed Raise the Red Lantern, The House of Flying Daggers is a beautifully shot film with stunning scenery, fight scenes that are pure artistry, and a story that will break your heart for it's shocking twist. Has anyone else here seen it?
Isn't Zhang Ziyi amazing? So much talent for such a young actress. I especially loved the scene with the drum beats.
I suggest you watch "Hero." The cinematogrophy is excellent, surpassing that of "House of Flying Daggers."

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I saw it... I was facinated with that kind of movies since "crowching tiger and hiden dragon" (if i writing well). This movie it's so beautifull, even more then Hero. I envy you Neteru for the dvd http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Oh Neteru! if you are interested, here is a page with pic of the movie (maybe you know the page allready, but it very cool).
Yeah Olvid, the Echo game is a great scene, and the Peony pavilion is beautiful. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif 'Hero' is on my list too.
So you buy DVDs at 2.39 in the morning?:D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Of course not. I'd bought it the day before, watched it, and then just watched the bonus material. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-2.gif
Thanks amlai. So many pictures there! I have CTHD too.
I have also watched HOFD and it's great! Also I loved the drum scene aswell. And I recommend Hero. ver, very good aswell and also Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Have you noticed, they all have the same chinese theme?
I have seen it too, no doubt it's a good movie. Fight scenes were excellent, story and performance great. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I knew it even in the beginning that she wasn't blind :D
Yes, Apofiss. I also knew that she wasn't blind it just was too obvious. There was something wrong and I realised that she wasn't blind.

I've 'just' watched it  . Very beautiful photography and artistic flair. My only nitpick was, at the end, a sort of unfinished feeling. Apart from that, great! Thought the colour palette(s) and scenery were gorgeous (though there must be a name for being overwhelmed in green bamboo!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif )

I havn't seen this film yet, i want to though http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
But i have seen Hero, that Olvidarse mentioned. The fighting scenes are very good. I like Jet Li :D

Here are some more choice screenies.
Cool pics! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I would reccomend Hero to everyone. It just has everything - action, adventure, special effects, fighting scenes, romance etc. It's one of the best movies made.
Looks wonderful Olvid. I nearly bought it yesterday, in a special offer. Unfortunately, I couldn't find another two DVD's I wanted (yeah, I'm not paying full price :D ). So I'll wait.
I can see by the pics that I'm gonna love it. Thanks for those. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
