I have now completed all six games and I can officially say St Francis Folley is the greatest level of all time ever, so there. fact.

Yeah thats a great level :D

Palace Midas is my fave TR1 level though http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

A fair selection. It's amazing to think I first played that game nearly eight years ago, and the graphics were the best evr on a console.

I know what you mean :D

When I first played it was like "wow a 3D game" :D

I play it on the Playstation as it was meant to be played, us PS2 players don't concern ourselves with piddling PC ****.

Actually my PC isn't fast enough for them.

KV5 was cool... (TRLR)

I got bored with TR LR.

Come to think of it I have completed the TR Times level as well.

Palace Midas from Tomb Raider 1 is the best level ever http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

Colloseum takes some beating...

I agree with Bokkie. Palace Midas will never be beaten. Not now, not ever.

St Francis' Folly is a high quality level, but 2 of the 4 main challenges you have to do are pretty average, and the PSX save points are in completely the wrong places. The '4 challenge' thing was done a lot better in Lost city of Tinnos, anyway.

Kv5 is just pants.

I really liked 'The City Of Vilcambamba' & 'The Lost Valley' from Tomb Raider!

Not for the challenge, but for their atmosphere and how they looked and felt!

Yeah the atmosphere is important. St Francis Folley isn't that hard but it's the look of it when you walk in the door at the top. You can't beat the music on TR 1 either.

Also I like it when some of the challenges are a bit easier it encourages you I find, instead of just giving up.

Thats was the beauty of the first Tomb Raider game...The gameplay was so balanced, and the environments felt massive, it was almost like a field trip :D

Im getting all misty eyed now ** Obi Wipes tear from his cheek **

That's true. The first time I played TR1, I got eaten by the T-Rex in the valley. I was so freaked out, I couldn't play again for days. That's pretty good 'atmosphere.'

Another vote for the Folly from me. Just walking in and looking down kind of gave me Vertigo. A true testament to the games greatness when it can make you feel like that. Shame they started to lose that quality

I liked Lost Valley. The T-Rex was something special. Good times.

Sir Francis' Folly all the way!!

That level is a classic - the atmosphere and mysticism of that huge room, and the four greek gods or whatever they were, those challenges kicked ass.

I agree totally with Benoit and Obi about the balance in TR1 - its probably why it was and still is so successful.
I'm actually working my way through it right now (I'm on palace midas) and although the graphics are not that good anymore (for the time they were outstanding!) its the atmosphere and gameplay that make the game so cool.
I'm actually enjoying it more than AOD - I have full control over Lara in this one!!

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif Know what you mean  lol...I still play TR1, and everytime I get to the broken bridge, I have to pause the game cause my hands start shaking! Scares the snot out of me Every Time! I've played and beaten the game at least 6 or 7 times too.

Why are you people so afraid of the T-Rex in TR1? I beat it whitout any health loss...

It's just the music that annoys me with the T-Rex.

I usually put it on mute.

The TREX wasn't scary at all.

I shot him a few times i saved it. Then killed him.

Reloaded the save and killed him again.

It was cool steppin ova the dinosaur and the raptors which strangely died so close to each otha.

Atlantis was my fav. i loved the textures!!! wen i first played it in 1996 i was only bout 11 and it scared the living S*** out of my cuz u would never know when those demon things would burst out of those round things(very descriptive) and start flying after you. i almost went through the ceiling quite a few times in that level.
