Unless you finished the whole level, then yes it will save it automatically. But if u level skipped you dont have to, you can pick "overwrite without saving." you should be able to save ur postiton during a level. But, you cannot save two positions, one will overwrite each other. of u cant save anyway, then check ur memory card. i hope i helped. happy tomb raidering. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Thanks but there is no save on my card when we go to save it. The book comes up and all it has is reload, re-start level. We want to save the game when we get into it at different levels so we don't have to go back and do the same things over and over again, like you can do on the rest of the games. Do we have a faulty game?

my memory is a little foggy here, but doesn't the original Tomb Raider require the acquisition of save crystals ?

what the heck are save crystals? Never heard of them.

some early versions of Tomb Raider required the discovery of same game crystals, typically purple floating diamonds, which once captured afforded the user the option to save. the more you found, the more frequent you could save..

Thank you now I remember just before we kill the bear in the walkthrough there was a blue floating thing but we did not know what it was so just passed it up now we know what to look for again thanks.

TLR Online is correct.

In TR1 for Playstation users there are glowing, floating blue crystals throughout the game. To use one, stand Lara so the crystal is in front of her and press action--that will take you to a menu where you are asked if you want to save your game or not. When you load a game, you're given the choice of going to any of your completed levels, going to the start of your current level, or going to the location of your last save game crystal.

Unfortunately, these crystals are not as close as you might want them, and you're forced to use them where you find them (unlike TR3 where you collect the crystals and use them whenever you want to). The only choice you have in TR1 with the crystals is to save when you encounter one or not to save and hope you make it alive to the next one.

Those crystals were probably the only thing I didn't like about the game. I like the freedom of unlimited saves that are in TR2, Last Revelation, and Chronicles.

jimbess. yes, you should find the majority of them dotted about all over the place.
