I just installed TR1 onto my computer with Windows 98, it works.. but there are no sound effects. It has background music. I have a CrystalSoundFusion card i think... when i tried to do the 'auto detect' in the setup menu when i first installed the game it crashed! :(
anyone have any ideas?

Mine doesnt have any sound effects either but i never bothered to check because im actually not sure if there are many :confused:

Hi there,

In the game setup try to select Windows Sound System as digital audio driver manually.

I had a problem with the sound so the technical people at Eidos told me:
Go into start and then run and run the program "dxdiag", click on the sound tab and change the acceleration slider to no acceleration

It worked for me-hope it helps

In case of Tomb Raider 1 that's not true, because TR1 is NOT DirectX game. It's not even a Windows game. It's a pure DOS game and can be started even without Windows installed on machine ;)

hmm.. i'm not sure whats going on..
I didn't install just TR1, i installed TR1 Gold and it came with these 3D Patches on the CD (or something like that..?) and i used one of those. It let the FMV play (which it didn't before) and i got sound effects from that. However, i couldn't load my saved games and it kept crashing. I'm not sure what to do now.. i might just have to go back to the way it was, without any sound effects. At least it was working then!

Hi there, I'm sorry but you can not load the saved games created in non-patched version with patched version. You need to start the game from beginning :(

yeah, that is what i suspected!
i think i'm just going to remove the patch and play how i was before.. it didn't cause any problems then.
