Hi everyone, I was doing a research on Crystal Dynamic and I found some screenshots of previous games they released. Who knows, this screenshots might be how Lara will look in the other games to come. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

Very nice! I have a strong feeling that the next game will open a lot of eyes in the TR community. Those apologists for Core may feel quite different when they have control of an agile, easily controlled, silky smooth-moving Lara. As long as they keep her looking and sounding like Lara, C.D. has a great chance to reinvigorate the series! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi, Im new to this board...well the main reason I signed up was to reply to this message. You see, I am a loyal and avid fan of the Legacy of Kain series created by the one and only Crystal Dynamics.

Recently, we, the LoK fans were told that Eidos were handing over the TR rights to CD and frankly, I was glad because if there was one company who took everything they did seriously (including their fans), its Crystal Dynamics. Im not saying the TR series was bad...it had its ups and downs and Im actually quite alright with playing Angel of Darkness as of now. Ive never played the others though but now with CD in control, I should be so inclined to purchase new TR releases.

If any of you were to look up the scripts for Blood Omen 1 , Soul Reaver 1, Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, you would see that story-line wise, CD is at its best and now with the releasing of their new game in the LoK series, Defiance, we've got supercool gameplay as well.

We LoK fans are ecstatic and now it seems we've got a bigger and extended family.

Take my word for it, if CD are the ones doing the TR series, they will NOT disappoint. Sure, they have a habit of extending datelines and cutting out parts...but somehow, everything they do always fals into place. All the little pieces fall into place and when the big picture is made up, you find another jigsaw to complete. Thats C.D for you...they keep you waiting and wanting for more.

ok i'm not exactly thrilled crytal dynamics is taking over tomb raider, but i'm open to any improvements they can make.
frankly, i just hate the 2 yr wait, esp after getting used to the idea new tr games came out annually, THEN waiting for a 3 yr spell for AOD. 2 yrs just seems too much, esp since i don't really play any other games.

For those who haven't played either of the games in the Soul Reaver series: Both of the Soul Reaver games have never been a disappointment to me--the graphics are great (especially on the second, since it's made for the PS2), the gameplay is smooth, the plots are great, and the games aren't buggy at all. If Crystal Dynamics comes out with a Tomb Raider game that works anything like either of the Soul Reaver games, Tomb Raider fans will definately NOT be disappointed! :D

For those who have played one or both of the Soul Reaver games: How do you think the new Tomb Raider will turn out, after playing one of the Soul Reaver games? I hope you'll think it'll turn out as great as I think it will. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

By the way: The first screenshot is from SR (the original). The underwater environments in SR2 are much better than those in SR. :D

There are many very good ones, even similar to Tomb Raider ("Primal", for one). I've heard that before from Tomb Raider fans and I think that's one reason why some fans don't quite understand how deficient AOD really is in comparison to other titles.

Hm, I'm actually looking forward TR7 & 8.. Crystal Dynamics might be great refreshment to TR games - all they have to do is keep the story and make nice characters - I'll kill them if they screw up Kurtis.. and Lara - and whhhhooooop, we'll have blockbuster game again! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif

CD definately has the potential to make Tomb Raider a great game. A new team isn't going to have any pre-concieved ideas of Tomb Raider should be, and could take it in a nice new direction. On the other hand, they lack the experiance with the gameplay and engines of previous Tomb Raiders. I think either company has it's advantages, but CD won out. Considering it's history though, CD should be able to creat an outstanding game.
:D

I hope CD makes a TR game, I mean with tombs, idols, objects, etc.. I hope they forget AOD because really AOD has nothing to do with the title "Tomb Raider"

The SOul Reaver games graphics were.... interesting. Not on par with AoD. But hopefully Crystal Dynamics uses a new engine to ramp things up

By the way: The first screenshot is from SR (the original). The underwater environments in SR2 are much better than those in SR. :D The reason why the LoK games was always successful, was because it was never milked in the way of Tomb Raider was.In fact, there have only been 2 LoK games to date(within 5 years), unlike the 6 of Tomb Raider.

Eidos basically milked Tomb Raider to the point where Core got tired of making the games due not enough time to innovate the series, thus Tomb Raider basically went into a state of decay and being worthless. Tomb Raider would always be worthless in the eyes of the gaming industry, but to Eidos a $$$$$

Anyhow, thank goodness LoK:Defiance is the very last game in the LoK series. It goes to show that Crystal D don't want thier IP(intellectual property) to become worthless.

I dunno. Iwas not impressed with the screens but thanks anyway(Soul Reaver Rules!!!). I find that Eidos and Core made their characters pretty cartoony (Timesplitters). I want to see some accurate face modeling. I saw some really impressive face polygon programming in Code Veronica X. Not much to say for the game, but the faces are great! Nostrils, teeth, gums and all. I hope it's gonna be like that in the next Tomb Raider. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/screenshots/ps2/residentevilcodeveronica/residentevilcvx_0607_screen008.jpg

see? This is not cartoony. But this next one is. http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/images/angelofdarkness_screen31/screen9.jpg

"Anyhow, thank goodness LoK:Defiance is the very last game in the LoK series. It goes to show that Crystal D don't want thier IP(intellectual property) to become worthless."

Um, Defiance is NOT the last game. This current plot may be over and done with in this game but there are many other things to explore in the LoK universe and a myriad of characters to utilize.

Soul Reaver was created years ago. If you guys want to compare AoD with a LoK game, look up the Legacy of Kain : Defiance screenshots and trailers and IGN or Gamespot and do your comparisons http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Really, with CD in control, I doubt we;d have anything to fear seeing how CD does understand the potential in the TR series. Im sure they'll make it better. And besides, they've always stressed that consistency is one of their attributes.
