View Full Version : lost domain
I'm at the very start of this level. I've already gone to the right and received the med pack and strength boost.
Now I'm at the part where you pull the lever and race for the door. I've tried to do this by jumping straight through and pulling myself up onto 2 ledges. The door is closing in my face as I get there.
I've also tried to go the left, off the first pylon, in that little tunnel. i've run through there and come out on the other side and made it just as the door is closing in my face.
I've done this like 100 times now and i'm not getting anywhere. Am I too slow or just stupid?
I could help you if i knew what level ur talking about :(
the name of the level is in the subject line http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
it's the one right after Kurtis kills the giant bug, Boza, or whatever her name is.
sorry about the above post.
I had originally put a bunch of white space between the spoiler warning and the spoiler but the board monster ate my white space.
Greetings Tank. Welcome to the forum. Take a peak HERE (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/aodguide) for immediate assistance. Enjoy your stay with us.
I've seen this document before and it seems that this section of the game is missing.
yea, The Lost Domain isn't included in the guide.
Tank, this is what you have to do:
Pull the lever that opens the door, then after the little cut-scene thing with the door opening, run backward a bit (so you can gain momentum), then sprint forward and jump (the sprint jump thing) onto the first platform.
Keep holding the sprint button while you're in the air, then when you land on the platform, sprint-jump off of the edge of it, and do the same for the next one, then you should be through the door.
It took me a few tries to get it right, but it worked, you just have to keep sprint-jumping off of the platforms without stopping anywhere.
Once you get through the door you'll come to a big room with lava stuff all over the bottom, and stone pillars sticking up out of it.
Jump to the first pillar (I think you have to do a short-jump, not sure), then turn to your left and jump to the platform. From there, go up the ladder, then the other ladder, and do a run-jump accross the broken bridge (I did a sprint-jump, but a run-jump should suffice).
Once on the other side you will come to a slanted piece of wood. Slide down that and jump at the end of it. You'll land on a platform. Position yourself to look at the second last stone pillar, and do a short jump to it (hold the walk-button and jump), then short-jump to the next pillar.
From there I'm lost. Once you get to the stairs, a metal, spinning, blade thing comes up and rolls down the stairs, then does it again and again and again, and I have no idea how to get past it.

Just in case:
short jump = hold L1 and press forward + circle
run jump = run forward and press circle
sprint jump = sprint forward and press circle while sprinting.
Howdy RedArmy, welcome to the forum http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Call me Doppel, or Doppelganger, or Dopp, one or the other ;)
No... I prefer RedArmy. Sounds better. Any objections?? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif :D

Ummm... Busy :D
nah, go nuts :D
I figured out how to get passed the part I was stuck at.
When you slide down the piece of wood just over the broken bridge, jump off as soon as you start to slide , then press x. Lara should grab the ledge of a wooden platform. Save before you try this, so that you can just try again should you miss, instead of having to backtrack (I think you'd have to go back across the pillars, but I'm not sure).
Once you get up on the wooden platform, pull the lever at the end. A short scene will show to flames going out. That means the spinny-blade-spike thing won't come out.
Then you just drop to the stone platform below, line yourself up, do the short-jump to the pillar, then the other pillar, then go up the stairs, spike free.
At the top of the stairs you'll see a little scene of fire running down a stone and cracking it open, creating a door.
I dunno what lies beyond the door yet, I paused it to come over here and update you on how to get passed the spikey-blade-spinner thingy.
Well, you're back now and that's what counts! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Evenin' back and also good night! I'm going to bed! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/sleepy.gif

OK, Thanks for the tips Dopp. I finally got through that part and the next with the fire that runs down the door. I'm now on the part with the spikes http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif . Ya know, I didn't know about sprint jump until I read your post...could have used that one in some of the other levels, I'm sure.
This game is starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth. IMO she is very hard to control. I'll do the same thing twice with the controls, yet for some reason, she does not. Very frustrating. I think I've spent more time looking at save and load screens than I have playing this one.
The strength upgrade that you get just before you make the sprint-jump is what gives you the sprint-jump ;)
I've also noticed that the controls are a bit weird, same thing you said, where you push the same buttons, but she does completely different things.
One thing I hate is the running. Sometimes when you push forward on the analog stick she starts running right away, then other times she starts off with a slow walk, then builds up to a run. Makes it a bit hard to time things when you don't know what speed she's gonna 'run' at.
Anyway, glad I could have been of help.
I finished the game tonight, good stuff, although I expected the game to be a bit darker, but oh well, still awesome stuff. Killed MANY hours, and it was a lot of fun. Good game all around, although their were a few too many bugs for my liking.
And yea, I too have probably seen more loading screens than game-time.
The part called "The Wrath of the Beast" in the Hall of Seasons took me FOREVER. I could never get it right. She'd either turn too much, or wouldn't jump right, or wouldn't jump at all. Then when I'd get near the end she'd hit a glitch or something. I don't even wanna know how many times I died in that place.
