As of today, 2/3 of an enclosed liquor licenced premises in QLD needs to be designated non-smoking. I am so excited about this, finally I can come home and possibly NOT smell like a giant cigarette after going out.

http://www.health.qld.gov.au/atods/tobaccolaws/timeline.asp - as of July next year there will be NO SMOKING inside an enclosed liquor licenced premises. This is the day I have been waiting for.

Hope everyone else is having a great day like me!

Since 29th March 2004, smoking was banned in all workplaces in the Irish Republic.

I don't smoke so I like this rules :D

But the smokers will complain about this...and why??? Because they can't stop something they are addicted on.

Smokers: We have the right to smoke if we want to.

Non-smokers: And we have the right not to breathe other people's smoke when we go out.

I'm a non-smoker. Always have been, always will be. Thank God the UK is looking into similar rules as the Irish Republic http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif .

i believe most bars, buildings, clubs and some restaraunts in boston are all non smoking now. thank god. i cant stand the smell of cigarette smoke. i try to breath as little as possible when someone is smoking around me. it disgusts me. i almost didn't take the job behind the service desk at my work because i didn't want to have to deal and touch the cigarette boxes. i cant stand it.

If you can light it and smoke it without sticking it outside your mouth, go for it.

I used to smoke for about 20 years!
I QUIT 7 years ago and definetely....

Smoking is a criminal action against our selves, our friends, relatives and other innocent people! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

I have to apologise to all of them,i harmed their health! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif

Baning is the last thing society have to do against smoking!

Here in Belgium not many restaurants or pubs or smoke-free yet (though most workplaces and all the buildings of my university are, phew), and I hate it when I go out and come back smelling like an ash-tray! I also tend to get watery eyes when people smoke around me and that's just so embarrassing with everyone thinking I'm crying + it also stings pretty badly. The laws were changed recently so all trains are smoke-free too now, but now smokers all quickly smoke their last cigarette on the platforms and that leaves me - you guessed it ;) - standing on the platform looking like I'm crying my eyes out over a broken hart or something http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif (thank god I haven't actually been comforted yet by some concerned old lady ;) ) I don't even bother asking them to stop because it's outside anyway and I really don't want to get insults thrown at me, so I just move along the platform to a smoke-free area... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
So I really wish that just all railway buildings and platforms would be smoke-free, but I don't think that's going to happen (and if they already are, nobody cares or gets reprimanded over it  )

thats an amazing thing to do. you should be soooo proud of yourself!

my dad has been smoking since he was 19... hes 49 now. its pretty disgusting. his toothbrush is brown. his hands are stained. he smells so bad. and he cannot quit. every time he tries he just acts like such an asshole. he is so mean. and i understand why he is acting that way, but its kind of out of control. he can't quit. hes tried everything. he's even been on medication!!

nikos - did you quit cold turkey? or did you have the gum or patch or w/e as an aid?

What would be the point of puffing on a cigerette while it's not even lit? Rofl.

And no, that wouldn't be bad for your lungs, considering there isn't any smoke! ;)

I guess people trying to quit could puff on an un-lit cigarette, or a fake one from the stores. After quitting, I usually blow air in and out of my mouth like I would the smoke.. as a nervous habit.

Smoking should be outlawed world-wide!!
I quit in January after it almost killed me-im Asthmatic, yet i still did it anyway...i know it was my own fault, but it resulted in a week in hospital (which i hated-thankyou Silent Hill!) after i suffered an asthma attack that bad i nearly had a heart attack (i was 18 at the time)
it scared the hell outta me! and i quit immediatly, no patchs or anything, i just dropped it like a bad habit, I have a four year old daughter and a loving girlfriend to match, i aint gonna lose them just because of some i like to toot on little white sticks! I now refer to those in the tobacco industry "Cancer Merchants" (feel free to use it")
