Problems with TRC on the PC

Dear Tech Support,
I recently bought Tomb Raider Chronicles. When I tried to open it, the screen went black for about 3 seconds. A message then appeared. It said: Failed to set up DirectX.
I downloaded DirectX 8.0 1 week ago and am stumped as to the fix to this problem. Please reply soon.

I downloaded direct x again, but still it does not work. What do I do now??

oll123. See your previous thread on the TRC demo and note down the settings you used to successfully get the demo to run. Then set the Full Version up the same way and reply to this thread with your results.

Thank you for the advice but upon closer inspection, I found that the same problem occurs with my TRC demo!!! What do I do??!!

That's right, but something has happened to my direct x while redecorating my computer!!
What do I do??

thanks for the help, but all i had to do was to change my display settings from 256 colour to 16 bit colour!! Sorry for wasting your time.
