Hi. I have a copy of EIDOS TR 1 unfinished business which I used to play on a 486 (years ago!). I now have W2K and it won't install. I've read the FAQ on the site which says "after installing, go to....." but I can't get that far! A DOS window opens, then just closes again. Same if I install through CMD. I can run the game from the CD but the gaphics are awful & no sound. Am I done for? Do I have to buy a new version? If so, are any 'guaranteed' for Win 2K?

Thanks in advance

Lenny

hi lexilen, welcome to the forum http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well, there are several ways to make TR1 gold work on Windows 2000.

- You can download Glidos (http://www.glidos.net/download.html?lang=en) and VDMSound (http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/) software for graphic and sound support. If you are going to use Glidos, you will need to download TR1Gold Glide version (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/cgi-bin/downloads/dl.pl?dm_tombraidergolddemo2) (this file is not demo version as filename shows) but it requires original Tomb Raider installed on machine.
- You can try to download the patch i created. It can be downloaded here (http://www.ratkovicdesign.net/downloads/patches/tombraid.exe). This patch work with both TombRaider + Gold. It requires VDMSound (http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/) software and it's configured for Glidos (http://www.glidos.net/download.html?lang=en) by default

If you have any questions or problems, please post your message inside this thread

Good luck http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Bokkie, and thanks.
But I have to confess to less than success!. Remember, I am not a gamer or PC guru !
I have downloaded VDMSound and installed it. I have also downloded your tombraid.exe patch and run it, resulting in a number of unzipped files similar to those on my TR-UB CD.

Now what? If I run any of the .bat or .exe files in the new folder, I get a "missing PIF file" error. If I boot my CD or run the INSTALL file manually, a dos window opens with a "run time" message, then the window expands to full-screen black, then it collapses and I get my desktop back. Nothing has been installed on my disk. Am I missing something.

Thanks for your help
