Rigor, Welcome to the forums. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

1.) Tomb Raider II:

ingame sound: ok
Movies: ok
music + surrounding sound. No :-(
Check if you have a audiocable present, connecting your cdrom- or dvdrom-player to your motherboard or soundcard.

Also, check that "digital audio" is enabled:
First, in Windows soundvolume control, check that CD-AUDIO is not mute. Volume up.

And check the same situation in the sound control menu of your soundchip, or soundcard (like the Creative surroundmixer with Creative Soundblaster Live! or Audigy2).

After this, go to Device Manager. Doubleclick on your cd-rom drive / tab Properties. Check on "digital cd-audio for this cd-rom drive".

10-02-05, 00:56
Btw: you have the same graph card as i have! :D http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
Why do you still use an older driver? (Driver Date/Size: 12/1/2004). Latest Catalyst 5.2 (http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=9&submit.y=3) < - - - linkie

- Tried Patch for TR4 -> very good speed ok!! (Thx, Neteru :))
- For T2+3 i think I need more time to check.
- @joseph: This I checked, I have all you show me. even I try to test a normal Musik-CD it works. But not TR2 :-(. I write more in the evening. Catalyst 5.2? Is this not 6.14? OK I check and download Driver (wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-10-050119a-020581c.exe?):).

For TR2, you'll need to make a audio-fix then, as explained here: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/tr1walk/trso_sound.html
Tr3 asking for cd. i don't understand, because you have it. PM me your email adress and i can send you a tool. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Check your email box, Rigor. ;)

Your screenshot, could you show screenshots of the contents of the DATA folder, the tr2, tr3, and tr4 folder?

11-02-05, 17:59
I have the same DVD and the same problems.

As Roger said, the slow loading problem in TR4 is wiped out with the patch.
I burned an Audio-CD like decribed in the second method and I get BGM in TR2 now.
I confirm, that TR3 won't work anymore when patched (asks for CD).

I want to make a CD for each game, but I don't know which files belong where.

Here screenshots of the directories you asked for:

11-02-05, 19:37
OK. I will start with TR2. Here is what the original cd looks like:

The DirectX folder is of no importance, you can ignore it.
I have to go now. I'll be back in half an hour with screens of TR3 and TR4.

11-02-05, 19:39
@Grandizer: wow, great screencopys. looks infact better than my one :).
In my installationbook, it says that this versions dont have to be patched, because all files are up to date.
But than why (for goods sake) this game dont run as good as it should?
I mean they make so much effort to collect and reorder and maybe patch ( and and and ) this versions (year 2002). I dont understand this ;-(

To the Files we see above:
T2 T3 T4 is only a small data-folder. I make here sreenshot of the others, when i find time.

11-02-05, 19:48
And this is how NERO looks at it. It sees the audiofiles too.

11-02-05, 20:02
Yes. And this you dont see in DVD-Version. There you only see a (for copy-protection I think) "Track1" with 360 min. But until now, i dont know where they put this tracks? Maybe it is the *.wad file (250 MB) which is in the "audio"-Folder. But than I dont know why it not work.

11-02-05, 20:08

OK.OK Sorry sorry :)

Thanks Rigor. :D

Sorry but it don’t work good. (....)

For T2 I cannot make a CD with this audio-flies , because I have the DVD-Version, so its more complicated. I also guess, that this DVD works not as same as the CD-Version. Never mind. If you have any other idea I would be glad. It cannot be that I buy a DVD-Version andthan it don’t work. Even of one of my older computer (windows Millenium, P200) the game dont work as it should do. Before some years, I had TR2-4 as normal CD-versions (I sold them, but I regret now) I had never so much problems. This make me really sad. So I think I must get T3 and T2 as normal CD-Version again L.

And i replied: Originally replied to Rigor's email, by Joseph:
I don't know if i aleady said it but:
In xp, never launch TR2 - 5 with the autoplay. Always: put cd (or dvd) in tray. TR-menu comes up, you choose "exit".
So, for TR3:
Click Start / All programs / Core Design / Tombraider3 / Run game.
Or: open Core Design / TR3 folder, and doubleclick the tr3.exe. You will, of course, have replaced the exe with the one from the patch.

