Its one week until valentines (and laras birthday ;) ) This topic is so you can express your feelings for your other half (girlfriend/boyfriend wife/husband) or for that special someone who youd love to be your valentines!

Lets hear poetry and everything sweet in this topic http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I haven't anyone I love romantically but I will be having someone in my life to love not romantically a day after Valentine's Day-I'm having my Manchester terrier puppy! :D

Anyways, Valentine's day is simply a way for people to make money and cash in. It is also a day of high suicide rates and when hurt people feel even worse. However, the positive bit is the online stuff for Lara's birthday. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Awww...Miss Lara Croft, that is SO sweet! I hope you have fun there. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I personally put a slant on Valentine's Day. I celebrate it to remember how special my friends and family are to me. I don't feel bad about being single and as you all know, I'm happy to let fate deal with all that. Anyway, I'm a control freak and if I ever play the game of love, I'd be holding the joypad in an iron grip! ;)

There is a phenomenon that I personally nick name a "love curse." It is unhappiness associated to the issue of relationships often due to the issue of either not being able to get a partner or feeling unable to feel romantic love (a thing I nickname "Silverburgh syndrome" after Meryl Silverburgh in Metal gear Solid who was given psychotherapy to destroy her interest in men). Please do NOT write about this in a psychology exam-It is NOT a psychological thing. It is just something that I've noticed around me and given a **** name. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

People with a "love curse" often feel hurt when they see couples in love and Valentine's Day coming around is simply a day of further pain. I'm no specialist in anything but I give things, especially those I see around me quite a bit but with no words in mainstream language my own labels sometimes. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

A friend of mine felt a little down about Valentine's Day so what did we do? We staged "Solemn Love Curse Rememberance Day." This was basically a talk on Netmeeting that banned anything to do with love. We had a real good laugh. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I probably sound crazy to you all by now but I have a weird mind. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

To all those celebrating the mainstream way, have a great time with your partners! :D If anyone suffers from what I call "love curse," my heart goes out to you and I hope that you find it inside you to smile at least once on Valentine's Day. May you find peace.

Wow! Miss_Lara_Croft Thats great! I hope you have a great time!! Out of curiosity, how old are you both?? Have a GREAT TIME! :D

And Ocean-Sirius nice speach! I feel for all those who suffer from what you call 'the love curse' :( I hope they can just try and forget about valentines...I remember when I used to be like that, I hated valentines, so I got together with my friends and went out.

Valentines dont only have to be for couples, it can be for friends to http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif when me and none of my friends had boyfriends, we used to buy each other valentine cards, and go out together! So those of you who suffer from the 'love curse' keep that in mind. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Croft Woman-I used to have what my language nicknames "Silverburgh syndrome." However, it was not motivated by me wanting someone but that I thought something was seriously wrong with me having never even fancied anyone and I was afraid. I cried my eyes up at Metal Gear Solid when I saw someone (although only fictional) with a similar thing since I know what it can be like.

However, I met some nice friends online who made me realise that since I can care a lot for them, I can also feel romantic love eventually. I also discovered that since I know all too well that celebrities are just masked people living in the shadow of the papparazzi and one can never know whether or not they're their true selves, that is the reason I don't fancy them. Also that distrust played a part in my emotions.

I have never been a deeply unhappy girl so please don't feel pity. Please give your sympathies to the really hurt people instead. And no...this doesn't make me insane. For a good idea of "love curse" (not "Silverburgh syndrome" though), you may want to dig up an old song called "Somebody To Love" by Queen.

Please note: I'm not insane or mentally ill-I'm simply human. I'm also a VERY happy woman! :D

You are right that distraction from not having a lover is a good way to deal with it. Or as in my case, knowing that you don't need to fancy someone on 14th or to be worried about your "love curse." I celebrated it for the TR community and my friends and I never forget those poor souls out there either.

Now it`s time to redress the balance - pass me the bucket!!
Since i`ve never had a valentines card or anything, now is my chance to put the boot in and spoil it. :D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss
but I only slept with you, because I was ****ed

I thought that I could love no other
Until, that is, I met your brother

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is
your head

Of loving beauty you float with grace
If only you could hide your face

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot
This describes everything you are not

I want to feel your sweet embrace
But don't take that paper bag off of your face

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes
Damn, I'm good at telling lies!

I see your face when I am dreaming
That's why I always wake up screaming

My feelings for you no words can tell
Except for maybe "go to hell"

What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime

There you go ,i feel better now. ;)

Now Duffman is going to get embarrased... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif ... remember that thread where i said i write poetry and stuff... the one i won the AOD caledar from it (along side Draco)? - newbies wont i know - but could find it if they want, but anyway...

i dont have a girlfriend :( ... but i wrote this piece thinkin about posibilities... My valentine this year will be LC... But maybe someday some nice girl will sweep Duffman off his feet and ill have a real valentine... maybe...

Anyway, this is called "You" and it could be a song piece oneday and is only part of the entire thing, but it applies to all the brunetts here, as you are all beautiful to me... and to the others, well, im afriad the poem just doesnt fit http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif (but dont be discuraged - Duffman luvs all you lovely people here)...

-You-

The windows to your soul I see,
Staring straight back at me.
A smile that is so bright and fair,
And a goddesses glow on you rich brown hair,
Skin so soft, on an angel so sweet.
And a touch that would sweep you off your feet,

Itís You I think of when I sleep,
And You that saves me in this world so bleak,
You are the one that makes life worth living,
And makes me want to keep on going,

The current of wind blows through your hair,
Emulating the tide of my life.
A life youíve changed forever,
In a time that changes never.
Time waits not for anyone,
And stops never for everyone.

You are my girl,
And I donít want you to go,
You are the one I live for,
And I hope You donít say no.

-Lots of Love (an embarresed) Duffman-

Happy Valentine's Day TombRaidians, and in the spirit of the day, Happy Valentines to all you luvers out there... ;) have a good one!

PS.please dont copy this piece, i like it and would like to have to as my own... i shouldnt have to say that, but just thought i might...

Ocean - I can totally relate to what you are talking about, being confident about who you are and not letting someone else be your security blanket. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

And here is my contribution....... awwww isn't this cute? (pass the bucket to Werner)
