Dream ride 4 me = either

Ford XY GTO Bathurst Edition, such a classic

OR

New 2003 Ford GT with that Boss 290 engine, nothing can beat a Boss with 290 kw of RAW power

im also a big fan of the dodge viper, and saw (Discovery channel) one that they had modified to 850 hp, oh yeah!! it was sooo sweeet!!!

oh, those not australian probably dont know these models (except the dodge) so you'll just have to take my word for it, theyre fantastic, more info on the Fords go here (http://www.ford.com.au) and go to the GT.

Viper kicked Falcon feathers in the quarter mile...

Oh and Fords blow chunks...period...

Duffman
20-12-02, 10:13
yeah, that demonstration rox!!!!

lets not go into the FORD v whatever debate okay, its just useless to continue cause we cant change each others minds about it, its just in our DNA i guess. :(

if i get a job that pays BETTER then good (or win tattslotto), ill definately import a viper to oz and modify it nicely. trying to keep it legal, but, well ill just c about that (*LOL*)

The F16 is the main Multi-role combat aircraft used by the US, Isreali, and occasionally Saudi Air Forces

My personal Favorite is the F16c which has terrain following radar so you can really fly hugging the ground...about 50 ft (14 metres) above it in fact...

And about the Fords, I dont like them, Duffman does, and that is that...but the BOSS 302 was pretty cool and so is the '65 Cobra...

well lee32uk, thats all nice, i have that pic too, but its a concept car and not real. whats your REAL dream car, one that you could buy or import. im not saying that this topic is of real dream cars, but those are just druewler cars.

ferraries are nice, but in aus the power ratio of most of them are illegal so we dont see them on the roads that much.

i prefer the Lamborghini to ferrari. did anyone see that one on that show with the viper? it was hot orange and soo sweet. it also has awsome power of the start.

and Draco, Ford and Holdens are the main contendors over here so most pick either of them. the new BOSS 290 is just like the BOSS 302, both awsome, no one could dispute either of them. as for dingochick i think shes a more fantastic plastic person (which is fine, okay) with turbo, pffftttt, turbo, ooooooo im scared. (dont take it the wrong way dingochick, just laughing at turbos)

as for Smilyez, i hate those things because the cause a lot of accidents and are dangerous, only when people use them for city use, and you ask them, 'when was the last time you went 4x4?', they reply, 'oh no, couldnt do that, i might get dirty.' but if you like it then its kool im sure. as long as you use it to pound the rox and water.

(and to clarify, i dont want anyone thinking im "having a go" at them, because im not, just adding my thoughts. EVERYONE HERE IS KOOL TO ME AND I WISH EVERYONE A SAFE AND HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/xmas3.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/xmas3.gif

I will likely have to import the parts for me Cuda as well...

Duffman, i respect ur opinion, but how is an escalade any more dangerous than a Ferrarri or any other fast car? If i can recal, in most accidents, speed is a rather large factor.

not having a go at you or anything. just stating wat goes on in the wonderful world of oz.

these sorts of cars are supposed to be used in a rough terrain environment, right? when people use them in a suburbian areas we have found that because they are not supposed to be used on 'road' terrain the people who use them do not know how to drive them properly.

From the suspension setup to the tyre diameter, they are supposed to be used on the dirt and when used on the road are dangerous. studies have found that a great number of accidents involve these sorts of vehicles, both major injuries and deaths, thats why i dont like them when they are used on roads, but when used on dirt terrian, mate ill join u for the ride.

i believe that speed doesnt kill, the person behind the wheel is to blame. this is probably because i have grown up around drag cars and racing drivers so it might be a biased opinion, but if you can control a car at 120 clicks or 20 clicks then thats fine, but if u cant then u are to blame. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/xmas3.gif

everyone who is to drive this chrissy, please drive safely and NEVER drink and drive... and take regular naps when driving long distances... its chrsitmas people, be safe and enjoy the holidays http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/xmas3.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/xmas3.gif

SUV drivers, in general, get the 'Im invincible' thinking in their head. The vehicle is designed to make you feel unstoppable. But you are stoppable and all it takes is seconds. Whether its excess speed or just bad luck, SUVs have a high propensity to rollover. I would rather drive the Ferrari...

