View Full Version : Windows 2000
Service Pack 4 is now available for download from Microsoft - but be warned - it's big 130MB, although this will be less depending on which previous packs you already have installed, but none of these are needed to update to SP4.
Anyone with SP3, should especially update - it's widely regarded as causing more problems than it actually solves.

Well, I do not agree, SP3 resolves lot of problems on my Windows 2000.
Anyway, anternate link for downloading Windows 2000 SP 4 - HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/download.asp)
I'm curious, but what kind fuctions or fixes does this update include? I'm curious since I'm supposed be picking up both Windows 2000 Pro and Server soon.
you'll find a list of all the fixes on microsofts website.
I installed SP3 onto my pc at home and had no problems, although when installing on 11 machines at work - 2 wouldn't start up again, and another 4 have had serious problems since.
BTW - it's not just my opinion that SP3 isnt all that brilliant, we had an email come round from our network troubleshooters saying not to install it because they were run off their feet sorting out companies netowrks that it had been put on. And after all SP4 is only 6 months later which is quite a short time...
I installed SP4 over already installed SP3 that were installed on SP2 which was installed on SP1 :D
Lot of bugfixes, but I must admit that Windows 2000 is stable like never before ;)
Can't agree more http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
