Well I'm up to book 6 - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - and about a third of the way through. What a ****ing awesome book! A few years ago I saw the Philosophers Stone movie, and thought it was pants. A few months ago, I decided (having nothing else to read to hand) to start on the Harry Potter boxset I was bought for Christmas. Books 1-4.

WOW!!!! Now I'm hooked on Harry Potter. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

Well I'm the opposite tlr. I don't want to read the books because they spoil the movies for me. Also I'm not really into reading books/novels. I always find it more of a chore than an enjoyable experience.

I'm just a child of the movie age I guess http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Glad you enjoyed it, tlr! I'm a crazed Harry Potter fan as well, can't get enough of it. I'm still working on finishing the Half Blood Prince. The whole series is amazing, as are the movies! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I read up to book 5 then lost interest, I just got so ****ed off at how the charchter delt with the 'issues' they were faced with.

"So Harry I'm supposedly the most powerful magician on the side of the 'good guys' is there anything you want to tell me?"

"No sir. I'd rather keep my 'end of the world/life threatening' problems to myself in the vain hope that everything will work out OK in the end. I'm sure my two equally incompetent friends share this bury-our-heads-in-the-sand approach. If however something does happen, then we will use our pathetic ability to make object float to delay the enemy while Ron screams and Her-man-ony debates the correct applicationg of jibber root to powedered gitter."

"I see Harry. You know I'm meant to be supportive but I have to say, the chance of you surviving to the end of the series looks about as likely as Hagrid winning Miss-Hogwarts 2085"

"Yep, were screwed"

I realise that I may have gotten carried away but better I get it out of my system now...

Well in fairness, crux2, I'd probably be feeling exactly the same in Harry's position  http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif . Not many teenagers have eerie prophecies made at their birth about them growing up the arch enemy of the most evil wizard that ever lived. It's bound to get him down from time to time.

I'm really impressed by Harry Potter. Not only are they great books, but they have introduced a whole generation to reading. JK Rowling takes me back to my own fond memories of Roald Dahl. Ah, happy days.... :D

And yes, I can't wait for GoF either http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

I like the Potter books. I borrowed 1-4 from a friend not so long back and got through them very quickly. A couple of years after that I borrowed the 5th one from my brother and enjoyed that too. I haven't touched the 6th.

I keep meaning to buy all the books myself and start from the beginning again.

I was so jealous of JK Rowling's sucess I never got to read the books. I know, it's not a very good sentiment.

I don't actually think Dumbldore's dead, I think Dumbledore and Snape have switched places for like the entire year so Dumbledore could spy on the Death Eaters and stuff

That was a complete load of **** but if it turns out to be true remember who said it first LOL:p
