St Francis Folly was v hard i lost quite a bit of health near the start when i came to the last secret i had to try and get without inguring myself too much i found a way though i died a lot trying to do it lol
Pierre was akward too with having so little health i had too shoot from the damocles door it took ages too get rid of him. thats y it took me an hour!

Things are going swimmingly bunny one? Yes Bokkie, this is all working out rather well. This is the first time I've played TR1 since having made a couple of custom levels, and I'm learning a lot about level design. This game really is a classic. I can't believe I got through St Francis' Folly in under half an hour. The first time I did this, it took me two days!

I found 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI graphic card (second hand) for almost the same price as Glidos (Glidos is a little cheapier). I messed up in The Cistern and had to redo it again, and again and again. Pierre in there was a pain, got me hoppin' mad. But I liked flooding it and switching it again to play with the magic Crocs =)

I wish Core would do a DirectX version or something too. Yup, yup.

I found an easy way to finish this level. If you open the underwater door under the final temple BEFORE going on land and waking up the centaurs, you can get into the temple without having to fight them, heh heh. I met Pierre with almost full health. Poor bugger didn't stand a chance against the shotgun.

Poor Pierre. How many times does he die then? He dies in Chronicles too. I guess he must fall into that chasm in Chronicles and live somehow, and then meets up with Lara later in TR1. The plot thickens...

Yes Angel, and there's that door in the passage with the large medipak behind it and the switch beside it. You pull the lever and the lava flows at you, but the door stays shut and you don't get the medipak. Hmmm, I wonder...

Has any 1 actually had SECRET 3 LARGE MEDIPAK 2 UZI CLIPS register in all my time doing tr ive never got the chime i didnt even know it was a secret until i read it in a walkie.

Also another weird thing with this level after you leave to scion room and shoot the mutants the closed door from atlantis is open!
Y have core wasted their time putting in a room that completely useless :confused:

Ive managed to finish the game without using Medi-packs. Was close will Natla, one shot from her and I was dead. The stats showed I was missing a Secret too, plus one item and I havent figured it out yet after 3 tries. I dont feel like doing this level again today, I dont like Atlantis at the best of times. Im going to try again tomorrow or tonight. If it's the same results then Ill have to read a Walkthrough because Im sure I have everything.

I was back and too like a yoyo, but couldnt find anything. I was sure I had pick up all the stuff and the secrets. I had enought and looked at a Walkthrough (sorry), then replayed using it. The secret was right were I thought it was but no chime, plus it didnt show on the end stats. I saved just before getting secret 2, so I went back. I left secret 2 and carried on, sure enough secret 3 chimed, plus the status screen showed 2 of 3 secrets. So secret 3 does work, just not when I have picked up Secret 2. Ive done all sorts of tests, running from secrect 2 to 3 without saving, full health, leaving items on the floor etc. Nothing would work. I am going to try and go right back to Secret 1 and not save and see what happenes then, trouble is I have gone over that slot now so I will have to restart the level *sigh* Im not giving up till it says 3 of 3 at the end, its making me ears flop!

Hey, I had 4 chimes sound in Palace Midas level, but no 4 secrets :confused:

When i finished the level, stats showed 3/3, but i'm 100% sure that there were 4 chimes sounds, instead of 3!!! :eek: :eek:

Yes, I had an extra secret sound chime when I put a key in a lock somewhere, and it wasn't a secret at all.

Yup, yup. TOMB OF TIHOCAN it sounds like with the extra chime. That be when ya pick up a Gold key tae use in a lock to raise the blocks in the pool. Common on the PC verison. I get this nearly all the time *nods*

Yup its going quite well im just learning how to make water (im using shore tex) its i bit of a pain my editor i got it second hand and i think its a bit faulty not major though just certain textures wont load :confused: might try reinstalling

That's excellent Angel. There is so much to learn, but then again, it's amazing what you can do with just a basic knowledge.

I'm learning new stuff all the time. The latest thing was how to make multiple triggers work for one door, where you have to push two objects to make it open. That was kinda nice to figure that out.

You don't need to keep reinstalling the level editor. If you've enough room on your computer, or if you've got a CD writer, make a spare folder with all the original files in it. It's much easier just to replace certain files than to uninstall and reinstall again.

It can be a real headache sometimes getting to grips with it, and sometimes you have to really fight it to get things to work, but you get there in the end.

Can't wait to see your level.

Regarding to TR1's last level's Secret-problem... The program counts ONLY 2 Secrets of the 3. You can try to get for instance the 1st and the 2nd and then the 1st and 3rd to realize that they are all Secrets - listen the Secret-sound -, but however the program is a bit "buggy" here, and it counts just 2 (the first 2, if You want all). There's no way in the game to reach the normal 3 of 3 Secret to display, as it doesn't register the 3rd...

But there is a way to cure the problem: You can patch Your saved game by a HEX-editor. I purposely didn't try any savegame-editor, just because I literally wanted to patch a saved game, without "cheating" with a save-editor. So, I searched the address - $000001A1 - and I realized how it stores the Secrets. Check this little table for some examples...

BIN/HEX Result to display
000 00: Found no Secrets. (0 of 3)
001 01: Found only the 1st Secret. (1 of 3)
010 02: Found only the 2nd Secret. (1 of 3)
100 04: Found only the 3rd Secret. (1 of 3)
011 03: Found only the 1st and the 2nd Secret. (2 of 3)
111 07: Found all 3 Secrets. (3 of 3)

And so on... So this is simply binary-coded...

After You found all 3 Secrets, You can patch Your savegame by a HEXeditor. Just change the HEX "03" value (011, found the 1st two Secrets, 2 of 3 to display) to "07" (111, found all Secrets, 3 of 3 to display) at address $000001A1. Save the file, and that's it: You've successfully done what the program should've been done in the game. After this, load the saved game and the game will display correctly 3 of 3 Secrets after finishing. This is just a little manual correction, not cheat. Again: You should do it after You found all 3 Secrets...

Here's my Times-result from last year. As You can see, I was very slow, but as that was only one short level, I did some more restrictions on the "basic" HC: manual targeting (1st picture) and only pistols, and the usual all kills and all pickups; the long time and the huge bullet-using were because of the manual targeting, and the crocs were the hardest at the small lake (it took me ages to kill them all)... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Usually I don't kill every enemy - for instance, I always spare the two tiger's life at the beginning of TR2's "The Great Wall" -, but in my latest HC-walkies, I wanted to take it to the maximum. And from TR4, it was really one tough challenge with manual fireing...

But I promise, I won't do that anymore... :D

Obviously I won't play AOD in HC for a while... ;) Anyway, it was just some kind of "trip" for me: a different walkie-method what I tried. This is originally Hamster's regular gameplay, He always plays the whole "Old Gen" with this method. So I think I'll try AOD in HC, after 3 or 4 or more walkies... Anyway at Home, we were talking about how cool would be an optionally selectable "HC-Mode" in AOD. Imagine: there's a menu option - like manual targeting in TR4-TR4Times-TR5 -, called "HC-Mode: ON/OFF" and You could activate it, if You want it harder. And then the program won't allow You to use up any medipacks... :D Do You hear me, Gary?! :D
