View Full Version : Can't load project
i didn't see this anywhere else in the forum, maybe i'm repeating i don't know, but i been learning with the manual creating the rooms and objects just like it says and last night the program was working fine but today when i go to load my project, a window comes up and says "EVIL: unknown object type detected" the only option is to cancel but the window won't disappear. after clicking cancel about 8 times a new window appears saying "ERROR: execeeded MAX_OBJECTS available" after clicking cancel on this, the "EVIL" window appears again and then the program closes. any help or suggestions?
I've just recently received an "EVIL" error, however, I'm unable to remember what caused it. Normally, or should I say abnormally, this sort of thing is caused by a conflict between what's in the project file as compared to what's in the wad file. If repeated attempts to load the project continue to fail AND if it's extremely important to try and salvage the project, you might try giving the project a unique name (rename it to a non-factory name) and then reinstall the level editor. The Level Editor has a lot of "quirks" and often times it's nearly impossible to determine what's wrong... :(
thanks for your help. what is a non-factory name? just something that i make up? would i just create a folder and save it to that then?
Just save your project files that you want to keep in a different place where they won't get overwritten or lost. My logic is that the problem exists in either you PRJ file or in the wad. I can't do much about the PRJ file since you can't get it to load. So I'm basically just crossing my fingers and hoping that reinstalling the level editor will replace any corrupted files that may be causing the problem. If, after reinstalling things, the problem still exists, you may have to delete the PRJ and try and recreate what was in it.