Now, the audioreplacement. Maybe you should do this: copy ALL the TR2 game files, burn onto cd, then make a replacement audio-cd.
Your problem is totally new to us, because this is obviously a new release, we have never before seen this dvd-version on the forums.
So, i don't know yet what they changed on the files, or if they are exact the same as the cd versions.

You are absolutely right: "It cannot be that I buy a DVD-Version andthan it don’t work"
Please, I prefer to keep this discussion on the forums, where it belongs, so that everyone can contribute. ;)

See you there.
Rigor, do you have a nVidia graphic card? Which drivers version do you currently use?

OK, I just made a TR2 CD, structured exactly like posted above.
It works like a charm! thanks joseph! (cd-autorun works too)
An important note: I had to put all 61 tracks to get the right music in the game. Putting only 2 to 61, like mentionned in the guide, plays the wrong music (no music in the menu for example). May be someone can rectify this in the guide.
Used Nero Express to burn by the way (version

Waiting impatiently for the structure of TR3 and 4 :D

@Grandizer: Thats good news. I willl try that. Thx for the hint with the 61 tracks I make one when I have time.

@joseph: I use a Radeon 9500 pro. and I use the latest Catalyst Driver. 6.14.

@ rigor
I use the latest Nero Express version:

12-02-05, 15:56
Ah yes. After installing my Neroexpress6 it works (burning). But I made a ISO-File first. I loaded with D-Tool. Did not work, no musik, i will burn a cd and try again. I report.

12-02-05, 16:01
You better test with a CD-RW instead of ISO...

12-02-05, 16:14
It works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I test wether there is a cut scene at the end of level 1 or not ;), Than I am satisfied for now.

P.S.: did you already test T3 in that way??

@joseph ok 5.2

Cutscene works (first time I hear it in english http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

12-02-05, 18:11
OK, my report on the TR3 CD.
Making this was a bit of a challenge.

First of all, don't use the patched tomb3.exe. The one provided on the DVD works perfectly with Windows XP.

Second, the files that have a tr3-extension should be kept tr3, and not changed to tr2!
Same goes to tom3pc.dat and mai3.sfx, DON'T change them to tombpc.dat and main.sfx.

Third, rename the fmv files from rp3 to rpl.

That's it. You get a full working 528MB CD (yes, the intro fmv shows up after the Eidos video http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif ).

12-02-05, 18:46
You are great. You are Nr.1.

You are one of this family????? :D

Whish you a nice weekend.

12-02-05, 19:18
Yes thats true.
Without him we would be in a "trial and error" mode. Thx also from me Joseph :D

P.S.: Hope one of Eidos see this tread, to learn how to make a working DVD (i am sure they didn`t testet the DVD for 100% working) http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

Hey guys!!! I'm happy you succeeded! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I'm glad i could be of help. :D

But still, it is not solved why the dvd doesn't work as it should. Well anyway, when i see it in a shop be sure i'll buy it to examine. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif What have you paid for it?

Happy Raiding both of you! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

12-02-05, 21:36

And could you please present a readable screenie of the backside of the box where it tells all the details about which company brought it out and when , "recommended" specifications etcetera? Interesting info? Thanks in advance.

12-02-05, 23:12
Yeah, very cheap, that's why I bought it :D
But cheap is cheap, nothing works right :(

Anyway, you can download the scan of the back HERE (http://grandizer.250free.com/trback.jpg)

13-02-05, 00:16
WindowsXP is not supported.

Still, when partially reconstructed the games seem to work for you both without patch. :D

13-02-05, 10:38
I also payed 7€ and 3€ sending. (www.amazon.de).
I did not see this game by amazon.com. So if you want this game, perhaps by ammazon.de.
The "Bonus-stuff" has some nice Artwork. Some files have a size of over 30 MB. So they are in best quality and in format: *png,*tif, . . .(look at the Filelist I send above).
THe included 3 screensavers dont work. PC say he need windows 3.11 or Win95 to install (lol).
So for me the high Quality artworks seems to be the best om this DVD.

P.S.: lets see what Eidos-tech-support will tell me about that problem. I send an email to them.

