Sphinx steel door

I've got to the steel door at the end of level 38 and I've got the keys but I can't seem to find the lock. I have actually managed to get to the other side by sidestepping along the wall then reappearing out of the scenery then dropping down on top of the doors. Can you tell me where the lock is and can you also explain this unusual glitch please?

As you face the doors, turn to the left and you should see the lock on the left pillar by the doors. But don't worry about the glitch, I'm sure everyone gets swallowed by a pillar once in a while.