But thats just me and my opinion...I also think most SUVs are too ugly to be seen in public...hehe

the person behind the wheel is to blame. I guess this can apply to all vehicles, cars, and Suvs alike. They both have their dangerous sides, but really it all comes down to the cautiousness and awareness of the driver.

as for dingochick, i think she went on a bender and is a bit lost...

anyway, i luv speed and always will, so will defend speed with bad driving. whether, as you said, its any type of vehicle, i was just saying that speed doesnt kill, bad/irresponsible driving does.

Yea i understand what your sayin, like if someone was to shoot someone else, it wasnt the bullets fault, it was the person behind the gun. Same goes for cars, no matter what size or speed, it all comes down to the driver and wether they were doing what they were supose to be doing.

dingochik
27-12-02, 00:17
Smylez its the bullet's fault that it's made to kill people. If it were water in the gun then no one would get killed. Unless they slipped on the water and fell on their head. I was saying that duffman likes fords...eww. My car's a ford...that why I hate it. :D

dingochik

look i c your point dingochick, and concur that these sorts of things happen but im talking about when people die because they are speeding... its not the speed that kills them, its them driving like that.. true if they slow down IT IS LESS LIKELY they will die but there are crashes where people have died at 20 k's because of their driving, not their speed. because of car body roll, one crash i heard/read about they were being stupid and pulling the car from side to side (stearing left to right quickly) at 20 k's and then it flipped because of the body roll and they weren't wearing a seatbelt so their actions killed them. just one incident but there are many like this.

i understand about animals but im talking about when peope die, say because they hit a barrier or another car.

(so if u had a holden or toyota or something u would hate that car because U have it? is this dingochick logic or something?)

max_payne_99
27-12-02, 04:30
Alright. I'm tired of people ripping on Fords. What makes them so much worse than everything else? Not a thing that's what. As we all well know, the automobile world would not be what it is today with out Ford. I think that if Ford is good enough for the likes of Carroll Shelby then it is good enough for me. The people behind the 007 James Bond franchise know a good thing when they see it. So do the people behind the Tomb Raider film for that matter.

So I think that instead of ripping of Ford, we should all be thanking them for all of the wonderful vehicles that we enjoy today, even if they aren't the ones behind it.

Draco
27-12-02, 04:58
Hey I give Ford credit for one thing, and that is the shove they gave the auto industry in the early years of automobiles...

But now, the company is run by people who I wouldnt trust with anything, much less my life or anyone else's...how many of you know the whole story on the Firestone ordeal? I bet you didnt know that Ford told Firestone to cover it up so that sales would not drop off...I also bet you didnt know that Ford has the most recalls of any single automaker in the entire world, even the larger and much more chaotically run General Motors has a better record...

I dont trust any vehicle built by a company more willing to let people die from tire blowouts then take a hit in profits...

I also think the design of most Fords is bland, boring, and hardly innovative...

It is possible that the actual vehicle is alright, but the company is for certain substandard, I would never run any business that way...

Okay Im done now...

-Dingochik's fuzzy tiger

Duffman
27-12-02, 06:22
my turn...

you dont think the other companies cover things up???

you'd have to be naive to think that. Holden/GM have covered up tests that prove cars unsafe points, and lots of other companies for that matter. so dont go pointing the finger at one company when its not just that company that covers things up...

I like FORD cause of their cars, cars that i have found from experience are good, safe, good looking and have power to match. its my opinion, and i know that, but when u go bagging Ford because of something that about 50% of companies around the world do, thats not right.

Draco
27-12-02, 07:30
Hey man, Im not bagging on Fords, I think they are alright. Im not much for GM either.

But my views arent based on the cars entirely, I personally prefer Daimler/Chrysler...

But I do think Ford is being run by money hungry fools, and I do not mean the engineers or designers, I mean the executives.

It is unfortunate that corporations are moving to this trend, but it will happen anyway...money and greed outvalue morals and honor...

-Dingochik's fuzzy tiger

28-12-02, 00:58
Ok, I'm going to state an opinion here......I don't mean to offend anyone or don't want to pick a fight, I just want to throw in my 2 cents, but it is just my opinion based on my experience and what I've seen. Now that I have my disclaimer out of the way....... ;)

I totally agree that drivers should be held responsible for being safe on the road, but I can't 100% agree with speed not being a factor. Speed may not always be the villan, but in certain weather conditions it would be wise to go slow.