- I found out in WWW that this game came out on chrismas 2002, with several other "Collectors Value" like Soul Reaver 1+2" and "Commandos 1+2".
- It had a price of 50€!!! when it came out.

Honourable mister Schröder,
At first you should realise that none of this Tomb Raider DVD was developed for Windows XP. Sadly we cannot guarantee that this software works entirely!

You could take following steps in order to play Tomb Raider:
Navigate with Explorer to the directory, in which you have installed Tomb Raider. There, right-click the 'play-file'(EXE file) f.i. Tomb.exe, and then you go in the submenu PROPERTIES. Here you must activate the Compatibility-mode and fix it at "Windows98/ME Compatibility mode".

After that, in Setup please set the resolution at 640 x 480 or choose a higher resolution and de-activate the FMVs.

Please after that start the DirectX Diagnose program, by clicking Start -> Run. Click on the tab Sound. Set the slidebar for the Sound accelleration at standard accelleration. These settings activate as soon as you have exited the program - a Windows reboot is not needed. If the problem persists please set the slide bar to minimal or no accelleration.

It is the first time we hear that the DVD does not work correctly! What happens exactly, when you place the DVD in the drive?

Previous Message:
Boris Schröder

Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen, i have the following problem: After successfull install on my Windows XP system, there are no environmental sounds to be heard in Tomb Raider 2. This is a reason why at the end of "Level 1" no cutscene follows. This way, the game loses atmosphere. In Tomb Raider 3 there are no cutscenes. After the Eidos logo immediately comes the Startscreen with the select menu. Tomb Raider 4 does run 100%, but the loading is very very slow.
To this problem we have started a thread at (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=001501;p=1). However, we were not able to solve the problem in a normal way. The DVD is not functioning right this way. Only after i burn a cd for tomb raider myself and rename the files for the cutscenes in TR3 from rp3 into rpl, it works. Also for TR2 i had to compile my own cd to burn and add a 40 MB package of WMV-files downloaded from the internet which i then could burn with Nero6 in MIX-mode. When i explore the DVD i don't see any soundtracks for TR2. Where are they then please???? All in all, i don't understand why this DVD won't function on my P200 with Windows ME. I am asking your opinion. Does a patch exist, which solves these problems (those for the cd-version do not work, except TR4). Greeting
Boris Schröder.

@Joseph: :) thx a lot for translating. I send a second message and got a second answer nothing worth to be mentioned. Eidos-Service basically said: "DVD not made for Windows XP". Read Systemrequirements.
So nobody there recognised the fact and effort we must undertake to get a working "non-DVD".

15-02-05, 21:10
Yeah but that's what i have said also: Originally posted by joseph:
WindowsXP is not supported.

And you wrote to them: this DVD won't function on my P200 with Windows ME. So, you're on Windows ME.
Why did you say that? Because your dxdiag shows WindowsXP Pro, and an AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1900+, ~1.6GHz.

Or, do you mean: you tried also on an older pc with WinME just to check?

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Dont want to confuse you
Or, do you mean: you tried also on an older pc with WinME just to check? Sure I only testet. I try it because this Support-Team resist to mean I shall read and that XP is not supported. (what we all said). But know he cannot say this. Because on machines with Me and P 200 it also failes. (besides I dont like ME).
This DVD is working. And in the letter to Eidos I say when I dont know the Cutscenes and the Musik on the TR2-4 i would not know what is missing (perhaps).

16-02-05, 21:39
Well, they don't even know what they are talking about.
This DVD was obviously made without sufficient testing, not even on older Windows versions. They just made sure the games work, and didn't pay attention to details like the BGM in TR2 or the FMVs in TR3 (and to be frank, I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't come to this site...)

16-02-05, 22:34
. . . .but please say now you enjoy TR more than before http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

16-02-05, 22:46
Grandizer. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif You made me very curious to try the dvd out. I saw it available on the german amazon.
Nowhere on a dutch site. :(
I don't buy via internet shops (don't pay via internet). Do they send 'under rembours', if you know what i mean: i pay to the delivery-guy who brings it at my door? That is: to a foreign, yet neighbour country (Netherlands)?

