i read that on The Inq' today.
back in spring it was rumored that i would have 32 or even 48. now they say it will barly have the same speed as GeForce 7800GTX!!!

I think that was quite predictable... considering that GF7800GTX actually is the same as GF6800GT or Ultra, only 8 more pipelines unblocked (except the cheap version of GF7800GTX which has 20 pipelines, so only 4 more pipelines) > I think that Fudo XT (that is R580) versions still will have 32 or even 48 pipelines.

Hey nomedo, 16 is not that bad. ;) It is twice the amount on my 9700 Pro which isn't totally outdated yet. I can play all directx9 games @ 1024 x 768, highest settings very smoothly. @ 1280 x 1024 pretty smoothly also. Problems start at 1600 x 1200. Too bad, because that's my 21" monitor's resolution.
I won't buy a new card (aiming at 7800GTX http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif ) for this pc: my PC's chipset (i845), CPU's busspeed (533Mhz) and relatively slow Ram (PC2700, though 1024 MB of it) are the bottleneck here. When i upgrade, it will be a new pc. By the time i can afford, the best cards will be less expensive.

Because THAT is the only thing worth complaining about: these awesome delivering cards are much too expensive!!! Now my local shop offers nVidia 7800 GT at 399,- while the better 7800GTX stays at 549! 150,- difference! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif

At the moment it is only the small crowd of enthusiasts who have to (and will) pay the high price. But there are much too many cheap non valuable (for performance) cards on the market. They should skip all cheap cards and cut the price for the best ones in half so almost everybody could afford them. :(

BTW GF7800GTX has some little problems with high AA/AF... click HERE (http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/229/20/) (the lower chart) and HERE (http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/229/17/) (the lower chart).

but apofiss thats compared with 0AA/AF for the other cards...

well i know that 16pipelines are enough. especially when it will run at 600-700mhz.
but i still got kinda chocked when i saw that they went down to 16pipelines. its the third version they made and they started out with 32piplines i belive. and back in june when nVidia released G70 (GF7800GTX),the rumors said that ATI maybe had to get down to 24 pipleines too because of the yelds.
but even 16, that was out of the cuestion for me...

and if nVidia now have a "ultra" version of G70, that will mean serious trouble for ATI...