On the first snowfall here, there were 13 accidents before 8:00am during the morning commute to work—because people were going too fast for conditions (and year after year we get a lot of accidents due to the first snow). Not long ago there was a HUGE pile-up because, here again, people were going too fast in the fog.

Speed is somewhat a factor—you can't have some cars going the speed limit, some cars going 10-20+mph over the limit, some cars going the 10-20 mph slower because they're just merging on the highway (or for other reasons causing them to go slower) without sooner or later having an accident. Today a semi rear-ended a car—and I can't tell you how many cars I've seen in ditches and how many near misses there are due to tailgating and getting cut off because a car needed to exit but heaven forbid they reduce their speed a bit and file in behind another car—always need to be in front.

Not to say speed is solely to blame. The drivers are the ones in control of their own car. As I commute back and forth to work, I'm hoping that others will be alert and use their common sense and courtesy, but I'm not going to rely on them (and can't wait til I have enough money saved to move closer to where I work). Defensive driving is a must.

People who do race cars or are thouroughly trained drivers do know how to handle their cars at high speeds, but that doesn't mean everyone can. People panic, get distracted and rattled. A lot of accidents could have been prevented if all drivers paid attention (get off the blasted phone!), were aware of who's around them, kept their tempers in check, and perhaps slowed down a bit—what's the hurry anyway? A coworker timed a 70 mile trip. He went the speed limit while someone else went 20 mph faster—ended up the person going faster beat him by a couple of minutes, is it worth it?

Anyway, I guess it boils down to driving is a big responsibility which should be handled seriously. A car can do a lot of damage.

Ok, there's my opinion. (Oh, and I don't think I want to touch the Ford issue, though my folks have always had very good experiences with them, so I wouldn't shy away from buying them. Own a Mercury myself. But that again depends on everyone's experience with certain brands, if you got stuck with a lemon you wouldn't be likely to by the same make.)

I'm done rambling now, I promise. Sorry about the speech!

Draco, I did think about that. I dont know much about car insurance, but I do know enough to know that insurance for an eclipse would be higher, it being a sports car(even higher if its red). My second alternative I was thinkin of gettin ws a 99-00 Jeep Cherokee Loredo. Isnt the insurance rates on SUVs lower than sports cars? I hope so.

SUVs and Sports Cars...meaning two doors are always the highest in insurance...and being red or black doesnt help either...

It really depends on how bad you want the car, I planned on getting a sports car, but then I did the math...Im driving a 1968 Lincoln Continental, blacked out..I know hehe..it looks like a ganster car...and it has suicide doors...Shveet!!

But yeah, if you want it that bad then go fer it...but you should find out what it will take to keep it...and plan on tickets, they happen whether you drive good or not...

Yea, im thinkin i might just go for the Suv. I would like to have an eclipse, but its sad that insurance is higher than car payments  . I've always liked cherokees anyway. And I would like to have either midnight blue or a charcoal grey(do these colors have any affect?).

.....

Lol, I have to ask, what does 'Shveet' mean? :D

Draco

Shveet! is simply a butchered Sweet! and another word which I am sure would be filtered... ;)

Don't get a Jeep, if you do get a SUV get something Japanese, they maintain thier value much better as well as staying almost maintenence free. If you get an eclipse get a 2nd generation ('94-'98) GSX or Eagle Talon TSI AWD (same as eclipse). They are much faster and are turbo and all wheel drive, and I think they are better looking also.

Turbo isnt worth the metal it was cast from...

My parents are paying for most of it, and im addin on to it. Im not getting a brand new one, but a 00 one, which looks almost exactly the same.

And, no, I think the new eclipses look alot better than the older ones. I'm not really all that krazy about speed, so ill go with the one that looks best.

I want to make a point that the new pontiac GTO looks like the Aussie Monaro...if no one has noticed. Is there a copyright law on this?

Here's how it goes:
American cars are the cheapest new and used and parts
Japanese cars are the most reliable
German cars have the most technology
Sweedish cars are the safest
Italian cars usually the fastest
British cars... they're just cool