16-02-05, 23:34
@ Rigor
Definitely! the music in TR2 is essential imho! makes the atmosphere much more dramatic.
And the FMVs of TR3 are fun.
Same goes for the loading times of TR4, it would have been annoying without the patch.

@ joseph
The DVD is not available directly from Amazon. You'll have to ask the different resellers that are listed for the article by Amazon, wether they accept other payment methods than credit card.
Or look by eBay.

17-02-05, 08:33
I don't buy via internet shopsIf you're worried about reliability Joseph, I've never had a problem with Amazon.co.uk, and any reimbursements due are paid back into your account immediately.

. . . I dont want to spoil here, so, I only paste links ;) (139 kb all)

Rigor http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Thanks for that http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif No, I don't know german :( Well, except for a few words :D But I'll have a look anyway; these sites have the same structure, and most of the times it's not too difficult to make guesses http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

In IrfanView, click Options / Properties / tab "Extensions". There you check ON 'PSD files' so that IrfanView can read them.

This screens I made with Photoshop 7.0. Only this programm shows all Thumbnails correctly. (I dont try Gimp 2.2, maybe there is a chance to see them also correctly).

Iīve bought Tomb Raider II-IV (Collectorīs value) on DVD, too. I was disappointed because of the missing Music and short FMV`s in Ingame graphics, which I knew from the playstation version. In fact Eidos didnīt put them an the DVD. Maybe itīs a technical problem, because Mixed Mode (Data/Audio Track) on DVD wouldnīT work? So I downloaded the soundpackage from www.tombraiderchronicles.com (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com) . After iīve burned it and put in first cd-rom the sound was like the Playstation version, but in english. So I extracted the soundfiles from my playstation-CD, took their first dummy track and for the rest the german tracks. Now the PC-Version has all sounds I was familiar to from the Playstation version (and itīs in my language, and with the short FMV between first and second level). I think itīs an easy solution.

01-07-05, 21:03
What you say sounds good, Buzzlightyear! You're talking about TR2, right? So you now hear the PlayStation sounds while playing the pc-version? But how does the game know when to trigger them? You know: in specific areas, and before specific enemies will attack, the PS version has those extra music... the PC game does not know when to trigger those tracks... or do they?
Could you elaborate a bit more about what you did?

02-07-05, 16:40
The Pc Version seems also triggering the short FMVīs and Music at the points where they belong. I donīt know how it works but anyway the only important thing seems to be the right order of the Tracks (desciption here: http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/trso_sound.html). I made an Audio-Cd with the missing soundfiles (not contained on the DVD-Version; thanks to Eidos). I extracted the files as Wave from the playstation Version of TR2. The first Track has to be a dummy Track because normally it would be the DATA Track (Mixed Mode CD). So I took the dummy Track from tombraiderchronicles soundpackage as first Track. Then I added the Rest (Track 2-61) from my PS version. Then I burned it with Nero. Now the important thing. The Audio CD (TR2 Sound) has to be in first CD-Rom. The Game-DVD elsewhere. It works fine.
I would like to make my soundfiles downloadable for other users but I donīt know how to make it and what about copy rights?

Now my problem I donīt have cutscenes in TR3.

02-07-05, 16:46
The method you describe is the normal method for a mixed mode cd, nothing new. But i guess those 61 tracks that you extracted from your PS disc, are the same as on the pc version. Or do they differ from the PC version soundfiles?

I don't have the PS version, so i can't check myself.

02-07-05, 16:51
I have: </font> the original TR2 Gold cd,</font> a Sold Out version TR2 single ,
and</font> this German DVD TR2 -3 -4.</font>

02-07-05, 17:31
I think they are the same. But I only have:
- All Ps-Versions of TR
- TR 2-4 DVD

- TR 1 (Premium Collection)maybe the same as "Gold"

And my problem was to restore the sound of TR2.

02-07-05, 18:18
I just played TR2 from the german DVD version.

Indeed it misses the Intro music, ambient sounds, and some pre-action sounds like for instance a quick rolling music-sound just before Lara handles the cable-lift over the T-Rex pit in the first level. And it does not play the FMV at the end of the first level (the monk at the door, killing himself with the potion from a bottle).

