View Full Version : Glidos??
What exactly is Glidos, and in what way does it improve the graphics of TR1? Does it make it look like Last Revelation? Man, if it did... that'd be great.
~O~
PS -- Where does one get Glidos?
I have no idea but I know what Glidos BBMP 9.0
Its a Running program that improves the quality of images and Improves speed and also has a Bug-free memory scan. And It has a file that can run games for higher reseloution. I had an image with 100x100 pixels and Glidos changed it to 1000x1000.
But I dont have it anymore and I only used it once.

Hey.
Glidos is a program that greatly enhances the quality of the tomb raider games. Not like the sound but the um..damn..i forgot the word. The scenary and the graphics. That's the word..the graphics. It safe on a computer, and the graphics are much better.
without glidos..I wouldn't play Tomb Raider.
The graphics are aweful without glidos.

Cool yes I think that was the one. But mines was an imaging one.
Hi SAMHo....TR1 was originally a dos game and later issued to run on Win95, but in dos mode, I think. The graphics were ordinary and very blocky. There were no super duper consumer 3d cards then.
The graphics company 3dfx came on the scene with their own programming language/interface called GLIDE, that ran on the voodoo 1 chip...this was a quantum leap in graphic processing.
Eidos/Core issued a patch so owners of cards based on the VooDoo1 chip could play TR1 in all it's beautiful graphical glory!, once the GLIDE patch had been installed. GLIDE only ran on VooDoo chip based cards. 3dfx & VooDoo have since gone out of business, all of their IP btw is now in the hands of Nvidia.
A programmer by the name of Paul Gardine came up with the idea of writing a GLIDE "wrapper" that converts GLIDE instructions into OpenGL(another programming language). Thus owners of OpenGL capable cards(almost all, if not all modern consumer video cards do, along with DirectX capability) can experience TR1 with smooth beautiful..for the time...graphics. He called this wrapper "GLIDOS".
All TR games since TR1 have been written in Microsoft's DirectX API. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
