Please Help Me,
I watch the first FMV up until it zooms in on the base of the statue, then the computer freezes. After a few minutes it kicks over to the load screen. Almost all of the bar loads up, but a little doesn't. After about 5 more minutes the game starts. I can play up until the I go into the garden and walk up too the building with the snake like statues over it. When I get there the game goes back to the desktop and will it is going back I can here Lara say if you want to climb. I have tied it two different computers and gotten the same results, in fact I have tried two different discs because the first box that I got did not have the level editor in it so I had to exchange it. All my drivers are up to date, I have tried it both with DirectX 7 and 8, I have even installed it and then reinstalled it. I have a Dell Pentium III 733, 128 Ram, a SB live card, and a 32 mb NVIDIA GeForce AGP Graphics card. By the way the Level editor works.
Thanks
Chris

Chris.
Your system specs are ample to support Chronicles, so I would suggest there is a driver compatibility problem.

First off, download the latest drivers for your card (check their web site for details)

also, how do you have Chronicles installed (i.e which boxes are checked in setup) ?

Thanks

the drivers are defintly up to date, made sure of that. I tried having none of the boxes checked and then them all them and them some. I have tried all different resolutions too.

What o/s are you running, and can you confirm that you have loaded DirectX v7 ?

I am running Window 98 SE. I have DirectX 8 right now, I did the diagnostic and it is working. I had 7 and it was working too

Chris, are there any other programmes running in Windows background, i.e perhaps a virus scanner. I'll check with Microsoft to confirm whether or not the gFORCE is supported by DirectX, although we have a terminal here running that card and have found no problems.

I shut down everything in the background but it still does it. When I ctrl alt del to get out of the game when it freezes, i get an error message. I don'think there is anything wrong with the video because the demo and the level editor work fine.

Hi Thanks for everthing but i have decided that the two discs I had must have been defective. I have now tried the same disc on two more computers and it still does the same thing. I am going to take it back and start again. Hopefully my next disc won't be defective. Thanks again for your help

Chris, let me know how you get on. I will continue to find out at MS whether or not your card is supported by DirectX and will return to this thread.

Merry Christmas!