On this pc i have a cd-rw burner ("K") and a dvd player ("L"). The German DVD can of course only be played in my dvd-player "L".
When i play my original TR2 cd in my dvd-drive "L" (which is the second player on my pc) i get the same result, although all files are (of course) complete on the cd. TR2 original cd needs to be played in the first drive ("K"), and i always do. Then i get all the sounds, intro, ambient sounds, triggered sounds, fmv's with full sound... just like you are used to on your PS version.

On my other pc, i have 3 players: A DVD-burner ("F"), a CD-burner("G") and a DVD-player ("H").
I installed and played the German dvd-version of TR2, in the first player, the DVD-burner "F". Still, no intromusic nor ambient sounds, no action-triggered musicsounds and no 'suicidal Monk'-FMV at the end of level 1.

The TR2 version on the German dvd is NOT complete. The abovementioned TR2 soundfiles are simply not present.
And the FMV at the end of level 1 IS present on the dvd, but is obviously not triggered, because it doesn't show up at all. Maybe because it is in the DVD's GENERAL 'fmv' folder, instead of in a fmv folder in the TR2 Directory, as it should and as it is on the original cd.

But it also is a fact, that this DVD is not claiming to be XP-compatible, on the box nor in the readme. And it doesn't matter if you use the 'Windows 98 / ME compatibility mode' of XP, that has no effect on this german TR2.
I will check how this DVD plays on my Windows ME partition. I will be back with that later.

So you either use the soundpackage from chronicles.com, or copied from your PS disc, they are the same.
There is a difference between TR1 PS or PC version (the latter has less ingame musictracks than the first)
But TR2 original PC version and PS version have the same sounds.

Buzzlightyear, i wasn't naming my Tomb Raider collection, i was only naming the TR2 versions i have.
My collection:
</font> TR1 Gold. Premier Collection. Two cd's include Unfinished Business. I have 2 original copies of this version.</font> TR 1 single. Sold Out version.</font> TR2 Gold. Premier Collection. Two cd's include Golden Mask. I have 2 original copies of this version.</font> TR 2 single. Sold Out version.</font> TR3. Premier Collection. Two cd's include The Lost Artefact. I have 2 original copies of this version.</font> TR4 The Last Revelation. Premier Collection. I have 3 original copies of this version.</font> TR5 Chronicles. 2 CD's, includes the Level Editor. I have 1 original copy of this version.</font> TR 2 - 3 - 4 DVD, containing the German versions of these 3 TR's.</font> TR6 AOD. First version the day it was released.</font> TR6 AOD. recent release which is a version with the Eidos patches already in it.</font>

02-07-05, 19:28
OK, here is the result. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I just tested the German DVD version of TR2 on my Windows Millennium partition.

In ME, i have 2 players:
dvd-rom player is "E".
cd-rw burner is "G".

I played the German TR2 dvd in the dvd-rom player "E" of course.
Well, however it is the player with the lowest drive letter, it still plays no intro music, ambient sounds and actiontriggered music (because they are not even present on the dvd), and it also shows NO 'suicidal Monk'-fmv at the end of level 1 (although the fmv is present on the dvd -however not in the right folder, as i explained above).

Also, it proves to be also in Windows ME a fact, that the original TR2 cd has to be in the player with the lowest drive letter ("E", in my case): when i play it from the other (the cd-rw burner "G"), i get no intro music, ambient sounds and actiontriggered music, the framerate is too slow to play. I didn't even play till the end of the level if the fmv would show up.
But playing original TR2 cd from dvd-rom player with the lowest drive letter ("E"), i get all sounds, fmv's and excellent performance.

Hello joseph!
What I wanted to say was that I have to put my self created Music-CD (not Mixed-Mode) of TR2 into the first letter drive. The Music is definitivly not on the DVD. Itīs sad but true and Eidos doesnīt care.
The description of creating a custom made CD is very helpfull; I made it with my extracted sounds; all dialogs are in german; also the monk scene.

Do you know why TR3(german version on DVD) has violet coloured blood and how I can change it to red blood. (By the way you have an impressive Tomb Raider collection).

02-07-05, 21:41
Yes you did excellent work to solve your problem, Buzzlightyear. You have your cd complete in German.

