View Full Version : PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, everyone know I am NOT a puter expert, so I am sorry for such an ignorant question, but I need some expert help here.
I had just gotten to TR-Last Revelation level of Return To The Temple Of Karnak when my hard drive died. I lost EVERYTHING! I bought a new 160 gig hard drive, installed it with everything that was there to begin with, including the dreaded Windows XP. Now TRLR will not even install, much less play. I had intended to go through the first level again long enough to get the amulet again, then skip level back to where I was before the hard drive crash.
My questions are...1) Why did TRLR play properly on Windows XP before but not now? 2) I found the TRLR Windows XP patch on this site, but it does not seem to work, I keep getting dumped back to the dest top with an option to send an error report to Microsoft. I have windows XP Upgrade from ME with Patch #2. Anyone have any suggestions? Please?

You say the game won't install, and that the patch won't work. Well you need to have the game installed before you can use the patch!

So, how exactly will it not install? Can you tell us exactly what happens, detailing any error messages you receive?

OK Neteru, here is what I got...For AOD I am getting error for Fault Buckets 01277775 or 03109267 or 01982226. For TRLR I get the following error..."Faulting Application Tomb4.exe version 0.0.0.0, faulting module tomb4.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0008ec79" There seems to be a total of 4 different fault addresses...the same as above except Fault Address 0x00070269 or 0x00070029 or 0x0008ec09

OK, in the PM, I directed you to the AOD FAQ (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/tr6/faq.html) for the sys_error_d3d error you get. You need to follow the instructions there.

For TR4, I was forgetting myself. Let's keep it simple first. Try setting the Compatibility layer to Windows 98. To do this, navigate to your game folder and right click on the tomb4.exe file and select Properties. Click the Compatibility tab and in the drop down box under 'Run this program in Compatibility mode for:' select Windows 98, Apply, OK. Then see if it will run.

Hey Neteru, there is no help in that link for TRAOD for the error I am getting. What bugs me is that TRAOD is designed for Windows XP, among others...really odd.

Yeppers, I have already tried changing the compatibility mode for TRLR. It does not work. Besides that there is not a Windows 98 choice, only 'Windows 98/Windows ME' choice. That does not work either. Just for fun I even tried changing to Windows 95. Nada.

WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!! It works!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Neteru, but it seems all I had to do was download NVIDIA Windows GeForce2 GTS display drivers to make BOTH TRLR and AOD work properly!
