The Gun in The Trenches...

I've managed to repeat playing the game without any level skips in a record time since I last posted the waterskin in the last level thing(well,except a few skips of the early days)
Anyway,now I'm stuck in this area of the Trenches level with this gun and I can't destroy its gas canister because it faces me wherever I try to go
I've tried all my guns(with and without the laser sight)from almost every side I could think of
Even my walkthrough and my unlimited weapons code don't help(yep,I'm a cheat all right)
Please tell me what the best weapon to use is and where is the best place to shoot it from,please don't give me this talk about crouching and crawling because I've already tried and it does not work

If it's the gun I'm thinking of (the first machine gun you come to), then to blow it up you...

Stand at the first knee high block you come to, to the right of the machine gun (but not on the same side as the gun), and crouch. If you're right by the block, the gun'll stop firing because it can't see you. Now crawl, keeping next to the blocks. When you get to the corner, don't go straight across, stick as close to the blocks as you can, and the machine gun will still point at the spot it last saw you in.

When you get to the back of the room, stand up, draw your revolver, and side step towards the hole behind the gun (keeping as close to the blocks as you can), until half of lara is behind the block, and the other half faces the gun. Shoot the white bit on the bottom of the barrel. Boom. Job done. So yes, the 'couch and crawl' thing does work, if you do it right...

But - do you have to use the revolver to do this? I have successfully got round the back of the gun but I am out of revolver ammo - and none of the other weapons seem to work. I can't find any more ammo! And there seem to be no cheats for Dreamcast...Help!

Revolver is easier, but if you use uzis/pistols and jump up & down you should hit the target in the end. It just may take a while so use pistols - they don't eat up your ammo.