About TR3: UGLY!!! You are right: the blood is purple. No matter how i changed the settings, it stays purple. I just compared with my original TR3 cd, and without changing anything in the settings (except the resolution of course)and that blood is red.

02-07-05, 21:58
Yes: 32 bit or 16 bit, makes no difference, blood is purple (light-blue violet).
Our TR3 XP-patch applied to it always results in Windows Error.
I have not tested this on Windows ME yet.

I donīt know how this thing works but maybe check this on your original TR3-CD and tell me if it differs.
setup.ini :
AppName=Tomb Raider III-2

I think it could be the 4 line.

03-07-05, 17:22
Why do you think that? It has nothing to do with it. :D
Ok, here it is:

AppName=Tomb Raider III-2

03-07-05, 18:20

03-07-05, 20:19
I tested both on nVidia and ATI. Both same result. Has nothing to do with the graphic card.
The blood is even purple when playing the game in "Hardware emulation" . Which proves the problem is in the files on the dvd.

03-07-05, 21:35
Ok, then I have to play it in "sexy" purple style.
Is it possible to publish the german Soundpackage on tombraiderchronicles?

03-07-05, 21:51
Yes, why not?

[Edit: ok, i see it's 45 MB. I suggest you separate the specific German dialog files from the others, and pack them in ZIP. Then tell me how big the package is.]

04-07-05, 13:14
it is better share here for example

joseph, can you compare TR3 files on CD and DVD and find different ones?
http://www.md5summer.org/ is usefull for this.

04-07-05, 13:20
by the way,
what exactly fixes TR3 XP-patch?
i did not find any info.
http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp2.html leads to TR3 faq, TR3 faq does not mention hand-made fix.

04-07-05, 15:45
Hi PaulD. I don't know what the TR3 XP patch fixes. I don't even use it. TR3 plays without any patch on both my pc's with XP. SP1, SP2. Nvidia, ATI.

04-07-05, 15:58
The difference between the original TR3 and the German version.
German version has 2 more files:
</font> config.txt
it is dated 4-9-2001 and reads: DD 0
D3D 1
DS 0
VM 1
SFX 10
GAMMA 3.000000
DEFKEY 200 208 203 205 52 53 54 184 157 57 51 82 207 1
USERKEY 72 80 75 77 83 79 54 184 157 57 76 82 207 1
</font> data.bin
a BIN-file dated 4-9-2001</font>
Those 2 files do not exist on the original.
Also, the German tomb3.exe is 945 kB and dated 27-2-2002, while the original is 944 kB and dated 2-12-1998.

</font> On the original is a AWCS.AFP file, 680.697 kB large, dated 22-10-1998 18:31.
While on the german version this file is 1 kB, has the same date, but 1 hour earlier: 22-10-1998 17:31.</font> Original contains NEIR.AFP, large: 681.135 kB, dated 22-10-1998 18:31.
While on the german version this file is 1 kB, has the same date, but 1 hour earlier: 22-10-1998 17:31.</font> Original contains OKET.AFP, large: 681.351 kB, dated 22-10-1998 18:31.
While on the german version this file is 1 kB, has the same date, but 1 hour earlier: 22-10-1998 17:31.</font> Original contains VFAW.AFP, large: 681.979 kB, dated 22-10-1998 18:31.
While on the german version this file is 1 kB, has the same date, but 1 hour earlier: 22-10-1998 17:31.</font>
Of course it is impossible on a cd to have 4 such large files. Those files are related to the copyprotection, and give fake filesizes. Still, MD5summer needs a LOT of time to process these files. It is running for 57 minutes now, and busy with VFAW.AFP atm.

I wouldn't know what to do with the generated sums of these. It is of no use. It seems i am wasting my time.
The purple blood will likely be a corruption in one of the data files. Maybe i can find it, but probably not.

Buzz. Well, basically that would mean that you turn it into a UK version. The simplest method would be just buying the uk version i'd say. ;)

:( files are not damaged. purple/pink blood is feature of german and spain version. ask eidos why.
the only way for now to fix this is to open *.tr2 levels in editor, find appropriate "fixed" textures and refill purple with red, then save *.tr2

Interesting PaulD! :D Help fellow gamers!!!

