A BUG in the dreamcast version

I have been stuck on the trenches level on the dreamcast for 6 weeks. It is the machine guns with the flame thrower that keep killing me, but, before you say that I have to shoot the gas can I have tried it. I have did it with every weapon and it will not blow up, even the telescopic sites dead in the center of the can. I have phoned up helplines emailed everyone and I am now convinced that this is a bug in the game. Is there anyway that I can skip this level.

Please don't tell me there is not a dreamcast level skiping cheat, if you do I think I might smash the thing against the wall.

Don't shoot he middle of the can, shoot the white bit on the end with revolver. That should work. You can't really skip the level because that would leave you without the Nitro. Hence, you'd have to skip a lot more levels because you couldn't complete them due to the lack of important items in your iventory. But, if you want to skip levels, you'd have to skip 7 or 8 times to get to a level you'd be able to get to a level you could complete. Follow the cheats link from the home page...
