View Full Version : Tomb Raider Music
I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can download the tomb raider music from, as I only own the PlayStation versions and so I can't save them on my PC. I especially want the TR1 music, like the thor 'lightning ball' room bit, and the follow on from that music when you drop down to the bottom of that room with the 2 mummies (can't remember the level).
Anyway, sorry if this has been asked a billion times before or whatever, but you people seem considerate enough not to bite a n00b's head off! :D My computer is too broken/confused/slow right now to perform any kind of search. It'll probably take me 20 mins to post this thread.
Howdy Laura. Click HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/dl/tmp/tr1_theme.zip) for the Tomb Raider Theme in WAV format.
Hi Laura. Don't be afraid, most of us don't bite.

I'm not too sure about Draco, he claims to have eaten the easter bunny!
If I'm not mistaken, the TR1 music from PS can be taken directly off of the PS CD. I'll check it out and get back to this topic.

Yes, the TR 1 Playstation CD can be popped right into a CD player, and all the tracks will play, including the dialogue bits. It's rather interesting, actually, and kind of spooky when from out of nowhere you hear the cowboy say, "It's nothin' personal..."
Thanks guys! I feel so silly for not remembering that you can put the PS1 cd into the PC and it'll play! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif
You can't do that with the other ones though.. any idea where I could download them?
Also, my TR1 disk is so lovingly over-used it's a little bit battered and some of the tracks skip when I put it in the PC...grr!
Laura. All the soundtracks are available on the main SITE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com) - some are still pointing to an offline file manager but I'll change the links over ASAP.
Sorry but I find the main site a little bit hard to navigate.. I'm not trying to offend or anything. It's just so....HUGE! I've looked on it for the music, like from the main site map off the whole site directory but to no avail.
I'll go take another search around the site then.
Huge???!!!??? No way... Check the options at the top of your screen. They will help you a lot... Anyway... Click here (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/soundtracks.html) for the soundtracks... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Or you could go here (http://www.meode.com/index.html) for lower quality versions. Also, the version of 'Time to Run' (the Thor room music) here is the full length version - in the game the piece was chopped in two by the audio team and used in two different places. In fact, a lot of the audio in TR1 was implemented differently to how Mcree had envisaged, purely because of time pressures. ;)
Thanks Elen http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Thanks Ash, that site's great..it's got tonnes of stuff on!! I'm downloading the Thor piece now, I never knew what they were called so it was kind of hard to search.
(how did you know that?)

Extract from film music industry publication Field Of Dreams (http://www.fod-online.com) , interview with Nathan Mccree :-
Nathan: ....As it turned out, our deadline was cut short and although all the music was written, it was put in at a rather rushed fashion and so I am not as happy with the end result as I might have been.
Matthew: Why is that ?
Nathan: The music was placed in the game during some strange working hours without me being present. Many of the tunes play when they shouldn't and don't when they should, (personal preference I suppose). By the time I discovered this, it was too late to change anything.
This article was available in the online version, but has since been deleted - however i have a copy of it on my hardrive if anyone is interested. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Could you send it to me at LauraK9DR5G@aol.com