All blood in the Brasilian version of Tomb Raider 3 is pink! I read in
The Croft Times that the German version of the game is also
censored with purple blood. This really reduces the realism of the game and
spoils the fun of playing it. Does anyone know if there's a patch to make
blood red again?

I think that Eidos messed it up this time... I'll be very carefully
(if) I buy other game of them...

Hi PaulD, you will mean tr3 levels.

05-07-05, 22:12
So, basically this would be a 'censoring system' on the game? I heard/read ofter that German games-versions have edited out blood... the German rules for gore and blood being different. I forgot which games those were.

In Netherlands, we always use the original versions of the games only with Dutch box and booklet.

Tomb Raider UK CD - DATA\*.tr2
as i see now
Tomb Raider German DVD - DATA\*.tr3

tombpc.dat - on original German CD
tom3pc.dat - on DVD collection

I opened them with notepad.

tombpc.dat; first line reads: Tomb Raider II Script. Final Release Version 1.0 (c) Core Design Ltd 1997
-it seems to belong to Tomb Raider II; might nothing to do with pink blood.

tom3pc.dat; first line reads: Tomb Raider III Script. Final Release (c) Core Design Ltd 1998 Ltd 1997

I donīt know if it works swapimg the tom3pc.dat with UK-CD Version.

tombpc.dat/tom3pc.dat are compiled and encrypted scripts. now i'm shure the pink blood is there.

i am looking way to decrypt, change pink to red, and encrypt back the script.

Hello PaulD. No, that doesn't work: still purple blood.

Now it is tested with german version. Works.

1. Download TR3 constructor rar-archive &gt;here v1.2 (http://rapidshare.de/files/2922001/GermanDVDTR3RedBloodPatch.v1.2.rar.html)&lt;, extract files.
2. Edit with notepad DVD2CD.cmd, change "set DVD=H:" to actual value. Save file and run it.
2. DVD2CD.cmd creates C:\TR3 folder and copies necessary files from DVD to C:\TR3 folder
3. When copying is done it prompts "Now creating Tomb3GerRed.iso", press any key to continue
4. Press and wait till iso creating is finished.

Next you can burn from this iso CD or download free CD emulator &gt;here (http://www.daemon-tools.cc)&lt; and test current iso right now.

Respect for your great work. I downloaded files let them "remuxe" and burnt them. After reinstalling the game blood was in red, heureka.
But something went wrong because the fmvīs are missing.
Quote (from Grandizer):"OK, my report on the TR3 CD.Making this was a bit of a challenge.
Third, rename the fmv files from rp3 to rpl."

Oh, no. i forgot about rp3&gt;rpl.
DVD2CD.cmd updated, new link is &gt;here&lt; (http://rapidshare.de/files/2922001/GermanDVDTR3RedBloodPatch.v1.2.rar.html)

Hello PaulD!
Just another note. After burning and testing the "remuxed" CD, some sound has gone. In Laraīs home there where no dialogues. I checked the data in C:/TR3/audio. In the remuxing process the file "audiocd.wad" was redated to current date. After I put in the original "audiocd.wad" dated: 13.11.1998, 16:18; sound was perfect. Maybe this change will only be checked if CD is burned. In ISOīs sometimes Audio doesnīt work anyway (TR1+TR2).

sounds quite strange. i do not have mentioned problem.

did you set for tomb3.exe compatibility mode "Win98"?

Hi PaulD!
Your programm extracts the files of the DVD to folder C/TR3. In C:/TR3/Audio the file audiocd.wad was redated and had current date.
So they didnīt work.

No, i didnīt set compatibility mode "WIN98".

Sorry, i play it in compatibility mode.

cdimage.exe in cmd should set date for all files to 1998 year.
so cdimage.exe does not appear to be working on your system. :(

anyway you can try mannualy create CD and do not forget to replace tomb3.exe and tom3pc.dat

Found another "RedBloodPatch" for TR3. Not yet tested.

20-07-05, 13:36
this patch is the same as I posted in my first link.

you reported that patch was trojan.

20-07-05, 14:44
I think itīs not the same. After running the patch from my posted link I had no trojan on my pc. Maybe itīs not the patch itself, more the "dhl" site which makes trouble.
