I have this nagging problem. I only heard about Tomb Raider when the second one was released. I tried playing the first one later on but the graphics on our computer were too advanced to run it (plus I think it was only a demo version). I an in love with Atlantis. I dream about it, am writing a book about it, and overall love the whole story. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what those levels in TR1 were like. I'm dying to know. Please and thank you.

well, basically pap! your stuck in a mine-then your in a pyramid!
The mines are simelar to the end of the great wall level on TR2, and the pyramid is full of wierd alien things and looks like something out of TR4-i don't think they do atlantis any justice to be honest

well i have the whole of TR1 and TR-UB translated and setup as a TR4 level pack ... though i'm not sure if i'm allowed to release it to people who don't have the game, i mean technically it isn't pirating but then again it kinda would be
i could take screenshots... they were kinda basic compared to the newer games - but then quite frankly TR was originally released in '96 so lol they've had like 8years of improving going on.
the whole thing had you in like the atlantis pyramid, and as you walked along you'd wake up mummies and flying mummies from caccons. the pyramid appeared to be set around and active volcano which sets the mood for the final battle vs natla.
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif it was quite cool at the time, and as you played it had this heart pumping sound - which at like 12am when you should be in bed getting some rest for school wondering when your parent would burst in... well needless to say it could put the poops up ya ;)

;_; Wow! That's really too bad that you haven't played the original Tomb Raider yet--it's the actual Tomb Raider legend! I'd recommend checking it out for the Playstation, if you haven't already. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Okay, I'm sure you've heard of the level entitled "Atlantis," but actually, the last three levels of the game ("Atlantis" being the second-to-last) are sort of centered in the Atlantian area. ...and so, we call them the Atlantis levels. These are the three Atlantis levels:
Natla's Mines
Atlantis
The Great Pyramid
In Natla's Mines, you're just getting to the pyramid. But, since you're only wanting to know about specifically Atlantis, I'll skip it--Natla's Mines just sorta gets you ready (it gives you your first experience with lava, and that sort of environment). :D Beware, the spoilers begin from here...I'm going to bold and italicize everything that you should skip, if you don't want me to spoil some of the game for you. :D
In Atlantis, you begin off in a dark hallway. When you walk down the hallway, fortunately, the lights come on. In the next room, however, your luck changes a bit... you find a room full of yellow-green pods. As you step forward...BOOM! One of the pods breaks open to reveal a demon (similar, if not the same, as the mummified cat demons you battled in the Egypt levels) that you must destroy. Venture much closer to the one on the other side of the room, and another pod breaks open. In this room, other than the not-flying cat demons, you also get another look at the flying demons (think cat demons with wings), which you also saw in the Egypt levels. Of course, you having not played the original all the way through, you have no idea what I'm talking about, really. :( But that's okay, because you'll buy the original (w-won't you? :D ).
In The Great Pyramid, you basically continue your way through to the top of the pyramid you've been stuck in for the last three levels. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif You also begin this level by challenging (and defeating, hopefully) the toughest (and also the ugliest) boss in the game. You also get to fight another boss... but I'll save you from more spoilers until you play the game (you will play it, won't you? I know you will. ;) ).
You can go here for a screenshot of one of those creepy pods:

Welcome BrittScythe http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I'll skip the deal about the mutants, you understand that already, I'm sure!
Atlantis itself is very creepy looking. Everything is made out of living tissue -- the doors are transparent webbed muscle tissue, the floors and walls pulsate, there are structures made out of bone... it's kind of disgusting but the graphics are low so it's okay (-:
Hi O.D.A,
