Hi again http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

In my C: directory, there's a txt file named "Wialog". It seems to be increasing in size, and now it's 2.428 KB  When I open it, there's an endless and confusing list of stuff, from which I understand though that it may have to do with my scanner - as it contains lines like:

InitScannerDefaults()Width bytes = 2552Lines = 1169Release Hardware successfully ID= 1440

Does it actually have to do with a scanning device? And is it safe to delete it? Also, if I do delete it, will it reappear as soon as I use the scanner (or whatever has to do with it) and start increasing in size again?

Hi Nicky. It is a textfile? Then you can delete it.
What is the brand of your scanner? Does "Wia" sound familiar to you (not to me) ?

If it IS your scanner, there might be an option in the settings in which you have allowed it to make logfiles everytime. Just disable that option then.

2,5 Mb is pretty much for a logtext.
A log is only to give information to read, so you can delete it without any consequences to the functioning of the device.

Hi Joseph! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

It's a textfile, yes. What a relief to hear that I can delete it safely! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The brand of my scanner is Visoneer One Touch. I'll look into what you say about the logfile option. Most probably, this is what caused it to appear.

Thankies http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

The only references to Wialog.txt was on German sites. Here is a computer translation http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Looks like it's the scanner.

In the Root-index on my hard disk C a file wialog. txt, that supposes and always further grows a horrendous size, is. Which function this file has and is needed it of the operating system or can delete one it (I take on, that it in the next computer start newly designed becomes - however perhaps wär it then once smaller)

Re: hello Doris! ...Hast you an Aldi-scanner???

Here somewhat in addition had found have, and to be sure all this problem with the "Aldi-scanner". SUBJECT "wialog. txt - scan program writes the HDD voll..."

Something runterscrollen, wrote an user this. The same, irritating problem had. Would have then at the last weekend of the Medion-Supportseite the newest driver for the scanner (17.2 MB) loaded me and had installed. See there - no wialog. txt more! Hello quaked

on just this side, I am knocked in the fumbling also - however how said, I disengaged now this windows service and installed a new scanner driver, and see there: everything is settled

Would thank for your effort Doris

Hey Sim http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

After I posted the question here, but before I got Jo's answer, I did a little googling and saw that it provides only links to German sites, indeed :D Curious, isn't it? It goes without saying that I was completely lost http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif There was only one French forum, but wasn't much help.

I also saw this forum you quote, and the only thing I understood was "scanner" and "Doris" :D At least this reinforced my suspicions that this logfile had to do with a scanner thingy http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Thanks for the translation :D
