No. Cheat codes just plain take the fun out of games. What's teh challenge in playing a game ment to be that of comlicated puzzles when you can just cheat your way past them.

I'm being honest. The game is its most fun without cheats. Though once I finish the game I like to use them to see if I miss anything or just go on a killing rampage. Using cheats the first time you play takes the fun out but using them after is great in my opinion. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Using them after is okay, so I guess if they do put them in, I'll only use them once I have finished the game. I try not to use them the first time around. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Nah, the inclusion of cheats in general just ruins the original feel of the game. That is why top rated games like Grand Turismo, or Halo 1 and 2 never had cheats.

Well you can choose to either ruin the feel or not. It's not like they're manditory. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

cheats aren't fun when you're playing for the first time, because they kind of become mental crutches, so everytime Lara finds herself in a place requiring brainwork, you don't give her a chance. Once you've finished the game, cheats can be used to jump to your favourite level so that you can play that only and odn't have to pass through all the previous levels which is just a waste sometimes. I guess thats why they had cheats in the first place http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

Cheat users will be washed out thoroughly for being dirty enough to use cheats http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif LOL!

Walkthroughs and strategy guides for when your stuck are a godsend. But plain cheating your way through levels is just bonkers. Why bother buying a game hoping for a challenge when you use cheat codes? It completely defeats the object of buying a game at all IMHO.

So there. :D

Some game experiences are positively enhanced by 'cheating'.

Most of us here don't cheat first time through but some games have much, much more replay value if you tweak them a little bit.

Halo and other FPS don't often fall into this catagory but games like SE2 or Hidden and dangerous 2 can be enhanced.

Its nice to start a new game an equip you squad of men with the same uniforms/equipment with out having to worry about daft limits imposed by the game.

I don't think legend is the kind of game that would benefit from cheats though. I'm always happy with the twin pistols...

I think cheats are fine if using them for the right reasons. Using them to progress in the game without having mastered it yourself is a copout in my view. But there are occasions when you may, for example, want to take a particular screenshot. Cheating to jump to a specific level, in that circumstance, is fine. As would be cheating to get a particular weapon to facilitate your getting there and/or to kill a particular enemy that would get in the way when you wouldn't normally have the weapon to kill it.

I wouldn't use cheats.

I think that some of the cheats are really interesting because they let you see some details about how the game is made.

I never use cheats when seriously playing because they take the fun away, but I do use certain cheats (like the corner trick) while playing random levels of the games in order to explore areas that are normally unreachable; this way you can discover some unexpected shortcuts and work out facts about the architecture of the levels.

But other cheats, like the All Weapons one, I don't like doing them at all.

of course the first time I play I finish the game with no cheats, like TR5 that I got on Saturday! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif but only when I finhis I explore the scretes with cheats.

For the first time I wouldn't use cheats, but the second time, I'd use em. If there are no cheats in Legend then there should be easter eggs instead. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

for me, Tomb Raider isnt about how fast you can complete the game, not about how little ammo u shot. and not about how few medpacks u used. for me Tomb Raider is about adventure. slowly walking across a floor in an ancient temple and knowing somethings gonna happen, but without knowing where and when.
and that doesnt change if u cheat. no matter how much how many guns i have in the backpack, i never feel secure entering a new room.
i must say that cheats are the reason im a Tomb Raider fan. without cheats and walkthroughs i would have lost intrest in Lara Croft and her raiding a long time ago.
for me, thats the hole meaning with tomb raider. that u just cant find that button uve been lookin for for hours, or the boss that kills u every single time. i would never been able to play past the big giant head in chronicles without unlimided medpacks, i would never have have got past the last levels in AoD if i didnt read walkthroughs. and i would never had played TR3 with my friend for weeks before we completed it, if it wasnt for cheats.
In Legend u can be sure i will have a "all ammo, all guns-belt" on, and the backpack stuffed with choclate bars. and if it will have 10 hours of gameplay, you can be sure too that i will spend 40-50 hours. for me its only good that u have to ask people and and even cheat before u finaly figure out how to do things.
without that, i would never have visited this forum either.

and thats what i hope legend will be like too. endless threads about how u open a door or kill that boss. not threads that say "i compleated Legend in 2 hours without weapons. now what?? *waitin for tr8*..."
if a person use cheats, u can be sure they have tried to push every inch of the walls, tried to jump over that 20 feet gap a million times or been killed by that boss in every way possible, before they enter the cheat codes.

and u know what, i think that person got a greater tomb raider experience.

I didn't read all the posts so apologies if I'm repeating anyone.

Cheat codes are fine IMO. The choice is yours whether you want to use them. The first time I play a game I don't use them. I particularly want level skips "cheats" though. Why? Because sometimes my PC has gotten a sudden problem and have been unable to resart it without reinstalling eveything. And when that happes everything on the hard disk gets erased. So it means that if I want to replay a particular level of Tomb Raider I need to work my way through all the levels beforehand! With level skip however is much faster to reach the parts I want.

In fact I don't consider level skips a "cheat" at all. It's more of a workload reducer.

Considering Tomb Raider is played by youself I'm not sure if "cheating" is the right term to apply to cheat codes. If Tomb Raider was competitive with other players, then yes, "cheat codes" would be bad things to use.

Nor will I use a walkthrough. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif
